Control your gag reflex

Tue Oct 05, 2004 at 10:01:28 AM PDT

This Andrew Sullivan post can be summed up in three simple letters: WTF?!!?!

Most disgusting portion:

Well, I could easily be wrong, but I have a feeling Cheney will crush Edwards tonight. The format is God's gift to Daddy. They'll both be seated at a table, immediately allowing Cheney to do his assured, paternal, man-of-the-world schtick that makes me roll on my back and ask to have my tummy scratched. (Yes, I do think that Cheney is way sexier than Edwards. Not that you asked or anything.)

<shudder>

Excellent Attack Line for Tonight's Debate

I just saw this over at The Left Coaster and thought it needed to receive wider airing. Steve Soto posts:

A Suggestion For Kerry Tomorrow Night

Sometime tomorrow night, after George W. Bush has attacked John Kerry once again for not being as able to protect this country from terrorism as he is, I hope that Mr. Kerry turns towards Mr. Bush and says "In three years you and your Attorney General have left thousands of Al Qaeda wiretap recordings go untranslated which can provide valuable information about terror threats. You've had three years Mr. Bush, and you haven't done a thing with all these tapes you and Mr. Ashcroft insisted you needed to fight the war on terror. I'd say you've dropped the ball once again. The problem Mr. Bush is that it is you who is not tough or effective enough."

Please, just hit him between the legs with that one.

I know that a lot of the things Bush does are "beyond the pale" or "unconscionable" but this is truly, deeply, profoundly, and shockingly awful.  It cuts right to the heart of the charge that Bush is not serious about the War on Terrorism.  Republicans have mastered the art of attacking someone on their strengths.  It is time that Kerry attacks Bush directly and unflinchingly on Bush's (perceived) strength on terrorism.

Tapping the power of the kos community

Fri Aug 06, 2004 at 12:45:35 PM PDT

I have a question for Philadelphia area kosopolitans.  Does anyone know where/how I can get a new phone jack installed in my apartment without going through Verizon?

Do you know someone who moonlights on weekends, works for cheap, likes to break drywall, etc?  Verizon quoted me a price of $95 bucks to have one jack installed!  Ludicrous, I say.  Any help from the Philly area locals would be much obliged.  Thanks.

I've had my fair share of criticism for Andrew Sullivan, but I think he really hits the mark with this particular entry.

Pennsylvania voters needed

Wed Jul 14, 2004 at 03:46:44 PM PDT

As most of you know, Joe Hoeffel is running for Senate in PA against Arlen Specter.

What many of you may not know is that this race is closer than it seems! Anyway, in case you hadn't seen it yet, the campaign is currently trying to double their list of PA voter contacts in an email drive called Double Joe in July.  [full disclosure: I'm enthusiastically involved with the Young People for Hoeffel group in Philadelphia] If you are a Pennsylvania voter who's interested in helping Hoeffel humiliate Arlen Specter this fall, please consider signing up with the campaign!

Roll Call Resources

Does anyone out there know if there is a website that tracks the Senate votes as they occur?  I'm trying to find out how Arlen Specter voted on the FMA.  Thanks.

Fisking Sullivan

Mon Jul 12, 2004 at 07:05:26 AM PDT

Andrew Sullivan seems to be confused.

Edwards voted to keep the abortion of late-term babies legal - even if it involves the grotesque procedure of crushing a newborn's skull while still in the womb.
Note to Andrew:

If the fetus is still in the womb, it is not a "newborn."

Fucktard.

Formatting Question

How does one do the purple block quotes?  I'm an HTML amateur and just wanted to pick up a few things.  Is there a Scoop shortcut for it, or would I have to use old fashioned HTML.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Best Cell Phone Carrier- with Poll (I hope...)

Wed Jun 16, 2004 at 07:52:44 AM PDT

I live in Philadelphia and I'm looking for a new cell phone plan for my fiance and I.  I wanted to know which plans people give high marks for call quality, coverage area, price, convenience, etc.

We'd like a national calling plan with free mobile to mobile minutes, as well as free evening and weekend minutes.

Which plans have people loved and/or hated?

Background:  I've had Sprint PCS service for some time and I've always had problems.  It has simply gotten to the point that I can't stand it any more.  I want a carrier with consistently good call quality and coverage area!  Is that too much to ask? Update: Hooray for polls!

New Alliance Party

Fri Jun 11, 2004 at 10:57:42 AM PDT

Does anybody know anything about the "New Alliance Party?"  I'm doing some research on a client who ran for Congress on the New Alliance Party ticket in '92 and I was just curious what these guys are all about.  The little bit I've found makes them seem pretty shady.  Any insights at all would be appreciated.

Thanks.
