Yep. The title of this diary is the subject line of an email I received today from Floyd Brown, of "" No link to this shithole here, though, sorry.

But the title of this youtube video, which purports to show this distressing, violent act by the uppity arrogant POTUS, is "Obama grabs white woman to make her shut up." This is a very subtle, hard to notice tactic sometimes called a "dogwhistle" by some, which may have something to do with, oh, I don't know - racial prejudices, maybe.

[humorous update: yesterday, after this diary had been up a while, the racist asshole who put the video up changed the title to "Calm and Confident President Obama reassures a worried voter," but left the hideous explanation unchanged. Then, this morning, I awoke to seeing it changed to "Obama repeatedly touches white woman to make her shut up," as though it was the word "grab" that was offensive. Hilarity.]

Rachel's ninth birthday wish

by qannabbos

What can you do with $300? You could provide essential clean drinking water for people in drought-afflicted, undeveloped countries. Not for a lot of people, but every little bit helps. This was the wish of eight-year-old Rachel:

who had a great idea for her ninth birthday - she'd set up a donation page, with a goal of collecting $300 to provide life-giving water to the needy. In her words,

On June 12th 2011, I'm turning 9. I found out that millions of people don't live to see their 5th birthday. And why? Because they didn't have access to clean, safe water so I'm celebrating my birthday like never before. I'm asking from everyone I know to donate to my campaign instead of gifts for my birthday. Every penny of the money raised will go directly to fund freshwater projects in developing nations. Even better, every dollar is "proved" when the projects are complete, and photos and GPS coordinates are posted using Google Earth. My goal is to raise $300 by my birthday, June 12, 2011. Please consider helping me.

Thank you so much!!!

But Rachel was tragically killed in a car accident, two days before her birthday. Come with me, below the fold, to see what's become of Rachel's dream.

The system isn't entirely broken! Dane County Judge MaryAnn Sumi has struck down Wisconsin's controversial new anti-collective bargaining law as violating the State's open-meeting law.

Dane County Judge MaryAnn Sumi issued a permanent injunction against the law Thursday morning. This means the law is effectively dead until the Wisconsin Supreme Court acts on the law.
