Does DFA Pulse Poll Email = Stealth Campaign for Gore?

Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 08:40:42 AM PDT

I just received an email from Arshad Hasan, Executive Director of Democracy for America. The email challenges Gore to "Jump In or Drop Out."

My read is that the email does a couple of things: (1) encourages people to vote in the DFA poll, and (2) more importantly, calls out Al Gore to fish or cut bait.

But the way in which it calls out for Gore is very interesting.

GA-06 - The Price is Wrong: Don't Let Price Borrow His Way to Another Term

Tue Aug 22, 2006 at 07:17:54 AM PDT

The FEC Candidates' 18-month summaries were released earlier this month, ranking the incumbents and challengers in several categories.

Among other findings, the Summaries Report indicates:

Receipts by Republican House candidates increased 12% with increases for incumbent candidates (23%) and open seat candidates (15%) but a decline in overall receipts for Republican House challengers of 34% when compared with 2004.   Democratic candidates' receipts were 26% higher than in the last cycle with a small increase for incumbents (4%) and larger increases for both open seat candidates (46%) and challengers, whose fundraising more than doubled when compared with 2004.

GA-06 - Help Sinton Vigorously Pursue Stem Cell Research

Tue Aug 08, 2006 at 09:29:39 AM PDT

Thanks to the Diary Rescue Squad, I came across Jeffrey Feldman's excellent diary Frameshop: Lamont Is About Principles--DC Doesn't Get It which, as SusanG eloquently put it, "discusses how the Lamont campaign has been about principles, not issues, and how this can provide a framework for other successful Democratic campaigns."

Like others across the country, I've been volunteering my time here in Georgia to help another candidate who stands on principle, Steve Sinton.

Here's one area where the importance of Principles versus Issues applies to the campaign I'm actively supporting:  Stem Cell Research.

As indicated on Steve's Campaign Website (which will undergo a major overhaul in 2 weeks), Steve is an active supporter of broad and inclusive stem cell research.

GA-06 - Sinton: "Inject Some Common Sense Into Washington"

Thu Aug 03, 2006 at 11:47:59 AM PDT

Steve Sinton's out-of-the-box campaign for Congress in GA-06 continues to gain steam.

Having recently routed first-term incubent Tom Price at an AARP Candidate Forum, taken up campaign headquarters residence at Newt Gingrich's old offices, and, oh yeah, setting a 10-year record for Democratic votes in the 6th District in the primary, Steve caught up with Joel Foster of 920am WGKA, an Atlanta-area news/talk/opinion station.

Here's why Steve is running, in his own words:  920am WGKA Audiophile Spot.  Please check it out, if your computer has speakers (and yes, it's completely safe for work).

GA-06 - "Hard-Charging" Sinton's Got the Big Momentum! (w/ Poll)

Mon Jul 24, 2006 at 06:49:03 AM PDT

Sevah here, back with a field report on the miraculous GA-06 Sinton campaign.  I'll continue to report here on the Steve Sinton climb to unseat Tom Price in GA-06 until Steve wins in November or at least until Kossacks kick in enough scratch to pay for some yard signs.  To do so, click here:  Steve's Campaign Website, click "Contribute" and make a transaction.  You'll feel glad that you did, promise!

To turn GA-06 into a Shining Blue Star in this Southern Sea of Red, we MUST have the moral and financial assistance of the Netroots.  Also please check out Steve's DFA-Link profile page.

See my prior diaries here: People Powered Politics! and here: Crashing the Gate, and puhlease's diary about the how Price dodged a debate with Steve, hiding behind a fake dinner with a VFW chapter, (CLASSIC!) here:  Tom Price is a LIAR!.  Also see Dengre's tour de force diary on how to defeat the Ralph Reed Republicans like Price, and why it's increasingly important to do so now, here:  Forced Abortions = Trouble for the GOP.

GA-06 - Congressional Race is Heating Up - People-Powered Politics!

Fri Jul 21, 2006 at 12:29:08 PM PDT

As anyone who's read my diaries knows, I've been stumping for Steve Sinton, Democratic candidate for the GA-06 House seat.  This diary updates a recent appearance Steve made and catalogs the crowd's overwhelmingly positive reaction, particularly juxtaposed to his opponent, the one-term, do-nothing Bushbot Tom Price.

Props go out to the East Cobb Democratic Alliance, East Cobb Dems, from whose blog this material was lifted.  The author has graciously agreed to a wider distribution.

Steve's current challenge is to raise funds against the Price behemoth.  Price was apparantly a receipient of much DeLay/Abramoff/Reed largesse, and it's up to us individual donors to bridge the significant gap.

Please show Steve some love here:  Steve's Campaign Website, and enjoy the comments here:

Georgia Primaries - The News of the Georgia Dem Death Has Been Greatly Exaggerated

Wed Jul 19, 2006 at 05:32:02 AM PDT

The Georgia Primaries were live-blogged by many kossacks last night here:  http://www.dailykos.com/... and the glorious news of Ralph Reed's crash and burn has been diaried by several and highlighted by Kos on the front page.

As hilltopper points out in the comments to Kos's story, perhaps the biggest news of yesterday's primary is the relatively tremendous turnout of Georgia Dems.

On the flip I provide some layman's (and single-cup of coffee) examples of turnout numbers of the various races and my initial take on how this bodes for November '06 and beyond.

In short, things are looking good for the Dems even down here in Red Clay Georgia. What are your thoughts?

GA-06 - When I First Met Steve Sinton, He Was Shaking Al Gore's Hand. Now, He's Crashing the Gate.

Fri Jun 09, 2006 at 09:28:20 AM PDT

Mr. Gore had just concluded his remarks at the Atlanta premiere of An Inconvenient Truth (http://www.climatecrisis.org), by challenging the theater full of progressives to "be the change you want to see."

Steve and I were two of the first to rush to the front to shake Gore's hand.  I overheard a voice say, "Mr. Gore, I'm taking up your challenge - I'm running for Congress."  When Steve introduced himself to Al, I recognized the name and said, "Hey, you're running in my district."  We met, talked about how inspiring the movie was, a little about Air America Radio (Steve's a co-creator with his brother, Jon), and exchanged cards.

Please join me on the flip for more and a request for help.

An Inconvenient Truth: It's a Hit!!

Wed May 31, 2006 at 04:20:47 AM PDT

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/...

According to Box Office Mojo, An Inconvenient Truth pulled in an average of $70,332 per screen over the weekend (on 4 screens, while in limited release prior to a summerlong cross-country rollout).  By comparison, X-Men 3 averaged a paltry $27,845 per screen, and it took that movie 3,690 screens to pull off its impressive #4 record weekend opening gross.

I smell an independently produced documentary hit - what will Tipper wear to the Oscars?

Strategic Vision Georgia Poll Results

Wed May 10, 2006 at 11:43:56 AM PDT

This poll interestingly tracks national trend lines on Bush disapproval, shows marked Democratic gains in this reddest-of-red state, yet stubborn allegiance to "home-boys" Perdue, Isakson, and Chambliss (who so underhandedly ousted Patriot Max Cleland).  Your thoughts?

Below are the results of a three-day poll in the state of Georgia. Results are based on telephone interviews with 800 likely voters in Georgia, aged 18+, and conducted May 5-7, 2006. The margin of sampling error is ±3 percentage points.

The End of Fiscal Conservatism - A Central Dem Platform for '06 and '08?

Wed Nov 09, 2005 at 04:23:47 AM PDT

I haven't seeen this reported here, but this is an unmitigated disaster of epic proportions if true.  Most Republicans I know STILL believe that Bushie is fiscally conservative (and responsible), that economic woes of the country remain only as a result of "the events of 9/11" and really think flat taxes and social security privatization are good ideas.  This news, if true, seems to be a compelling argument against their claims (and yet another reason to kick the bums out).

According to the Treasury Department, from 1776-2000, the first 224 years of U.S. history, 42 U.S. presidents borrowed a combined $1.01 trillion from foreign governments and financial institutions, but in the past four years alone, the Bush administration borrowed $1.05 trillion.

Does the "FairTax" Warrant Rebuttal Now?

Sun Aug 07, 2005 at 04:38:19 AM PDT

This, and Neal Boortz in general, seem terribly crazy to me, but it appears that the so-called "FairTax" is catching steam, at least locally.  Should the blogosphere nip this in the bud before the MSM makes it appear to be credible?

Boortz book shooting up the best-seller list

From www.ajc.com:

Syndicated WSB-AM talker Neal Boortz and Rep. John Linder (R-Ga.) drew more than 1,000 people to the Cobb Civic Center Friday for a book signing and rally to support a retail sales tax.
