Washingon-level Drug Cover Up: You think this was the first time?
Sun Dec 03, 2006 at 03:52:39 PM PDT
Time for a major history lesson on how the so-called "War on Drugs" has been masqueraded and used as a political and military weapon - and very successfully. As someone forced to go to the clinic every day to deal with drug addiction, I take this very seriously.
I am posting this after the diary Trail of Drug Linked Killings Lead to Washington Cover Up" by CTliberal showed very concerning (to say the least) evidence of a new Washington-Level drug cover-up. Jack Abramoff going to jail only gives this more relevance today.
So, if you don't know, it is time to learn exactly what our country has done behind the scenes: done by the very same men [neocons] that are in power today. The latest below the fold.
Treatment for Opiate [Heroin/Oxycontin] Addiction
Fri Dec 01, 2006 at 12:31:14 AM PDT
I once a long time ago wrote a diary about this topic, being personally someone afflicted with opiate addiction, and it sparked very much interest, and got me started writing out against the so-called "War on Drugs".
With a group of drugs called Opiates or Opioids, namely Heroin and Oxycontin (oxycodone), growing very much into a new "boom" in the United States and across the world, this topic becomes even more important. When we took down the Taliban, that the year before we invaded Afghanistan changed it's policy to outlaw opium production (sucessfully), anarchy reigned. Now most of Afghanistan's economy comes from opium crops, and the Heroin that is produced along the Afghan-Pakistan border where Bin Laden was allegedly hiding, largely by Pakistani Intelligence that we support.
The situation in Afghanistan/Pakistan is very grim, and heroin is cheaper and more potent than every across Europe due to it (we get our high quality heroin in the United States from Columbia or Mexico.)
But this isn't a political diary. This is about the treatment for "the hardest drug", so that we may better understand it - and there is plenty of law along the way.
"Credit" - The Invisible Class Barrier that is Only Growing in Exclusion of Average Americans.
Sat Nov 25, 2006 at 10:04:43 PM PDT
I want a mortgage. Like many Americans, I have little to no hope in getting it. I can forget about getting a house with my new wife (whom is Australian and offers nothing in this regard.)
Why can't I get a mortgage? Because of "Credit Scores" (otherwise known as FICO - "Fair/*cough/* Issac Credit Score(s)".) Every American with credit or collection agencies against them should have three of these from the three (major) credit bureaus.
Aside from the "calculated risk" that credit card companies take in giving college students (i.e. likely higher class citizens) low-limit credit cards, and co-signing by a family member (again, indicating you are likely from a higher "class"), credit isn't given to those that don't meet the ridiculously high and stiff credit rules, that are only bypassed if they can be at all by ridiculously high interest rates - rates that should be illegal. Write to your Reps!
I don't know what says "class system" more than a number to judge you by. It's not only used by creditors, for that matter! Plenty more inc. targetting of military families & poor below the fold.
It took a 92-year-old woman shot dead
Thu Nov 23, 2006 at 05:07:16 AM PDT
A 92-year-old woman was another of the hundreds of thousands of victims of the "War on Drugs" itself (millions if we go global), shot by police in yet another botched raid (no, this is not some isolated incidence.) See below the fold.
Iraq: An unnecessary, unwinnable, and ill conceived war that everyone with a sane mind wants us out of.
The War on Drugs: An unnecessary, unwinnable, and ill concieved war that everyone with a sane mind SHOULD want us out of.
It kills just as well, including innocent Americans. It is cruel and inhumane (read on). It hurts America's wallet at a time when we need the money desperately just as well or more. Most importantly, despite all that: It goes against the most important principles of this country: liberty and privacy, virtually identical to abortion rights.

This diary is inspired by DON'T JUST DO Something, Sit There! Start 2008 Blogging Red to Blue Today by SLJ from a couple of days ago.
Do you live in one of the 200 or so Congressional Districts with a Republican representative? Do you live in one of the 21 states with a Republican senator up for re-election in 2008? Can you spare a mere one hour a week to help contest every seat on Election Day 2008?
(I am not pimping his diary as I don't even know him and it's days old at that. This is not SPAM as I am not asking for anything but instead offering to put $10 cash on the line - a donation of sorts - to you - the grassroots. Read on.)
Liberal bloggers, acting as individuals as opposed to posting diaries on the Dailykos for example, only add more weight to our corner. In this modern world, you would be doing your country a great service.
[UPDATED] Lies (aka Why we Must Demand, not Request, Impeachment.)
Wed Nov 15, 2006 at 06:35:02 PM PDT
I was browsing the
White Rose Society to
pleasantly learn that the viscious and refreshingly partisan Mike Malloy is back on the air. Unforunately it is not Air America where he belongs. But this is not about Mike, despite his excellent arguments for impeachment that was delved in depth yesterday (11/14/07).
I was scrolling down, and I saw a familiar clip. A clip that anyone could have made, but Mike Malloy did it well. To quote him, "When you hear the lies, the lies chunked together, about the Weapons of Mass Destruction, it's just overwhelming."
PLEASE, take 8 minutes of your day, and listen to it. (I think I am going to plop a copy on my server to host it myself to not bog down White Rose Society's servers. short version.)
"Wargate": It blows Watergate out of the water.
Yes folks, this diary is a statement about something we might have all forgotten about after all the other scandal and outrage that Bush has thrown at us - The complete and utter bullshit about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq.
Why we must reject Gates
Fri Nov 10, 2006 at 07:25:45 PM PDT
(aka War on Drugs: The Neocons)
I am going to re-post an combination of the important parts of diaries I made entitled "War on Drugs: The Masquerade", Part II and Part III, with some overhaul to include Gates. At the time I made some references to Negroponte as he was the topic of the day and likely due to that Part II made the front page.
I hope to repeat that accomplishment.
We absolutely cannot allow Gates to become the next head of the Pentagon. He is another member of the Reagan-Bush neocon crime "end justifies the means" character. We must say an absolute NO to the neocons and their officially failed agenda that includes, ad nauseaum, deceit and crimes against the American people. Their failed policies lost at the polls and it is long past time we leave them there.
Not Again.
Wed Nov 08, 2006 at 01:12:16 AM PDT
We cannot allow any shenanigans to change the outcome of the election in Montana, or Vermont for that matter.
#1 - Victory must be declared immediately. Have them prove you DIDN'T win instead of the other way around. Become the "default" that almost always goes with the Republican ticket. Please, anyone in any position, make sure Tester gets this valuable advice (that is not solely mine).
Is today is the day?
Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 01:43:52 AM PDT
Today is the day that we take a small first step towards taking back the country, by regaining control of the House of Representatives and gaining governship of several States. It is a day that we won't get through without extreme diligence, and through our perseverance that
must continue through the election, and our refusal to let the corrupt fascistic regime in Washington commit crimes against democracy and the Constitution that they swore to uphold and protect.
Today is the day that we take that first step.
But is today the day we begin creating real change in America and the world, offering more than an alternative of "Republican Light"? Is today truly the turning point against the dominant fascistic politics?
Unfortunately, there is a large segment of voters we could count in our column but don't care enough to vote. There are a solid 5%+ of Americans that use drugs or are addicted to drugs and aren't going to bother to vote because they know it won't make a difference.
Is today the day we prove them wrong? Is today we cast our vote with certain expectations and create a true democracy?
Drug Prohibition: A History (Part III - Marijuana Special)
Sat Mar 04, 2006 at 05:17:13 AM PDT
You all remember me, right? I did a very long series on the "War on Drugs" right here on the DailyKos, was frontpaged for
War on Drugs: The Masquerade (Part II of III), as well as pretty much writing the
War on Drugs page on Dkospedia. It's been over a year since I have posted anything. After a harsh event with Maryscott O'Connor (whom I have mended fences with and am currently writing something for her,) I left the DailyKos and started my own blog.
That blog went down about a year ago. I have now restarted that blog - Drug War Revealed, and have a whole blog host called HeroinDiaries (in which I am currently offering free webspace and much more to anyone - with or without a drug problem, and am looking for authors re politics,) and have even a personal blog there, nephalim (sorry for the lack of apparent creativity.)
Well, it's time I posted an entry that never got posted here, and I am hoping it's content alone - a part 3 of 4 of a history series - will be a spark to start my drug war blog moving again.
(Pretty Teaser Graphic)
Drug Prohibition: Liberty, Power, and Control. (Failed Repost)
Wed Apr 20, 2005 at 02:51:20 PM PDT
(reposted at the request of a few)
(Cross-posted from my blog, Drug War Revealed. After the response to my last diary, I felt the need to articulate a few things a little better. Plus, this is a part of my series, the only one that is missing from the DailyKos. I fear it wasn't my best, however, I am experiencing a little writers block with the recent events in my life.)
With all that's going on in government, this seems sorely needed. Power and Control is the name of a blog by one of our guest bloggers, M. Simon. Power and Control is something very applicable to the situation today, and especially ever since the 60s. There are two ways this manifests in government, in foreign policy and domestic policy. We are going to talk about domestic policy, as foreign policy is another topic altogether. Don't worry, I will get there. In the meantime, try reading War on Drugs: The Masquerade Series.

Yeah, you are? You believe it's a woman's right to choose what she does with her body?
Oh, you aren't? You do acknowledge that it's a woman's right to choose what she does with her body, you just believe that abortion is murder. I don't really agree, but understandable.

The Most Massive Propaganda Campaign in History: Drug Prohibition. [REVERTED]
Sun Mar 13, 2005 at 08:49:36 AM PDT
With the recent revelations about propaganda in our government, this is becoming a hot botton issue - and I will do my best to give you a diary that is very relevant to today.
Propaganda wasn't invented yesterday - it goes back as far as can be imagined, and is especially prevelant in matters of war. However, there is no single issue in modern history that has been riddled with more propaganda than drug prohibition and the so-called "War on Drugs" - and that includes war - except, perhaps, the Cold War. I am astonished that what is going on now is an "outrage", but what has been going on for years and years and years is essentially a "shrug-off".
I have written a lot of diaries lately. Perhaps they were not the quality of my extensive history diaries, for example. Well, I want to give you something to be proud of again before I immerse myself in my book.
Finally, I will follow the very wise Maryscott OConnor's advice and start telling you exactly what we can do about this garbage. If you think it's important, then read on, recommend (this will likely be the last time I will ask this of you,) and act.

War on Drugs: Art Linkletter (USA-Next) [Nixon Follow-up #1] [UPDATED]

"War on Drugs": A History (The Origin of "Moral Values")
Wed Mar 09, 2005 at 09:37:06 PM PDT
Yes, that's "War on Drugs": A History (The Origin of "Moral Values") - a special edition; Drug Prohibition: A History (Part III of IV) - Marijuana Special) will be coming next. I decided to skip ahead (as it's fairly anti-dem, for one reason), and today we are going to start from ground zero: the early 1970s. Why? Because I started re-reading some things, and there were certain things that really startled me - in the sense that it's a story everyone here at the DailyKos should (and I assume would like) to hear.
The story of how Nixon started the "Moral Values" BS - via launching the "War on Drugs" (and even linking it to gays) and how the Democrats are still scared speechless.
I have said a few times: As a former heroin addict currently in (buprenorphine) maintenance, this issue clearly means alot to me. But not to most. And I will continue to ask them, why?
Well, I think I have figured it out.
Should I continue? ("War on Drugs") [UPDATED]
Sun Mar 06, 2005 at 12:48:52 PM PDT
OK, I have got to do what will come off as a bit of whining. I'm sorry. But there is a serious question here.
As many of you may or may not know, I am writing a book. I also work, super full-time (2+ hour commute.) I can find time to do all three of these things, write my book, write these diaries, and work for one reason: because I spend my free time doing this.
I wrote a diary last night, War on Drugs: The War on Doctors. I thought that a great many people would care about the subject matter. I was wrong. And one asshole - to be blunt - really soured me.
It had a great resemblence to my last two diaries, Does the Dailykos not care about Drug Reform, and Drug War: BIG news! King County Bar Association asks Wash. State to tell Feds to butt out, in that it was pretty mediocre in response. 15+- Recommends, same amount of 'tips', with maybe 15 people commenting.
