What Some West Viriginians Think of Obama
Sun May 11, 2008 at 03:40:33 PM PDT
Interested in what Hillary's hard-working white Americans think of Obama?
This article titled, "Democratic country keeps its distance from Obama," sheds some light on some very disheartening information.
Like most people in Mingo County, West Virginia, Leonard Simpson is a lifelong Democrat. But given a choice between Barack Obama and John McCain in November, the 67-year-old retired coalminer would vote Republican.
"I heard that Obama is a Muslim and his wife’s an atheist," said Mr Simpson, drawing on a cigarette outside the fire station in Williamson, a coalmining town of 3,400 people surrounded by lush wooded hillsides.
Michelle's an atheist? Well, that's a new one for me—but I'm not surprised to read that. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to read that some people think she's a Klingon. Because they read it on the Internet.

AP: In Praise of Wolf Blitzer: "Attack Dog" Journalist
Sat Jul 21, 2007 at 08:01:08 AM PDT
No, that's not my description since I don't live in a parallel universe, it's the description used in an article written by the AP, and published here on CNN. The man most remembered, in my eyes, for uttering the immortal words, "So poor...so black..." during the height of the Hurricane Katrina human tragedy, has now been reinvented, if this story is to be believed, as an "attack dog," willing to take on belligerant guests in his unstoppable quest for the truth.
Roll your eyeballs back to the front of your heads to read the rest.
House GOP Calls for DeLay Replacement
Fri Jan 06, 2006 at 06:17:02 PM PDT
Hopefully, the next guy they pick will be someone with more subtle plastic surgery and a higher-quality rug.
Yahoo has the story
Embattled Rep. Tom DeLay's hopes of reclaiming his position as House majority leader suffered a potentially fatal setback on Friday as a growing number of fellow Republicans called for new leadership in the midst of a congressional corruption scandal.
"It's clear that we need to elect a new majority leader to restore the trust and confidence of the American people," said Rep. Jim Ramstad (news, bio, voting record) of Minnesota, as two fellow Republicans circulated a petition calling for new elections.
Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., whose own hold on power appears secure, signaled he would not stand in the way of elections that could produce changes in several leadership posts.
Guess Who's a New FEMA Consultant
Mon Sep 26, 2005 at 03:48:30 PM PDT
[From the diaries -- Hunter Update [2005-9-26 21:56:30 by Hunter]: CBS updates: "Later this evening, CBS News correspondent Gloria Borger spoke with a spokesman for FEMA, Russ Knocke, who confirmed that Brown remains on the FEMA payroll. He also said that technically Brown remains at FEMA as a 'contractor' and he is 'transitioning out of his job.' The reason he will remain at FEMA about a month after his resignation, said the spokesman, is that the agency wants to get the 'proper download of his experience.'"]
Mike Brown. Yeah, that Mike Brown. He's been hired by the agency as a consultant.
Bob Scheiffer announced this on CBS News moments ago, stating that Brown annouced his re-hiring to congressional staffers. Guess what he'll be in charge of? SIGH. He will help evaluate how FEMA responded to the disaster.
I wish I were making this up.

U.S. Drops Banning Media from Body Hunt
Rather than fight a lawsuit by CNN, the federal government abandoned its effort Saturday to prevent the media from reporting on the recovery of the dead in New Orleans.
Joint Task Force Katrina "has no plans to bar, impede or prevent news media from their news gathering and reporting activities in connection with the deceased Hurricane Katrina victim recovery efforts," said Col. Christian E. deGraff, representing the task force.

PageOneQ:
In a phone call recorded by PageOneQ and blogACTIVE.com, Robert Traynham, Director of Communications for United States Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) has said he is an out gay man who completely supports the Senator.
So I guess Mr. Traynham also supports the Senator's ongoing, relentless homophobic platform?
When asked how a gay man could speak for one of the nation's most notorious homophobes, Traynham ,,, protested that has "been with the Senator for eight years." Traynham went on to say "Senator Santorum is a man of principle, he is a man who sticks up for what he believes in, I strongly do support Senator Santorum."
