I wondered if it would happen. I actually was pretty sure it would happen. Told others, even, that this would come to pass. I just didn't know it would happen to me. I've been reading all of the helpful diaries on Senators Clinton and Obama, and I now know...

DIDS - 03-18-08 Adoption Edition

Tue Mar 18, 2008 at 03:55:19 PM PDT

Hiya!! It's that time of the week (otherwise known as Tuesday night Eastern) and time for DIDS. You regulars know DIDS is short for Damn, I Did Something. It's that chance we all crave, to tell everyone the large, small, glorious and mundane things we DID in the past week.

I'll be your substitute host for the evening! While talking to the DIDSman himself yesterday, I casually said "Hey, if you ever want a fill-in host again, let me know." Well, let it never be said that he doesn't make wishes come true... :-)

So what DIDS I do recently? Let's see...

You regulars know DIDS is short for "Damn, I Did Something." It's that chance we all crave, to tell everyone the large, small, glorious and mundane things we DID in the past week.

I hope everyone who could vote today, DID. At this very moment, I am sitting in the Wellstone Donkey Democratic Club in Second Life, listening to live streams of the coverage and talking with over 30 of my fellow Democrats. Gonna be here all night!

Join me on the flip for my DIDS, which is also my daughter's DIDS...

Sending nominations to the TC mailbox makes a GREAT New Year's Resolution.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun New Year's Eve last night! For the 4th straight year Casa Brillig spent it with family friends.... We watched TV coverage of festivities in New York or elsewhere, ate well, and tried to keep our kids awake until midnight (props to Kid Brillig, who made it for the 3rd consecutive year!). This year we played Dance Dance Revolution on their Wii and I'm pleased to say I absolutely rule :-). (we are not mentioning that it was on beginner level...).

Welcome to today's installment of Top Comments! Now I know many, maybe most, of you are frequent TC readers and commenters, but maybe, just maybe, out there right now is someone new. A Kossack who until tonight never ventured into the realm of TC. Ooh, is that a hand I see raised back there? Perhaps they- you - are new to the site. Maybe you don't usually read at night. Maybe you have a friend who mentioned TC and said you'd love it here. Perhaps... well, there are as many reasons why as there are Kossacks who've discovered and embraced the Top Comments series.

Come inside, for tonight it's all about welcoming you get acclimated!

Top Comments- 11-23-07 Elitist Turkey Edition

Fri Nov 23, 2007 at 07:02:19 PM PDT

Happy Day After Thanksgiving, everybody! I hope each and every one of you ate their fill of a delicious meal yesterday and then relived the experience via leftovers today! Casa Brillig was (still is, actually) at Mr. Brillig's parents' home and dined on a lovely meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy (the gravy.. swoon!), squash casserole, green beans and cranberry sauce. Given the number of desserts also present, plus the traditional Run of the Leftovers we participated in today, it is a minor miracle I managed to move my torpid body to the computer to bring you this edition of Top Comments!

So two weeks ago Casa Brillig watched a repeat holiday episode of the Food Network show "Unwrapped". One segment of this episode showed how the National Turkey gets pardoned. I thought "wow.. this would make a great TC diary!" and then promptly forgot I'd ever thought that. Until earlier this week, when Mr. Brillig reminded me! So give thanks to him for the memory jog and follow me for tryptophan-laced thoughts:

Top Comments 11-14-07 - "So What's The Plan?" Edition

Wed Nov 14, 2007 at 06:57:23 PM PDT

About two weeks ago, the call came. It was my mother-in-law (hereafter for simplicity's sake referred to as Mom, since mine passed away in 2001), and it was the call I expect every year around this time:

"So what are your plans for Thanksgiving? We were thinking of having at our house this year..."

And so it began... the yearly ritual known as Scheduling And Organizing The Holiday Dinners. Now I don't know if you go through this, but follow me inside for a peek into my world...
