Clinton's new $6.4 million loan

Wed May 07, 2008 at 06:11:06 AM PDT

This diary will be short, since my only source is a single line of text. Yeah, I know. :(

Swiftboating, Obama, and the agenda

Mon Apr 28, 2008 at 06:36:03 PM PDT

This is a sort of rebuttal to icebergslim's well-written diary on why Wright's comments don't matter, and about how those who think otherwise are somehow "new to politics." I'd like to go over some recent history to show that the Rev. Wright issue isn't just going to go away; or, that if it is destined to fade into the aether, that it might do so too late.

So I went to an Obama rally

Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 06:53:35 PM PDT

Sorry, there are no photos in this diary, but if you've ever read a diary on this subject, you can probably imagine what they look like.

It doesn't really matter, anyway, since I was up in the rafters. The guy giving me a ride felt that writing his history paper on time was more important than getting good seats at the rally. I told him that if we didn't leave early, we would get horrible seats, but I was wrong -- we didn't get a seat at all. We had to stand up behind the bleachers.

Iraqi blogger post, edited

Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 11:21:44 PM PDT

Below the fold is my favorite blog post. It was written by Mohammed, a 25 year old dentist in Baghdad posting at the site last-of-iraqis.blogspot.com. English is not his first language. I decided to completely revise his post to make his message more easy to follow. Please don't rec this diary. It's meant to be a resource for me to come back to, and for me to point others to when I want to show them a fantastic firsthand account of the Iraq war and occupation. If you can get some utility out of it, so much the better. I encourage you to read it, or, if you prefer to read Mohammed's own words, to read the original post here.

We need Paul Volcker

Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 05:39:23 AM PDT

Of all the men who have had a positive impact on the U.S. economy in the last 40 years, Paul Volcker is probably the one who has done the most. This will be a fairly short diary, but if at the end of it you know why Paul Volcker saved the economy and how that applies to us today, then I've done something positive.

An open letter to Mr. Olbermann

Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 10:14:24 PM PDT

It's time for another of your special comments -- one discussing Hillary Clinton.

A few years ago I watched you become more and more stressed as you witnessed the actions of President Bush and his administration. I saw all of that anger and frustration come out in one glorious fell swoop in your very first special comment.

Voters that elect good government vote Obama

Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 03:27:19 PM PDT

Recently, a division of The Pew Charitable Trusts, The Pew Center on the States, graded how each individual state government governs each state. Three governments tied for first: Virginia, Utah, and Washington State. I noticed that each of those states was won by Obama, so I did a simple analysis correlating the grades of each state with who won each state.

The results are clear: for whatever reason, voters that elect good state governments also voted for Barack Obama.

New polls: The Clinton Campaign Doesn't Get It

Tue Feb 26, 2008 at 08:35:22 AM PDT

There are two pieces of evidence this morning that show that the Clinton campaign just doesn't understand what they're doing.

The first is the story in the NYT that states that the Clinton campaign is currently throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Obama in preparation for the primaries in Texas and Ohio.

The second piece of evidence is the polls for Texas and Ohio themselves: the just-released Rasmussen poll in Ohio showing that Clinton's lead, which was at at least fifteen points two weeks ago, is now at just five points, and the poll for Texas, which shows a complete tossup that will almost certainly go Obama's way because of the caucus on the night of March 4.

The Rest of the Race

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 11:59:34 AM PDT

At this point, most Kossacks are looking forward to the contests on March 4th. Clearly, so is Sen. Clinton. She appears to be skipping Wisconsin entirely in her desire to campaign in Texas and Ohio. The question that struck me today was this: How badly must Sen. Clinton defeat Sen. Obama in Ohio, Texas, and Pennsylvania, in order to regain the lead in pledged delegates when Denver rolls around? In my analysis, I'll be looking at contests before and after March 4.

All delegate counts come from CBS. Puerto Rico info in this link.
