I am a student, an activist, and a blogger. I enjoy good books, great music, and new adventures. Of course, I am also a hard-core progressive Democrat... I'm trying my best to support great candidates and push forward great ideas.
You know, we hear the term "change" used so often as little more than a cheap political slogan. That's why it's been so refreshing to see Barack Obama give us reason to belive change is more than just a word. That's why I'm so proud of our Democratic Party for standing up for real change that helps real people. And yes, that's why I'm excited about some great Democratic candidates who are bringing home the message of change.
I know so many of us are excited about the Obama campaign. I know we all want to see Barack Obama become President next January. But you know what? This isn't enough for me.
OK, OK, so what the hell am I talking about? FOllow me after the flip for more...
Whoops... I guess the media once again declared Hillary dead before she came roaring back to life. (Follow me after the flip for more on last night's stunner...)
I find it funny how so many in the pundit class are ready to dance on Hillary Clinton’s political grave. Despite the Gallup poll showing the race tied and Hillary remaining quite competitive in the states about to vote on March 4, the professional media insiders want us to believe it’s all over now. But is it?
Wow... Just wow. After all these months of waiting, Super Duper Tuesday finally came upon us. And like many of you, I actually had a chance to vote in it as I'm a registered California Democrat. But you know what's even more amazing? I got to personally take part in the campaign.
I watched with my own eyes as people poured into campaign event. I listened with my own ears as my fellow California Democrats were telling me how they intended to vote. And most importantly, I worked my own behind off to make history happen.
Now with campaign season in full swing, we keep hearing about the word "change". All the candidates say they're for "change", but they can't quite explain to us what "change" means. I see the campaign rallies on the teevee, and I see the enthusiastic supporters holding their "Change Begins With Us" signs and their "Stand for Change" signs... But what doe these slogans really mean. What does all this talk of "change" have to do with us?
Well, why don't you follow me after the flip for more as we examine what change really looks like...
During this Presidential Campaign, I've been hearing so much talk about so many things. And don't get me wrong, I appreciate it when the campaigns discuss issues. But in the end, I hope the discussion doesn't just end there. I hope the discussion moves to real action.
And in these turbulent times, we'll need a President who won't just talk about solutions for Iraq and health care and climate change and the economy. We'll need a President who will take action to make real change that will benefit real people. That's what compelled me to take action last weekend.
Follow me after the flip so we can discuss the importance of taking action...
You know, words have power. Words can inspire. Words can hurt. Words can can do plenty.
But you know what's even more powerful than words? ACTION. And when paired with the right words, action can bring about great change. When words are matched with action, real change happens.
Go ahead and follow me after the flip as we look at the value of words and actions...
Change... It seems to be the buzzword everyone's talking about. Change is wonderful. Change is marvelous. May I have some change with that order? Does change come on the side? May I have some extra change with that? ;-)
OK, OK, my joking can be awfully silly. But really, this discussion about change is serious. How do we make change happen? How do we get the change we need? Where do we start to start changing?
Well, why don't you follow me after the flip for more while we find some answers for a change...
We were shocked by this stunning show of emotion. We were awestruck by the sudden sense of "unstoppability" surrounding Barack Obama. It seemed like New Hampshire was ready to launch a new political superstar and put an end to a truly great woman's historic run for the White House.
But in the course of one day, everything changed. Someone fought the system... AND WON! Follow me after the flip for more on this stunning surprise...
"Words are not action and as beautifully presented and passionately felt as they are, they are not action. [...] What we've got to do is translate talk into action and feeling into reality." -Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
Did you catch last night's Presidential Debate? I did, and I must admit that I was surprised to see what unfolded. I thought I'd be forced to see the end of one great campaign, but instead I saw glimmers of hope for a new beginning.
And no, this wasn't some false hope. What I saw last night was a chance for New Hampshire voters to change an entire media narrative, and let this antion know that Democrats aren't just looking for nice talk about "change". No, what I saw was a chance for voters to say on Tuesday that Democrats will actually vote real change, action that will produce change, in 2009 and beyond.
As you all know, caucusing begins tomorrow night in Iowa. This is the moment we've all been waiting for. And you know what? This may be the start of something quite special, a new beginning for this nation. Our nation is at a crossroads, and it's time for us to stand up and seize the opportunity to make change happen.
Ah, 2007 is coming to close! 2008 is almost here! We have less than a year left until the November election, and a little more than a year until Bush & Cheney are finally out of office. Aren't you glad the new year is coming?
I know I am. I'm glad that the time is here for us to pick a President. Will you please join me after a flip for more as we talk about our chance for a new beginning next year?
OK, I know there's been a whole lot of discussion and arguing over "special interests". I keep seeing these accusations fly over who's not "bound by special interests" and who's better apt to "stand up to special interests". But you know what? I'm getting sick of this silly argument. It's time that our next President take special interest in our concerns, and it's time that our next President start considering us to be his/her "special interests".
And you know what? I think I know who that candidate is. Follow me after the flip to find out...
You know, there's a lot of talk of "change" during this election season. We keep hearing the Presidential Candidates talk about "change", and how they truly represent change. But you know what? I'm kind of tired of all the talk of "change"... I want someone I know can make change happen, and I know Dolores and other friends of mine agree on this.
Here we go again. Once more, we're talking about who's really on our side and who's really working for us and who's really attacking whom. But if you're like me, I bet you're getting exhausted by all the negativity lately. So if you don't mind, I'd like to share something quite positive with you. I want to chat with you about someone who's been working hard for real change, and someone we can count on to work for us.
In case you haven't heard, I've been changing my mind quite a few times over the last year in deciding who's my #1 pick for President in 2008. And apprently, I'm not the only one who's changed minds recently. I know there's plenty of talk about our prerogative to change our minds, but if you don't mind I'd like to tell you my own story of how it had been so hard for me to stick with one candidate... Until I found "The One" I knew I could trust to put an end to the Bush-Cheney era and start putting people first again.
Please feel free to follow me after the flip for more...
