¡Latinos Unidos Con Obama!

Wed Jan 23, 2008 at 07:15:34 AM PDT

¡¡¡Si Se Puede!!!

Three words. If you break this phrase down, that's all it is...three simple words. However, these words not only ignited a movement, but a people. I wasn't around during the time of César Chávez, but I know someone who was...my grandmother.
My grandmother is a Mexican-American and worked in Texas many years of her life as a fruit picker in Starr County. These workers had no voice; they were invisible. However, they had hope...hope in a man named César Chávez. He led a movement that touched Latinos all across the nation; he was the voice of the voiceless...the catalyst that ignited a people. César Chávez was not just a man to my grandmother, he was a beacon of hope; hope for a better future and better tomorrow.
She mentions "hope" a lot these days. She mentions it because she has the same feeling now that she had back then; the only difference is that the man that is that beacon of hope for her now is Barack Obama. My abuela (grandmother in Spanish) always tells me, "I like that guy Obama...he's a good man...he reminds me so much of Chávez." When I ask why, she always tells me the same thing, "Mijo, it's because he's full of so much hope."

Mark Penn: We Were Just Kidding (Updated) ; )

Tue Dec 04, 2007 at 10:35:56 AM PDT

Ah, after taking a beating from the MSM about their press release on Barack Obama's presidential ambitions (from Kindergarten)...Mark Penn goes on MSNBC's Morning Joe this morning to tell the whole world that...wait...give me second...I'm still laughing...okay...wait...still not ready...wiping away the tears...okay, now I'm ready...he now says that the press release was a big joke.

Yep, that's right folks...Mr. Poll-Central himself says that their so-called oppo-research on Barack Obama's childhood ambition was a big joke. They were just kidding. No need for us to take it seriously. Yeah right. Like we're really supposed to believe that. How can the most calculated and poll-driven operative of the most calculated and poll-driven campaign say that a press release that they gave out was meant to be a joke. Come on Mark Penn...don't insult our intelligence like that...we know that you were trying to score some cheap political point, but, I'm sorry (well, not that sorry) to say sir, that the joke is on you.

Barack Obama: He is the Message!!!

Fri Oct 19, 2007 at 02:38:46 PM PDT

Uh huh...that's right...my man Barack Obama is oh so close to closing the gap. Obama has just raised 2 MILLION DOLLARS in just 3 days. 3 DAYS!!! That's less than a work week. Who would have thought? I don't know about any of you, but that's what I call people-powered politics. The kind of politics that we here at DailyKos are supposed to promote. The kind of politics that we here at DailyKos are supposed to engage in. The kind of politics that we here at DailyKos are supposed to be proud of. That is the kind of campaign that my man, Barack Obama, is running. It is from the ground-up. We the people...wait...let me say that again...we the people are in charge of his campaign, and when he becomes President, WE THE PEOPLE are going to run this country. Because, if history serves me right, the government is formed of the people, by the people, and for the people.

I'm not a big diary writer, however, one of the diaries on the Rec List did get my attention yesterday and I felt that I had to respond to it today. There was a rant written yesterday regarding Obama and faith. Although it was liked enough to get on the Rec List, I didn't appreciate it much. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some right-wing religious bigot that discriminates against people based on who or what they are. I am firmly on the left side of the political spectrum as I strongly support the separation of church and state, a women's right to privacy, and allowing any two people who love each other to make that sacred oath that we all call marriage. What I did not appreciate was the distortion of what Obama said about faith. Obama is not some Bible-waving religious warrior trying to get everyone to believe in God. Nor is he trying to be "Pastor in Chief" as the author mentioned yesterday:

Barack Obama, Presidential hopeful and erstwhile Senator, apparently really wants to be our Pastor in Chief.

Obama simply lets everyone know that he is a faithful man of God and many of his principles and values are due to that. Don't believe me?

Obama: Hitting them where it hurts!!!

Wed Sep 12, 2007 at 04:58:41 PM PDT

Disclosure: I am an unapologetic Obama Supporter and I believe that he will be the next President of the United States.

Alright guys...I haven't written a diary in a while, but I thought that this needed to be discussed. Everyone knows that Hillary Clinton is the front-runner. She is leading in many of the polls, everyone knows her, she has a lot of money, yada yada yada. Everyone also knows that John Edwards is trying to be the anti-Hillary candidate but is not getting much traction because of Obama, which is a reason Edwards made the ridiculous remark comparing Obama's withdrawal plan to Bush's "withdrawal plan":

"Senator Obama would withdraw only 1-2 combat brigades a month between now and the end of next year, which for the next several months could essentially mimic the president's own plans to withdraw 30,000 troops by next summer."

However, I believe that the biggest issue that exists in America today (other than global warming of course) is going to be the one issue that brings them down, and Obama is taking rightful aim at that vulnerable spot in their campaigns.

I am a Christian and I am a Democrat

Mon Jul 30, 2007 at 09:26:10 AM PDT

I've been thinking about writing this diary for a long time now. The problem was that I just didn't know where to start. However, after reading dansac's diary this morning, I realized that I just got to speak from the heart. So here it goes:

Obama Did It!!!

Sat Jun 30, 2007 at 07:45:26 AM PDT

Now that's what I'm talking about. Barack Obama has finally reached his goal for the end of the Second Quarter. At the time of this writing, he has over 256,000 donors, and 350,000 donations. Now that's what I call people-powered politics. And if anybody says different, they are just hatin'. Barack Obama is the man for the job and everybody is going to see it. Great things don't just happen...they take time to happen, and I believe that Barack Obama is going to be that next great president that we've all been waiting for. Just you wait and see...Have Faith!!!

What Dems Can Learn From Republicans!!!

Mon Jun 18, 2007 at 09:53:49 AM PDT

Ok, ok, ok, before you guys burn me at the stake, this is not a diary promoting the GOP. This diary is meant to examine how the GOP is able to continue getting away with the notion that they are the party that is best able to handle terrorism (which is bullshit, because all they really do is make it worse), and why they are successful at making Dems look weak. The reason is simple...Republicans sell their talking points when they are "right" (at least in their minds), and they deny, deny, deny, when they are wrong. The Republicans are Pros when it comes to spinning the story their way and the MSM lets them get away with it. However, it takes two to tango and the Dems are not alone. They also take part of the blame because they either don't express their ideas as forcefully, or, when they do express their ideas, they don't come out right. Hopefully that intro made some sense, if not, hopefully any confusion will be done away with below the fold.

Obama's Potential at Work!!!

Thu Jun 07, 2007 at 12:59:12 PM PDT

I don't know if anyone diaried this, but if so, let me know and I will delete A.S.A.P.

Anywho, I was surfing MSNBC when I came across this story from Richard Wolffe: "I'm a McCain Man, Through and Through--Unless the Democrats Nominate Obama. Then, Forget the McCain Thing."When I first started reading this story, I just thought that it was another story about how Obama can reach across party lines and bring this nation together, yadda, yadda, yadda...but when I read more, I realized that this was kind of like WHOA...

Obama Did Good!!!

Thu Feb 22, 2007 at 07:30:09 AM PDT

I can't say that I'm familiar with John Dickerson. I also can't say that I read much of his writings. What I can say is that John Dickerson is just plain wrong when it comes to his opinion about Barack Obama's response to Hillary's bullshit. If someone hits you, you are gonna hit back. No matter how soft the hit was, or where the hit came from. Obama did the right thing by hitting back. If he didn't, Hillary would have used that to define who he was, someone who was associated with the scum (I know scum is harsh but you know how these politicians spin) of the earth (even though that was one of her husband's buddies during the 90's). Of course, others have different opinions and believe that he should have done something different. Let's review those other options.

Daschle endorses Obama!!!

Wed Feb 21, 2007 at 06:29:17 PM PDT

Wassup Kossacks!!!

This is my first diary, so please don't chop my head off...

I just wanted to share my thoughts on the former Democratic Leader's endorsement of my home state senator, Barack Obama. Now, as many of you know, Tom Daschle was defeated in 2004 by that skeleton look-alike John Thune. Since then, he's been doing what most "retired" politicians do...things that irritate the other party. He has come out against the war, spoken the truth about the Republican "leadership," and even flirted with running for president. Now, enough about Daschle...I should be talking about his endorsement of Obama, which was very elegant and very true.

Here are some of the highlights (in regards to Obama):

"[Obama] personifies the future of Democratic leadership in our country."

"[Obama has a] great capacity to unify our country and inspire a new generation of young Americans, just as I was inspired by the Kennedys and Martin Luther King when I was young."
