George "Baby Face" Bush

Fri Apr 07, 2006 at 06:40:12 AM PDT

George Bush is like a bank robber.

I have the "authority" to take money from my bank account. But I can't walk into the bank and reach into the till and grab a handful of bills. I have forms to fill out. I have to notify the bank I am taking the money so that they can do right by all the other customers. If I just walk into the bank and take money it is a crime. It is a crime against the bank, it is a crime against all the bank's customers, it is a crime against society.

George Bush has the "authority" to declassify information. But he needs to fillout forms too. He can't just reach into the national till of secret information and grab what he wants without telling the bank.

Ashamed of voting for Bush?

Fri Nov 19, 2004 at 08:19:34 AM PDT

So is it just that many more people lied to exit pollers this year than in the past?
I voted for Kerry. I gave him money. I gave money to the Greens for the recount. I so much want there to be fraud and have Kerry put in the White House.
Having said all that, I do have a theory about the discrepent exit polls that has been nibbling away at the back of my mind. This was crystallized by listening to Randi Rhodes on the drive home last night. It seems like alot of Bush voters cannot give a coherent reason why they voted for him, even to close family members. So are we seeing the fruits of the Rovian reptile brain approach? Has the "all terror, all the time" message short circuited many higher brain functions? Our tongue and cheek, "don't change horsemen in the middle of an apocolypse" actually resonates with alot of people.

Calling all Governors

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 11:09:29 AM PDT

Are we learning yet?? We need to nominate a Governor for the White House.

What was George Bush?  A Governor
What was Bill Clinton? A Governor
What was Ronald Reagan? A Governor
What was Jimmy Carter?  A Governor
What was Lyndon Johnson? A Governor

What is Jeb Bush?   A Governor

And no I don't mean Howard Dean.  We need a person from a big (red or swing, not blue) state, with ideally a military background. Oh, and being an ordained minister would help (or at least a documented, regular church goer).

We need to become Republicans

Wed Nov 03, 2004 at 09:16:02 AM PDT

At least in the primaries next time. We need to cross over register and destroy the right wing crazies from the inside. Help moderate Republican candidates win their primaries. Deny the nutjobs access to the general election where the next wave of hate amendments (and you know they will come) propel the sheeple to vote for them. And we have to recognize that it is in our ideological interest to foster coalitions with the moderate Republicans.
I 'm in NY so I don't have to worry about  this so much. But I would urge Democrats elsewhere to consider nipping the likes of Coburn and DeMint in the bud during the primaries.
We have to recognize that we have the short end of an ideological stick. The party labels limit our mobility in this battle. In Congress we have to work hard on producing coalitions with the moderate Republicans. We have to co-opt the Republican lexicon. For starters I would suggest always labelling the Red states as welfare queens and non-stop point out the flow of wealth from blue to red America with every spending bill.
