What if Obama had said this during the debate?

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 11:59:52 PM PDT

Like many of you, I was struck by the disgrace that was tonight's ABC Democratic debate.  I won't elaborate on that as plenty of others have already expounded on this issue in other diaries and on ABC's own comments board.

As the debate got going and it became obvious just how terrible it was, you could see that Barack was angry.  After the Ayers question he made a mild rebuke of the question, but it seemed to me that inside he really wanted to say something more strong.

What if he had?

What if he had taken the moderators to task for failing the American public?  What if he had said something like this:

Poll

Should Barack have called the moderators on their crap?

Obama says "Shame on her" in brilliant response!

Sun Apr 13, 2008 at 07:05:30 PM PDT

Just when I start to forget.

Just when I'm becoming so tired of this endless campaign.

Just when I start to worry that maybe Obama blew it a little bit.

Just when I start to forget why he's gotten this far, and wonder how effectively he can respond to what could easily be a terrible "gaffe".

I see this video from Halperin's The Page under the headline COUNTERPUNCH:

update: Now with embedded YouTube video!

How brilliant is that?  I mean, this guy is good.  I would have loved to have been in the crowd for this one, as he was on top of his game as I haven't seen him be in a while.  Fresh, vibrant, visceral, effective.  I wish I knew what that person in the crowd said toward the end of the video.  He asks, hears the answer, chuckles, but doesn't repeat it and moves on.

Counterpunch indeed.
