Yet another new poll out of Iowa this morning, this one from McClatchy/MSNBC.

(Yes, I know that there are many different polls showing many different things.  Yes, I know that some of us don't care about polls.  Happily, there are thousands of other diaries for you!)

Let's go to the numbers.

The Clinton / Obama Kickback for Millionaires

Wed Dec 26, 2007 at 02:03:53 PM PDT

I've been watching in amazement as the Obama supporters here at dKos, the Obama campaign, and Barack Obama himself all criticize the attempts of organized labor to have a voice in the Democratic nomination race.

Stop Telling Us To Knock It Off. ALL of You!

Fri Oct 05, 2007 at 03:50:43 PM PDT

There's been a chorus of "concerned" folks recently telling us that all of the Democratic candidates are the same.  That they're all as electable as each of the others.  That they're all as good for progressives as each of the others.  And that we all ought to shut up, play nice, and be grateful that none of our prospective nominees is quite as bad as Joe Lieberman.

Find Yourself Another Candidate

Tue Aug 28, 2007 at 11:42:03 AM PDT

Kevin Drum reports:

The nation's poverty rate declined for the first time this decade, but the number of Americans without health insurance rose to a record high of 47 million in 2006, according to Census figures released today.

....The addition of 2.2 million people to the roster of the uninsured was attributed largely to continuing declines in employer-sponsored insurance coverage.

Hillary Sets Rabid Mark Penn Loose on Democrats

Wed Jun 27, 2007 at 09:17:18 PM PDT

Just to get folks up to speed, Mark Penn is Hillary Clinton's pollster and chief strategist.  Penn began his career working for Republicans.  Republican pollster and strategist Dick Morris brought Penn into Bill Clinton's orbit, where he eventually became Bill Clinton's lead strategist, and after 2000, Hillary's lead strategist as well.

Penn has generally been recognized as a DLC centrist during his time with the Clintons.  Obviously, real Democrats have never much liked the guy, but events brought to light recently have brought things to a much higher level of disgust.  At the beginning of May, Ari Berman in The Nation published an amazing expose of Penn.

Edwards Shows How to Really Support the Troops

Mon May 28, 2007 at 07:42:50 AM PDT

Of course, the best way to support the troops is to end this war.

Check out the website John Edwards has helped set up to focus community activity towards ending the war.  http://www.supportthetroopsendthewar.com/  The site offers a variety of ways for you to make your voice heard in the offline world on this Memorial Day.

Edwards Rejects Bush's "Global War on Terror" Worldview

Sat Apr 28, 2007 at 03:59:14 AM PDT

During Thursday night's Democratic debate, something interesting happened.  Brian Williams asked the candidates to raise their hand if they believe there is such a thing as a global war on terror.

MSNBC was so sure that Edwards, Obama, and Clinton would answer 'yes' to the GWoT that they reported that all three raised their hands.  After all, George Bush and Dick Cheney have been telling us all for the past 5 1/2 years that the Global War on Terror was the explanation for their psychotic foreign policy.

But MSNBC got it wrong.  John Edwards did not raise his hand.

Big Bold Transformational Change - Edwards Lays Down the Gauntlet

Fri Apr 06, 2007 at 03:30:59 AM PDT

Walter Shapiro, the Washington bureau chief of Salon.com, interviews John Edwards and writes a nice article about it.  Shapiro says:

Unraveling Edwards' subtext does not require a Derrida-spouting graduate student. Hillary Clinton is the obvious apostle of these "cautious, incremental steps," while Barack Obama is the undeniable master of feel-good rhetoric. What is most intriguing about the Edwards 2.0 campaign is how a once carefully calibrated, pro-war, mainstream Democrat has fashioned himself into the candidate of "big, bold transformational change."

Good Edwards Speech on C-SPAN @ 12:30 ET

Sun Sep 25, 2005 at 09:24:07 PM PDT

There's a pretty good John Edwards speech broadcast on C-SPAN as part of Road to the White House.  I saw it earlier this evening, and it's going to be rebroadcast at 12:30 AM EDT.

He talks about poverty and community in the wake of Katrina.  And it's a good illustration of a strong Democratic message that can reach beyond Karl Rove's politics of polarization.

It's also a pretty good illustration of how it's nice to have a great communicator delivering your message.

Clemons Conference

Tue Sep 06, 2005 at 08:17:19 AM PDT

If you're not watching C-SPAN 2 all day today and tomorrow, you're missing out.

Steve Clemons, the point man on defeating John Bolton, has put together an amazing conference on Terrorism, Security & America's Purpose.

Lots of heavy hitters and deep thinkers.

If you don't have cable, you can watch a simulcast at http://www.americaspurpose.org/

Check it out.  Good and rare stuff.
