Only the Super Rich and Fetuses have Life Value
Thu Nov 01, 2007 at 03:53:47 AM PDT
This is the conclusion I have come to after listening to years of Republican Values.
If you are a Soldier you are expendable.
If you are a Diplomat you are expendable.
If you are an Employee you are expendable.
If you are Sick you are expendable.
If you are Poor you are expendable.
If you are a Liberal you are expendable.
If you are Gay you are expendable.
If you are Black you are expendable.

Ireland is in need of some outsourcing job opportunities. I have an Irish background, my grandmother on my father's side was an Irish immigrant and I grew up with lots of Irish catholics.
Anyways, I just got this e-mail:

SERFS! It's Time to Revolt!
Fri Oct 26, 2007 at 02:27:11 AM PDT
Soon the have-nots will be labelled with an old term: The SERF
SERF - Obs. A serf was defined by three things: he/she was bound to the land; they could not travel freely; they had no legal rights in the courts, and; they could not testify in courts of law.
During the feudal times certain persons who were bound to perform very onerous duties towards others, were so called. There is this essential difference between a serf and a slave; the serf was bound simply to labor on the soil where he was born, without any right to go elsewhere without the consent of his lord; but he was free to act as he pleased in his daily action: the slave on the contrary is the property of his master, who may require him to act as he pleases in every respect, and who may sell him as a chattel.

Once Cheney/Bush is gone will Christian Neocons go too?
Thu Oct 18, 2007 at 07:28:49 AM PDT
I hope. This is a recap for future reference regarding The Christian Neocons (who helped coin the Christian Nation code word so I am going to call them what they are) seems to have only been around since 1997. The major members got their ambition when Reagen was elected and when the republicans gained the majority foot hold in Congress.
Statement of Principles
Our aim is to remind Americans of these lessons and to draw their consequences for today. Here are four consequences:
• we need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global
responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future;
• we need to strengthen our ties to democratic allies and to challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values;
• we need to promote the cause of political and economic freedom abroad;
• we need to accept responsibility for America's unique role in preserving and extending an international order friendly to our security, our prosperity, and our principles.
The Rot Starts at the Top- America not so Beautiful
Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 04:26:06 AM PDT
In Politics, Democracy, Corporations, Churches, Countries the rot starts at the top. The trickle down affect is working.
The rot starts at the top. Almost as soon as they elected Bush in 2004 they seemed to regret it. Since Katrina, his favourability ratings have been stuck in the 30s and show no signs of moving - or at least not upwards. Bush's only comfort is that public approval of the Democratically controlled Congress is even worse, hovering just below where it was shortly before the 2006 elections. In other words, however Americans believe their country will return to the right track, they no longer trust politicians to get them there.
But things started rotting long before this Bush.
The Rule of Law is So Gone

The man who knew too much
Twenty years too late:
Barlow still would not give up. His almost pathological tenacity was one of the characteristics that made him a great analyst. With no salary and few savings, he found a lawyer who agreed to represent him pro-bono. At this point, more documents surfaced linking several familiar names to Barlow's sacking and its aftermath; these included Cheney's chief of staff, Libby, and two officials working for Wolfowitz. Through his lawyer, Barlow discovered that he was being described as a tax evader, an alcoholic and an adulterer, who had been fired from all previous government jobs. It was alleged that his marriage counselling was a cover for a course of psychiatric care, and he was put under pressure to permit investigators to interview his marriage guidance adviser. "I had to explain to Cindy that her private fears were to be trawled by the OSD. She moved out. My life, professionally and personally, was destroyed. Cindy filed for divorce."
Conyers Says Bush Declared War not Congress
Fri Oct 12, 2007 at 08:25:26 AM PDT
John Conyers was just talking on CSPAN 2 at some get together with lawyers and members of the Judiciary Committee in Congress and Senate. (Sorry I wasn't paying close attention as I was trying to get back on dkos after another maintenance thing). But I did hear Rep. John Conyers say the following-
A question about funding the Occupation in Iraq came up and Rep. Conyers restated.
This is not Congress's war. This is Bush's war. Only congress can declare war according to our Constitution. Congress did not declare war. Congress only voted on enhancing the power of the Executive Branch (Bushco) because of 9/11's heightened terror concerns.
Viva Viagra and Steroids-Drugs in Politics
Tue Oct 09, 2007 at 02:41:13 AM PDT
Real men use to eat quiche, ah, the good old days.
Now, if anyone here honestly thinks that Thompson, Guilianni, Kucinich, Dodd, Biden etc., aren't on viagara must be kidding themselves. They all have much younger wives and lets face it girls, we know most old men can't get it up on their own. (Hillary cancelled Bill's supply and we all know why.) Can't figure out yet what HRC, Obama or Edwards are on but they must take something??
In fact, I would dare say that along with the flag lapel pin (which probably has a tracking RFID chip in it), viagara and steroids must be part of the powerful patriotic, political initiation package one is given when one enters politics.
Selective Hypocrisy- This is a perfect example

What is a church now a days? If the following is becoming the norm god/Tao/Allah help us all.
Thou Shalt Not Kill, Except in a Popular Video Game at Church
Across the country, hundreds of ministers and pastors desperate to reach young congregants have drawn concern and criticism through their use of an unusual recruiting tool: the immersive and violent video game Halo.

TOPOFF #4 Terror Drill -OCT.15- Timing ODD or SUSPECT?
Thu Oct 04, 2007 at 02:24:43 AM PDT
I do not trust Bushco or the Government and for good reasons. So I find the timing of the next TOPOFF TERROR DRILL's curious. It is scheduled for October 15-19 2007. It is curious to me especially because of the upcoming elections.
Many of us believe that GWB's election in 2000 was illegal. Is this some more proof of that? Were the wheels of BUSHCO churning before November 2000?
Here's a bit of history of TOPOFF that I've been able to find.
TOPOFF was first conducted in MAY 2000 and involved thousands of federal, state, and local personnel, along with top U.S. officials including the Attorney General, Secretary of Health and Human Services, FBI Director, FEMA Director, and two state governors.
Finally, Something to Thank Bushco and GOP For

Thought this would perk us up a bit.
'Old-Fashioned Values'
Don't get me wrong, I believe in many old fashion family values- like love, honesty, respect, peace, commitment etc., which have been terribly turned around by skewed actions of many on the right with pseudo christianity, war, fear tactics, LIES etc.
Found at the bottom of linked article:
Pew found that between 1987 and this year, for example, support for "old-fashioned values about family and marriage" had dropped 11 percentage points. The percentage of those who said gay teachers should be fired dropped 23 points, Pew said. Support for U.S. global engagement and "peace through military strength" also shrank.
More Minds are opening. That is a good thing!
Stop Blaming the 'Good' Politicians
Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 03:37:59 AM PDT
The more I read here at dkos the more I question. That's a good thing. I wrestle with the big financed politicians' corporate interests and our capitalism and the very small part we, the people have been left to play with in the process. Many dislike these politicians yet praise capitalism in the same sentence.
That's what confuses me-the talking out of both sides of one mouth.
The founding fathers of the United States were not interested in giving constitutional rights to corporations. In fact, they wanted to regulate corporations very tightly because they had had bad experiences with corporations during colonial times. The crown charter corporations like the East India Company and the Hudson Bay Company had been the rulers of America. So when the constitution was written, corporations were left out of the Constitution. Responsibility for corporate chartering was given to the states. State governance was closer to the people and would enable them to keep an eye on corporations.
To the Edwards' Young Thugs
Mon Oct 01, 2007 at 04:31:59 AM PDT
who have recently swamped dkos with their bully, mean spirited, immature tactics. Edwards' would surely disown every last one of you if he was aware of how you are supposedly supporting him. Your despicable smear campaigns and gang-up rude bigoted attacks on anyone who disagrees with you is despicable.
Kind of reminds me of the Young Republicans idiotic behavior.
The sheeple mentality degrades your message if there is one.
Edwards is a good candidate and deserves a following. But the thugs here-and you know who you are (and so do we)- have encouraged me to cross him off my list.

Defense stocks hit new highs
Wall Street and industry executives have sought to assure investors there will be little disturbance in military spending over the next several years -- regardless of who succeeds President Bush in the White House or the withdrawal of U.S. troops in Iraq as proposed by Gen. David Petraeus.
Among the defense companies likely to benefit from additional wartime spending are: Force Protection Industries Inc., General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE:GD) , Ceradyne Inc. (NASDAQ:CRDN) and Oshkosh Truck Corp. (NYSE:OSK)
