check out the home page today. Who are the enemies of the GOPeople? Ned Lamont? Check. Mike Moore? Check. Chairman Dean? Check!!! Congressman Murtha? Check! And now the fifth most wanted man in the non reality based community? Someone's kid? Someone's younger brother? Who is that? He doesn't look that scary to me.....oh...its the dreaded KOS! Run for your lives!!
Not bad. Some guy starts a website, writes some things, and now he is on the top 5 most wanted.
People power. Scares the shit out of them.
Now...make sure to go check out the site before I do what any good and normal blogger would do and hack it to pieces.
"There's a general agreement among Republicans (opposing the raise) that "maybe we don't like it much, but we need to move forward with it just for political reasons."
So they control everything but they are going to do something they don't want to do? Running scared.
This was last month
Democrats have made increasing the wage a pillar of their campaign platform and are pushing to raise the wage to $7.25 per hour over two years. In June, the Republican-controlled Senate refused to raise the minimum wage, rejecting a proposal from Democrats.
Now, how about we get some Democrats to start standing up, fighting and showing some spine so we can actually take bakc the house and senate. ATTACK!!
Wage stagnation, long the bane of blue-collar workers, is now hitting people with bachelor's degrees for the first time in 30 years. Earnings for workers with four-year degrees fell 5.2 percent between 2000 and 2004 when adjusted for inflation, according to White House economists.
So it goes this year for House Republicans, their majority in jeopardy for the first time in more than a decade. Take an unpopular president, factor in deep divisions in the GOP ranks and add to that Democrats determined to regain control. It all means a Congress having trouble doing its most basic job: passing legislation.
When was the last time you heard a democrat described as "determined" in the press? When was the last time you heard the republicans described as "deeply divided"? I like the looks of that. And then to wrap it up we get the Republicans accusing the Democrats of "playing politics" for wanting to raise the minimum wage.
Republicans point out that Democrats are not above bringing up proposals just for political gain. They note that Democrats have insisted on bringing up a proposal to raise the minimum wage, which has failed for nine years.
Here's hoping the democrats keep "insisting" to bring up that issue.
According to the Gillibrand camp, her latest Federal Election Commission filing will show she has raised just a tad over $500,000 over the past three months. Sweeney's campaign (in a missive forwarded by Sweeney ally, Clifton Park GOP Chairman Mike Lisuzzo) declared that he has raised $479,000 during the last quarter.
Sweeney will also soon be the target of a state investigation for using our NY tax dollars to tax 40 friends and lobbyists on a ski weekend in Lake Placid.
It's just so easy to say, let somebody else deal with it
But, I thought being president was hard work? I guess that is another challenge W has overcome. So, what was George talking about?
Bloggers traditionally quote articles and link to them in much the same way Google's News site does. This means they can no longer do that with AFP news items without threat of a lawsuit.

I know there has been a lot of talk about the Feds regulating political blogs but I haven't seen anything here about this.
Let's pretend this story was written in early 2002 (when it should've been). Let's pretend that they actually listened to Richard Clarke. Let's pretend that by "taking the battle to the terrorists" in Iraq we are making the world safer. Let's pretend that Tommy Thompson never talked about how unprepared we were when he resigned.
Let's pretend we feel safer. What is the terror alert for "safe"? Green? Blue? How come they never announce that one?
But they are on the job...now. At my job this wouldn't fly. If a couple thousand people died on my watch and I took 4 years to implement basic safety procedures and then touted my "big success" (We thought it was a nuke but it was only a fire extinguisher!) I think I'd be out of a job. Shit, if I didn't change the lard in the deep fryer and someone complained I'd be in more trouble than these criminals.
What do you think Senator Byrd?

And its going to be retroactive in case any of the 1,400 or so families that have already lost family members in the war were second guessing this whole charade.
Now about reinstating the draft....

It is a "How To" guide showing you how to become a millionaire via the military and at the same time touts how our lucky millionaire claims social security is part of her retirement plan but her "personal private" investing is where she plans to REALLY make her money.
Odd timing on this article. And no less than home page placement on CNN?
"Access to networks like the World Wide Web might need to be limited to those who can show they take security seriously"
And:
"I know that these actions will be controversial in this age when we still think the Internet is a free and open society with no control or accountability," he told an information-technology security conference in Washington, "but ultimately the Wild West must give way to governance and control."
Oh...wow. "when we still think the Internet is a free and open society" Damn. I just got use to thinking the USA wasn't free and open and that hasn't been easy. I'm not sure I'll let the internet go so easily. Read all about Tenet's great ideas here:
