Don't get too excited, I'm just tossing an idea out there.
I have written many poor diaries and I think one or two good ones and I think this may be my third.
I usually start by saying something about who I am or how I view politics or the world depending on the context and this one will be no different....
I am a moderate Democrat, I believe that our representatives main job is to get things done. I make an assumption based on being a human that they will not always get what they want and I am okay with that, as I rarely get all that I want or even close.
That being said I'm asking some of the more prolific Obama hat....(*just kidding). I mean progressive voters to really entertain an idea.
I believe my view of the political process and how things should move forward puts me at odds with a lot of progressives but if there is one political principle that I can't see giving up ever, it would be that....I don't vote for Republicans.
Aside from that I am flexible or am at least willing to consider that the vast majority of my principles can't be applied to another human being.
I can already hear it now....
"That's not the way to convince people to do __"
"It's our responsibility to ___"
blah...blah...blah...puke, that's right I just puked in my mouth a little bit.
Why am I puking in my mouth you ask?(even if you didn't)
I'm a wait and see kind of person, so when progressive heads exploded over this article, I knew it was time to do a little bit of digging.
For those of you familiar with me, I am an Obamabot, I am an apologist, I am one of the people clapping louder, so calling me these types of names and or suggesting that I am somehow deficient because you feel my support for the president is either unfounded or undeserving or whatever doesn't bother me.
I can dish insults as well as I get them but we don't have to do that do we?
I am what many of you would call a black person. I consider myself to be bi-racial if that is a proper technical term but I fully understand the responsibility and challenges that come with having this wonderful hue. I've spent my life in small town Canada, big city America, and the in between areas.
I'm qualifying this because I have a guilty pleasure that I believe is somewhat related. I check up on Herman Cain from time to time:(...
I know, I know....but I do, I like to see how far America has come since Barack's election and so I was cruising politico and saw he spent...I mean "raised" $2.46M last quarter but I also saw that a couple of his Iowa staff resigned (my dog just farted and it stunk so bad I lost my internet connection).
Anywho...as I scrolled down the page I came across another blip and it kind of through me for a loop...
Because hate leads to things like this...
He even married a white woman to prove his bona fides.
I'm certainly not saying that all black men who marry white women (and vice versa) marry for politics or personal gain. But in this case, the coincidences are far too massive to ignore.
He needed a way to prove himself and get what he wanted. So he married a white, conservative woman. He used her as a political tool to get on the court and live the sheltered life in the Plantation.
Thomas isn't an uncle tom because he married a white woman. He used that white woman to become an uncle tom.
I'm not the best writer so bare with me please, I find people jobs for a living and my frustration level is high, it's a bit long but I can help people and would like you to at least hear what I have to say.
This isn't going to be fun. I'm not under the illusion that racism is causing this number to be so high...the amount of racism in America will never be higher than it was when it was the stance of many state and local governments. Racism may be on the rise through conservative policies but from my perspective if racism was accounting for 2%(just a random number) of the black unemployment rate, it's probably accounting for 2.1% now.
I've been working in the employment field for ten years now. So I feel I can make a pretty sound assessment of why people don't get work. I'm not talking about a specific field, by the time people get to me, they have exhausted all of their options and made all the dumb choices a person can make. So again I feel pretty good about my assessment of the particular group I work with within that 16.2 percent.
I certainly hope this is goodbye.
Weiner is enough of a "fighter" to have stayed in his seat until it was ere..I mean election time but it appears that he is beginning to realize what he should have realized a long time ago.
Politics is a part of life it's not your life and one certainly is ill advised if they think they are the only one that can do the job effectively.
I tell my wife I love her no less than a dozen times a day, everyday.
When I wake up, before I go to sleep, if I go run an errand, when I go downstairs to mix it up with "you people", depending on how many text messages we send back and forth during the day it could easily surpass two dozen.
When we got back together for the last time, she would occasionally verbally express her concern that my saying it so many times during the day, would cause our commonly used phrase to lose it's meaning.
I said "LOGIC FAIL!!!!"(only I didn't say it like that)
and progressives placing a higher priority on watching The White House than the GOP candidates trying to move in.
I'm all for rooting out snakes in the grass but the longer this game, where President Barack Obama and all operations put forth by The White House to put a positive spin on the work it does, is a chief concern of the progressive wing of this site and others like it, goes on, the easier it will be for President Barack Obama to lose to a shitty GOP field.
I am going to start by making an assumption sir. My assumption being that although I am well aware of the possible level of frustration and I'moveritness you are, have, and will go through, I do not believe this is one battle you are keen to give up on.
Pardon my ignorance if I am way off base but I half (really? "half"? I'm leaving it cause I spotted it myself) to continue.
To quote a legend in this here game...
Another gem I felt fitting to the moment...
"We don't die, we multiply...."
In a interview with Chris Hedges published today on truthdig, moral philosopher, democratic intellectual, and the black face of the democratic socialist movement Cornel West speaks openly about his feelings of disillusionment about Barak Obama. While feeling misled by the Obama phenomenon, West also says that he needs to take responsibility for "reading into it more than was there."
Sir, I understand the grief and pain of losing a father. I also lost my natural father about five years ago and will lose the man who raised me one day, an event I do not look forward to. I personally believe your grieving should have began about ten years ago but wuddayagonnado?
Despite your dad being a murderous pig who died with a dignity he did not allow the 3,000 people he killed on September 11th, 2001 not to mention the thousands of others that have and will die because of the aftermath, I understand your pain.
