Obama Will Accept Dem Nomination in Stadium

Sun Jul 06, 2008 at 08:54:48 PM PDT

According to Marc Ambinder, Obama will accept the Democratic Nomination at Invesco field. Official announcement comes tomorrow.

On Thursday, August 28, Barack Obama plans to accept his nomination at Invesco Field in Denver, rather than at the Pepsi Center.

It's going to cost the convention committee a lot of money to make the move, but Invesco Field can handle more than 75,000 spectators and will make a much better picture.

This is going to give Obama a huge bounce after the convention.  75,000 people packing a stadium to see a politician won't go unnoticed.  I think we can safely color Colorado blue now.

Dean and Obama make a great team. =)

Blitz Boy: Hillary must win North Carolina

Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 12:35:59 AM PDT

Real Clear Politics apparently thinks that Wolfson: Obama Must Win Pennsylvania is front-page material.

I've got to hand it to them. They pulled off the classic bait and switch, developing a huge audience with well-organized polls. Now they are the new Drudge, acting as nothing more than a stenograph machine for Clinton campaign surrogates.

Anyway, since Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson has declared Pennsylvania a must-win for Obama, I thought I would declare North Carolina a must-win for Clinton.

Outspending Hillary Clinton 3-to-1 in Pennsylvania, Barack Obama must win there on April 22 to demonstrate his ability to win big states, said top Clinton aide Howard Wolfson today during a conference call with reporters.

"Not able to keep up with Barack Obama's fundraising, Hillary Clinton must win in North Carolina to demonstrate her ability to drag out the Democratic race," said blitz boy today on Daily Kos.

BREAKING! Democrats steal the election!

Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 08:56:04 PM PDT

In an astonishing turn of events for Barack Obama, some votes in several precincts across the country are being multiplied by 3,970. McCain in Trouble? Romney 25% McCain 20% Giuliani 19%

Mon Jan 21, 2008 at 10:53:39 AM PDT

The new Rasmussen poll out today is somewhat of a shocker. It shows McCain actually losing his Florida lead after winning South Carolina.

Romney 25 (18)
McCain 20 (19)
Giuliani 19 (18)
Huckabee 13 (17)
Thompson 12 (11)

It appears that McCain has benefited from the large field of Republican candidates thus far. As the field narrows, Republicans may be coming home to the most viable conservative candidate remaining.

Eighty-three percent (83%) see Giuliani as politically moderate or liberal and 76% say the same about McCain.

Florida is a closed primary, so McCain's moderate image could be a huge problem for him here. He can no longer rely on independents.

Watch Bill Clinton Lose it Over Nevada Lawsuit

Thu Jan 17, 2008 at 07:32:17 PM PDT

He lies and says that the votes from the casinos are worth 5 times as much as the votes in regular precincts.

The more challenged he is the angrier he gets. Here he gets pissy with a reporter on the lawsuit to stop voters caucusing in their workplaces. He lies as well. So what else is new? Good for the local reporter who flushed out the Clintons' real position on the lawsuit. They're for it but don't have the balls to say so as such.

Fox News used plant inside Republican focus groups. Busted!

Mon Jan 07, 2008 at 10:45:22 AM PDT

Frank Luntz used the same guy twice for two Republican focus groups. Not everyone from each focus group gets to speak, but Frank Luntz called on this guy to speak both times. Fox propaganda at it's best.

Iowa Independent - Richardson will send supporters to Barack Obama

Thu Jan 03, 2008 at 04:56:06 AM PDT

The Huffington Post has already speculated about this, but now it's coming from another source. The Iowa Independent claims to have an exclusive scoop.

Gov. Bill Richardson's campaign is expected to direct their supporters to caucus for Sen. Barack Obama in the second round of voting at Thursday's caucuses in precincts where he is not viable.  Two sources familiar with the plan told Iowa Independent that the New Mexico Governor's organizers have been instructed to direct supporters to Obama in the places where they fail to reach the 15% threshold for viability.

John Edwards Win = Hillary Clinton Nomination

Mon Dec 17, 2007 at 06:37:34 AM PDT

Iowa Democrats have three choices on January 3rd.

  1. A corporate Democrat (Hillary Clinton)
  1. A change (Barack Obama)
  1. A populist (John Edwards)

About 23% of Iowans support the populist, and rightly so. But here's the dark irony. An Edwards win in Iowa paves the way for a Hillary Clinton nomination.

Kucinich's New Playbook for Speaking to the Media

Sat Nov 10, 2007 at 10:26:58 PM PDT

Weak Democrats, pay heed to Dennis Kucinich.

First, Dennis doesn't let pundits get away with outrageous assertions. Tucker Carlson's opening remarks on impeachment:

Tucker Carlson: Then it went to committee. That means it's dead, effectively, right now.

Kucinich fires back.

Dennis Kucinich: I would take issue with the assertion that it's dead.

Weak Democrat Playbook: Ignore the assertion that impeachment is dead and gratuitously thank Tucker Carlson for the show appearance.

Kucinich Playbook: Immediately strike down the "impeachment is dead" spin. Make viewers understand that there's a groundswell of support for impeachment, and it's not some radical leftist idea as the media wants to portray it.

Godless animals.  Isn't that what we really are?

Wed Sep 19, 2007 at 09:04:21 PM PDT

If someone calls me a godless animal, I'm not the least bit offendend.  There is no god.  Humans are animals. Why are progressives so accepting of the delusional who believe in god? We should be crushing their beliefs with reason, not coddling them. The reality based community is not at Daily Kos, but here.

The 25% hanging on to Bush are blinded by religion. Religion needs to be humiliated before this country begins to see real, progressive change.

Quit using the word "redeploy"

Sat Sep 01, 2007 at 11:26:03 PM PDT

When I hear about the redeployment of our troops, I wonder where in Iran they will be redeployed to. Redeployment is not bringing our troops home.  It's a weak way of saying that you oppose this war but don't actually have the spine to end it completely. There is no political risk in saying that you want to bring our troops home now. When pundits ask you if you support an immediate withdrawal (like it's such a bad thing), the answer should be an emphatic YES. Anything else is a mealy-mouthed, sitting on the fence lack of spine. Voters see right through your "have it both ways" rhetoric about ending this war. Put up or shut up.

My grandmother schools me on Obama and the race question.

Thu Aug 23, 2007 at 06:55:17 PM PDT

My grandmother is a caucasian high school drop out who got married when she was 16.  Born and raised in Kansas.  Never voted Democratic in her life.  Voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004.

She regrets her vote because she's SICK AND TIRED of this war.  The war has changed her entire way of thinking.  Any mention of Iraq has her huffing, "oh this war is so stupid" and "such a waste".  She's never been one to hide her feelings so she seems to enjoy letting everyone in town know how pissed off she is.

Now, she still calls African-American people "colored".  Her brothers have let out more than a handful of racial slurs in their life.  But things are changing.  There aren't any black people in town, but she loves her TV.  Her favorite actor is Denzel Washington.  She loves Kansas basketball and the Denver Broncos.  She watches Oprah every day.

She's paying attention to the Democratic primaries.  Who does she like?  One day she says to me, "So how do you like that colored guy?"  She wants him to win.  She will vote for him in the general election without thinking twice.

CNN, why did a movie director do your job?

Mon Jul 16, 2007 at 12:36:18 AM PDT

It seems that CNN only works hard at reporting when covering their own ass. If only they were this thorough the other 364 days of the year. If only they would ever do this "fact checking" thing to, you know, politicians and people with real power instead of filmmakers, maybe, just maybe, more people would be informed.

CNN essentially did a hit piece, right before interviewing Moore, and are trying to justify it with technicalities. They still claim that Moore "fudged facts" even though they don't point to even one made up number or false fact. Never mind these phrases that painted Moore as a propagandist:

Hold up!
But wait a minute...
playing loose with the facts
Moore is more a left-wing promoter than Hugo Chavez (courtesy of Lou Dobbs)

I hate to state the obvious, but CNN ought to be the ones highlighting the problems with health care and Iraq. It shouldn't be forced unto a documentary filmmaker. Cripes, and when a filmmaker reported the news they ignored, they attacked the person who did their job. I am left bewildered. As if Moore is somehow bigger news than the issues he tries to highlight.

How to be loved on Kos part 2

Mon Jul 09, 2007 at 12:47:30 AM PDT

Did you guys read Al Gore's facial tics during Live Earth?  Wow, it's like...so obvious!  He's running guys!!!  I saw his eye twitch when he was speaking in holographic form.  Now what does that tell ya???

Fuck your local races, man.  Eye twitches are da bomb!

You know what'd be funny?  What if Al Gore didn't run? Haha, that would be some funny shit, leading us on like this with obvious facial tics. I bet the wingers would get a kick out of all our "speculative" diaries.  They would probably make some snark about the reality based community, hehe.

BREAKING: Al Gore not running for president!

Tue Jun 26, 2007 at 06:18:57 PM PDT

Every time Al Gore says something vague about his future political aspirations or he doesn't completely rule out running, it makes waves on this site and finds it's way to the recommended list. I click on the recommended diary, only to be disappointed by an anecdotal story at a book signing or a weak quote regarding the matter.

For that reason, I thought this quote should be breaking news too.

"What politics has become," Gore explains at one point during our discussion, "is something that requires a kind of tolerance for artifice and manipulative communications strategies that I just find I have in very short supply. I just don't have the patience for things that seem to be greatly rewarded in today's political system." [...]

"I do think that the Internet is bringing revolutionary transformation. I have not ruled out the possibility of getting into politics sometime in the future," he says, "but I don't expect to. Because I don't expect things to change. If they did change, then I would feel differently."

Does Ken Salazar regret his vote for Gonzales? No.

Mon May 07, 2007 at 06:00:12 PM PDT

My local DINO voted to confirm Alberto Gonzales as US Attorney General.  I asked him not to, but he did anyway. I got my feelings hurt, so I decided to write a follow-up letter.

Dear Senator Salazar,

I called your office during the Alberto Gonzales' confirmation hearings, showing my support for a filibuster. Unfortunately, you voted for cloture and voted to confirm him. In light of the ongoing scandals surrounding this man, do you regret your confirmation vote?  I would like a response.

Sincerely,
XXX

Who's running the smartest campaign?

Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 10:48:43 PM PDT

I have not decided who I will support for the Democratic nomination, but I feel it's important for us to pick a candidate who understands how to avoid poll plunging mistakes.  Any halfway competent campaign should anticipate boners like this:

  1. Responding to the "flip flop" label by wind surfing.
  1. Riding a tank to try and make Pee-wee Herman look tough.
  1. Calling someone a "macaca" on camera (it's great when it works the other way).

Female Teacher Faces 40 Years in Prison Because of Porn Spyware

Wed Feb 14, 2007 at 06:22:07 PM PDT

A prosecutor in Connecticut convinced a computer illiterate jury that a substitute female teacher was behind the porn pop-ups on her computer.  She has been convicted, and now faces 40 years in prison.

Have you ever faced a pop-up that wouldn't go away? You try clicking it closed and another pops up in less than a nanosecond. You reboot the system, annoyed that your anti-spyware program let something slip through.

That's a hassle, sure--but chances are, your experience won't land you in jail.

Julie Amero, a substitute teacher in Norwich, Connecticut, has been convicted of impairing the morals of a child and risking injury to a minor by exposing as many as ten seventh-grade students to porn sites.

I can't believe this case was even brought to trial. The judge and prosecutors are obviously dimwitted idiots who know nothing about computers, which I find inexcusable in this day and age. If you are a person of importance in the judicial system and don't know what spyware means, or how it gets on your computer, you should be demoted to burger flipper, end of story.

Very sad case for this poor, pregnant woman.
