NEW YORK TIMES ON OHIO APPEALS RULING

Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 11:36:20 PM PDT

Here's where the chaos begins....

The question is, what do we do now? Note that another court has barred reporters from being inside polling places in Ohio as too 'disruptive' (details at Election Law Site).

One thing's for sure, we may all need to take the Pledge of Action to Stop a Stolen Election.

G.O.P. in Ohio Can Challenge Voters at Polls
By JAMES DAO and ADAM LIPTAK

Published: November 2, 2004

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Tuesday, Nov. 2 - In a day of see-sawing court rulings, a Federal appeals court ruled early Tuesday morning that the Republican Party could place thousands of people inside polling places to challenge the eligibility of voters, a blow to Democrats who argued those challengers will intimidate minority voters.

Faux News Busted Again! Lies About Ohio Ruling.

Mon Nov 01, 2004 at 07:36:06 PM PDT

For the last half hour or so, Faux News has had the following posted:

Fraud File: Ohio Challenges Continue

Monday, November 01, 2004

WASHINGTON -- The Ohio Supreme Court issued a 4-3 ruling late Monday that gives a partial victory to Republican poll watchers who earlier had been denied by two federal judges.

The court ruled that state law allows one challenger per political party at each precinct. Republicans had registered its challengers at the polls by precinct, but Democrats had registered one challenger at each polling place. In Ohio's most crowded areas, like Cleveland, more than one precinct can be found in each polling place, meaning Republicans could have a numerical advantage in the number of challengers present.

On top of that, the 6th District Court of Appeals reversed two rulings by federal judges that would have prevented the parties from posting challengers at polling places. Earlier in the day, the judges ruled that poll workers, not outsiders, should determine voter eligibility.

But what was exceeding wierd was that no one else had the story...

Bush's "I'm Not Worried About Bin Laden" Video...

Fri Oct 29, 2004 at 06:10:32 PM PDT

On October 19, I posted this diary in an attempt to drum up support/donations for a MoveOn ad which took Bush apart on his debate claim that he never said "I'm not worried about Bin Laden".

You'll find the MoveOn ad at THIS DIRECT LINK TO THE VIDEO (Quicktime).

Unfortunately, MoveOn ignored 6 emails over 4 days in which I pleaded for information on how people could donate directly to this ad, so I dropped my effort.

The ad in and of itself may not be exactly right for the situation, but a variation could provide a powerful k.o. punch this weekend.

Yes I know it's too late for much of a media buy, but surely someone somewhere knows how to get a new commercial covered by the talking heads of cable and sunday morning pundorama. After all, if the Swiftboat Liars could manage it, why can't we?

And if not, any ideas out there on how to get some play out of the video of Bush saying,  "I don't know where he is... I, uh, heh-heh-heh... I... I, I repeat what I said I truly am not that concerned about him."

NY Times: Whites Smarter Than Blacks/Bush Smarter Than Kerry

Mon Oct 25, 2004 at 07:30:03 PM PDT

Okay, the title's meant to get your attention (but rest easy, it's not a fake as I'll show). It springs from a piece in the Sunday NY Times: Bush's Secret Weapon? by John Tierney, which begins:

To Bush-bashers, it may be the most infuriating revelation yet from the military records of the two presidential candidates: the young George W. Bush probably had a higher I.Q. than did the young John Kerry.

His source? Steve Sailer, founder of the Human Biodiversity Insitute, devoted to the study of "the implications of human biodiversity". Or to put it less politely, "what are we gonna do about race mixing?"

Bush: Sheep in Wolf's Clothing

Sat Oct 23, 2004 at 11:14:09 AM PDT

Speaking Of Wolves...

After the first debate I sent an email to Kos which was posted on the front(page?) as Another Reason To Vote For Kerry and caused a little contretemps amongst some posters, including myself.

Hearing about (but not seeing) the new "Wolves" ad, brought me back to what my kid had said, and brought the following question to my mind as perhaps being an eye-opener for Republican parents:

"If your own kids were surrounded by those wolves in the forest, who would you rather have at their side: Bush or Kerry?"

How do you think the parents would react to the question?

p.s. And if you know any Republican parents, why not ask them and post their reply.

THIS MOVEON AD COULD WIN IT FOR KERRY

Tue Oct 19, 2004 at 12:15:36 PM PDT

Apologies if this has already been posted, but Moveon has a kickass ad, which if run straight through the election could turn it into a rout.

The link to the ad is at http://www.moveonpac.org (note it's the link to PAC, not the member site). Here's vid-caps with much more following...

photo hosting and image hosting by ImageVenue.com

The ad begins with a split-screen of the debate with Kerry saying: "Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this President was asked where's Osama bin Laden and he said, 'I don't know, I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned'."

The screen fades to black and comes up on Bush's response: "Um, gosh, I don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. It's kinda one-a those exagerations." (Note: the vid's worth seeing just for the wierd way Bush intones ex-ag-er-ations).

Then over a silent video of Bush at a press conference the narrator says, "The truth is, on March 13th 2002 George Bush, in response to a question about why Osama bin Laden hadn't been brought to justice, said..."

The sound comes up on Bush saying, "I don't know where he is... I, uh, heh-heh-heh... I... I, I repeat what I said I truly am not that concerned about him."

The screen freezes and the narrator concludes over a matching graphic... "George Bush: Still Misleading America."

JUSTICE DEPT BLOCKS BUSH-CHENEY FRAUD DEPOSITION

Fri Oct 15, 2004 at 07:11:16 AM PDT

From the New Hampshire Union Leader, today...

Federal prosecutors yesterday called a halt just 20 minutes before Democrats were to question a Republican official under oath over the identity of a Bush-Cheney official allegedly implicated in an illegal phone-jamming operation.

LOOKING DOWN FROM CLOUD 9

Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 10:11:02 PM PDT

I am a long-time (voted for McGovern) partisan dem who's gone through 33 years of campaign ups and downs. I've had to grin and bear it as our party nominated less-than-stellar standard bearers and work to preserve hope inside myself through the terms of Reagan and Bush-1. I became energized once again with the nomination of Clinton and euphoric on the night of his election, in the full thesaurian meanings of the word.

I had high hopes for Gore but found it hard to reconcile my vision of him with the man who hit the campaign trail against Bush in 2000. Then earlier this year I let myself be intellectually courted by Dean and then Wes Clark. But I found it hard to develop an enthusiasm for either of them. When Kerry locked up the nomination I went back into grin-and-bear-it mode. Then came the debates.

The first debate awoke me to the possibilities of this man. I became slightly more encouraged. But tonight -- oh night of blessed nights -- I CAUGHT ON FIRE. And while the commentators and pundits and various and sundry comentated and pundited and poured over polls... And as the blogosphere debated back and forth on this point or that... I sat back and realized that tonight on stage I saw not a politician, but the man who SHOULD BE PRESIDENT. And whatever the punditry or polls say, I believe the majority of Americans will awake tommorrow, and in their heart of hearts, find that they have made that decision as well.

NY TIMES GIVES MAJOR STORY STATUS TO BUSH STUMP SPEECH

Thu Oct 07, 2004 at 05:54:28 AM PDT

The NY Times online today portrayed yesterday's stump speech as "a scathing critique of Senator John Kerry's stands on national security and the economy", and gave it front-page headline status.

The was the speech that the White House portrayed as "major" to dupe the cable networks into covering it live, for almost an hour. The cable guys at least had the excuse of not being sure they were duped until the end, but what possible excuse does the Times have?

Not to mention that they once again missed the real story -- the duping of the media by the Bush team. Worse part is, this will now be syndicated in local papers nationally.

The story is here http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/07/politics/campaign/07bush.html?hp
