My day at the DNC national meeting

Sat Feb 12, 2005 at 05:50:21 PM PDT

I also posted this at MyDD.  I haven't posted in a long time so please indulge me

I  arrived yesterday like Jerome Armstrong.  I went straight to the Women's Caucus meeting.  Howard Dean was starting to speak.  He was strong and he was engaged and he smiled a lot.
In the question and answer period, Judy Tobias Davis, an early Dean for Prez supporter by the way, in her quiet but steely way asked him  how could we let the Repubs claim moral values as theirs alone. She had been hard to hear so Howard rephrased it as "How can we let Republicans claim to be about moral values when they have none?"  We all loved it.  The questioner by the way is the mother of the DNC treasurer, Andy Tobias.

Social Security "Crisis "as unreal as WMD's in Iraq

Wed Dec 22, 2004 at 10:40:46 AM PDT

I am going to ask ahead for your indulgence for this relatively short diary.  I have not posted since the election (in which I poured my heart and soul) because I have been working almost 7 days a week since.  And the only reason I am home today is I have a 101 degree fever.

But there is an easy meme or slaogan I think we should use in the Social Security privatization debate ( which will really destroy social Security)

Al-QaQaa - Lou Dobbs excuses Bush tonite

Tue Oct 26, 2004 at 01:12:49 PM PDT

Dobbs just spoke to Woodruff on CNN about his planned show on Al Qa Qaa.  He cites the Drudge Report on CBS's 60 minutes story re running on Oct. 31st.  He said troops searched the site and didn't "seem" to find explosives.

It seems at first blush that he is planning an excuse for Bush and blaming Kerry and the media for unfairly jumping on the story.

I have to leave to run a phone bank for Palm Beach County so I can't send material to them.

Someone watch and keep tabs.  Alert Josh Marshall.  Send them Marshall's material.  Demand they interview Marshall.  Send them the NBC piece saying they just had a pit stop there. Factcheck them rigidly afterward.

Freep CNN etc. to Drop Mary Cheney NOW

Sat Oct 16, 2004 at 04:08:00 PM PDT

The last 2 days of ABC/WashPost and other polls and even non partisan Charlie Cook say that this Mary Cheney flap seems to be having an effect on those inattentive undecided. Kerry went down 1, Bush up 2 since yesterday, reversing Kerry's post debate momemtum. (Personally I think the undecided are living on another planet, but they matter even if just because they are measurable and the new voters are not)

This has been a terrible diversion from the real issues; the diversion helps Bush, but if we get back to talking about real issues  that helps Kerry.

Sinclair is Pravda: TPM Sinclair is BC"04

Mon Oct 11, 2004 at 06:15:49 PM PDT

this was my first post about Sinclair Broadcating. (The first one I put in a thread and not a diary.)

http://www.dailykos.com/comments/2004/10/9/21740/1289/98#98

The point I tried to make at 3AM Friday night was that this is incredibly dangerous for democratic societies.  This is a dangerous precedent when corporate owner(s) of media dictate(s) coverage. We won't need government control of the media a la Pravda when corporate control acts in the same way.

Bush's Anger will drive away Women voters

Fri Oct 08, 2004 at 11:49:37 PM PDT

Kerry had momentum going in this debate and maintains it.  But this is an important meme - not just his anger but who it affects.  This debate will especially help him with women voters.  John Kerry has proved he is presidiential, firm, won't wilt and keep his cool under pressure.  He doesn't have to strut like he's the angry cock of the walk.  Bush acts like a braggart and a bully.

Pushback here on Drudge Attack lines

Fri Oct 01, 2004 at 12:31:59 AM PDT

I know this stuff below from Drudge seems trivial and it is.  But so was Al Gore getting the name of the FEMA director wrong in the 2000 debate. It's nothing and they use it to hammer their poison into the media.

Call the news media NOW about biased debate coverage

Thu Sep 30, 2004 at 05:08:35 PM PDT

The networks and the cable outlets are just disgusting in their coverage of the debate.  Biased in the composition of their panels and the nature of their coverage.   They just suck and I think fom now until early morning call them over and over to complain about their coverage.

Some phone numbers

CNN           404 827 2600
MSNBC         201 583 5000
NBC NEWS         212 664 4444
CNBC             201 585 2622
CBS            212 975 2900
CBS EVENING NEWS    212 975 2824

I don't have ABC if some one does please post it.

Swamp them with their lousy, unfair, biased reporting.  Let them know you will hold them acountable.

CNN wants to know who has best WoT plan

Fri Sep 24, 2004 at 02:31:12 PM PDT

Question:  Who has the better plan to win the war on Terror.  Bush or Kerry?

I know some will think I am trigger happy but when I went to vote Kerry was only winning 52-48%.  It's CNN they will make something of this vote.

McCain urges Fla. Court to put Nader on ballot!

Fri Sep 17, 2004 at 12:26:49 AM PDT

This will be short and bitter and full of a sense of schadenfraude.  I am gratified to know that we can now see John McCain in all his partisan plumage.  A Republian is a Republican is a Republican

Anyone on this site been polled by Gallup?: Report

Thu Sep 16, 2004 at 04:10:43 PM PDT

This is a diary to find someone.  If you have participated in the Gallup poll this election season or frankly any season; please write in and tell us the series of questions you were asked. We need to have some idea why their likely voter screen has been tilted so much toward Bush.  So please respond.  If you think this is important to know,  we need to keep this diary up; in this light please then recommend this diary.

From comments in this diary. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/9/16/171052/232_We need to start looking at their partisan breakdown.  We need to loudly question their likely voter screen.  We need to find somebody that CNN polled, who uses this site,  and ask that person what questions they asked.  Specifically what questions they were asked to decide if they are a "likely" voter.  It's supposed to be 5-7 questions which determine if you are a likely voter.  We need info to start figuring out why their screen is so tilted toward Bush supporters._

It's Rosh HaShonah, so I am sorry I will not be here to monitor till later tonight, but feel free to post. (There is a diary which puts forward the proposition that could explain the numbers on today Rasmussen Reports)

Why rightwing blogs flog message and we don't

Mon Sep 13, 2004 at 12:03:20 PM PDT

http://www.mydd.com/story/2004/9/13/134457/344#readmore

Chris Bowers has a very important post at MyDD about why the right wing blogosphere was so much more effective  re the Killian memos than the left wing blogoshere's debunking of the forgery claim.

Theirs' is high volume, single message of the day,
typical rightwing top down method.
We have a more communally oriented site with lots of talking to each other.  There are many messages.  We spend time talking to each other rather than linking to lots of other sites to create a crescendo effect. It makes it harder to flog an item like Instapundit does and make it to a news blarer like Drudge.  And of course we don't have Drudge.

Read it.  I think it is important for this blog.  So recommend this diary, not for me but to make sure Chris Bower's message gets out.

Bush May '73 report backdated to fake Honorable Discharge

Wed Sep 08, 2004 at 10:20:18 PM PDT

60 Minutes showed the memos on screen. They were readable especially the last one dated Aug. 18th 1973.  But they too quickly pulled away from the screen to highlight only one quote from it.  "I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job."
The rest of that memo in particular is more telling.

But first to the earlier memos

Time poll was massaged to produce lead

Sat Sep 04, 2004 at 12:50:10 AM PDT

[UPDATE. I THOUGHT I ADDED THIS EARLIER BUT IT'S NOT THERE ANY MORE. GIVEN THE NEWSWEEK POLL. TIME IS NOT AN OUTLIER. THE CRITICISM ABOUT TIME FRAMES STILL HOLDS. JK WOULD HAVE HAD HIGHER NUMBERS IF THEY POLLED DURING OUR CONVENTION NOT AFTER. BUT WE HAVE TO TAKE THIS FOR WHAT IT IS. THEY WENT NEGATIVE FOR 3 DAYS (EVEN NUTTY ZELL WAS EFFECTIVE BECAUSE THERE NO LONGER IS A MAINSTREAM MEDIA IN CONTROL OF THE AIRWAVES AS THERE WAS IN '92 THAT CONDEMNED BUCHANAN'S SPEECH) AND THEN BUSH WAS MOSTLY POSITIVE. WE AND THE CAMPAIGN HAVE TO GO BACK TO REMIND PEOPLE ALL OVER AGAIN WHAT IS WRONG WITH GW BUSH AND RIGHT WITH KERRY.

Zell must have a brain tumor

Wed Sep 01, 2004 at 09:20:10 PM PDT

There is no other explanation.

I used to jokingly say that explained the sudden irrational behavior, the sudden conversion when he became Senator.  But now I think it is a definite diagnostic possibility.  It is almost the talk of a paranoid schizophrenic.

This is a man who not only can't tell the difference between the lies and the truth; but this is a man who has no control over his verbal impulses.  Logorrhea of the mouth.

Kerry wanted to hit SBVT sooner

Mon Aug 30, 2004 at 11:47:06 PM PDT

From Kausfiles whose opinions I despise.  But this is an intriguing rumor.

P.S.: kf demands more reporting on what the Note calls the "dissension" in the "wobbling" Kerry campaign. What kf hears--i.e. this is the rumor, not necessarily the truth--is that Kerry aides Shrum and Cahill are being blamed for the slow reaction to the Swifties. The candidate, it's said, wanted to fight back but was restrained. (How odd if Kerry ended up blaming his staff!) Underlying the anti-Shrumism is the dissatisfaction of some Kerry advisers with from the "battleground" strategy of peeling off a few key Bush states rather than attempting a big, general shift of public opinion. ...

Miles O'Brien replacing Aaron Brown

Thu Aug 26, 2004 at 07:13:23 PM PDT

My letter to Miles O'Brien

Let's seewhat he says as he subs for Aaron Brown, who actually seems most of the time has integrity.

Let's jump down his throat if he repeats his slanders.
