Lesson Learned from Paris Hilton

Fri Jun 08, 2007 at 09:50:11 PM PDT

There's a lesson to be learned from what is going on with Paris Hilton: Americans love it when the rich and powerful get served.

Americans may worship their masters and their stars, but when the stars fall, Americans gather round to kick dirt into their graves. They love it. I don't know if it is unique to Americans, but it is certainly part of the American character that when the big shots are down, Americans, each and every one, like to get their kicks in.

And you know what I think about that?

No votes needed to TALK about impeachment

Sat Jun 02, 2007 at 02:37:21 PM PDT

There is currently a fallacy being perpetrated by Democratic politicians and their backers. It is this:

The lack of votes for impeachment/removal excuses us politicians from talking about why impeachment is deserved and necessary.

This is a fallacy. No one has to vote to allow Obama to talk about how Bush should be impeached and removed from office for lying America into war. There doesn't need to be a vote so that Clinton can say that Bush should be impeached for high crimes against the United States. Edwards, himself, is a free agent and can say what he wants without Congress voting to give him permission. He can call for impeachment if he wants. Votes aren't needed. It's time for the excuses to stop and for Democratic politicians to start talking about impeachment.

Backwash only 14 percent

Tue May 22, 2007 at 10:23:06 AM PDT

Bush's poll ratings have slipped again at Rasmussen Reports:

After three straight days at the lowest level ever recorded by Rasmussen Reports, President Bush’s Job Approval ratings slipped another point to another new low on Tuesday.

IMPEACH: Off the Net and into the Real World

Sun May 13, 2007 at 03:18:21 PM PDT

Many people here on Daily Kos are demanding impeachment, but these demands are only heard by a relatively small number of people who are self-selected to read this site. Proponents of impeachment need to broaden their audience. Whereas only a select few people read Daily Kos and the other political blogs, almost everyone uses the streets of America. So let's take impeachment to the streets. Let's tell the people what we think and see if they agree with us.

Tony Snow Killed 3,242 Americans

Tue Mar 27, 2007 at 01:55:12 PM PDT

George Bush lied our country into war with Iraq. Hundreds of thousands of REAL Iraqis are dead because of this, and 3,242 REAL Americans are dead because of it.

These are not just numbers. They are real people who are dead because of George Bush's lies. This isn't a novel or a reality show. This really happened.

Did Bush Lie America into War?

Mon Mar 26, 2007 at 04:31:18 PM PDT

In late 2002 and early 2003, I was under the impression that Bush was tricking America into war with Iraq, and since that time, I have become more and more convinced that Bush purposefully deceived America with the intention of getting us into war with Iraq for reasons that had nothing to do with 9/11, terrorism, or freedom.

But I look at those around me, and that seems not to be what others think happened. So is that what you people think happened, or is it just conspiracy-theory stuff?

How to Talk about Impeachment

Sun Feb 11, 2007 at 10:22:40 AM PDT

The only way Bush will get impeached is if Americans demand it. Right now Americans are not demanding it. One way to help that would be if more people were talking about it. So I talk about it whenever I can.

Protest in DC, with Civil Disobedience

Sun Jan 28, 2007 at 02:40:56 PM PDT

After a four-hour departure delay on ATA from Chicago to DC, we finally got there late, at 2:00. I went because I wanted to be one of the millions calling for George W. Bush to be reined in. However, I ended up being one of the tens of thousands calling for it. Here are photos for people who weren't able to make it.

3,000 dead, and all is quiet

Sat Dec 30, 2006 at 10:42:00 PM PDT

I don't see much on the mainstream news about the three thousand milestone that is coming up for U.S. military killed in Iraq. I guess the media doesn't want to spoil everyone's holiday with news like that.

Some Impeachment Propaganda I Made

Wed Dec 20, 2006 at 12:12:38 PM PDT

I admire Karl Rove. I hate him, but I admire him. He has been largely successful at getting some 300 million Americans to gladly swallow truckloads and truckloads of watery horse shit. Now, this is of course not an admirable feat in itself, but to be successful at something that should be this difficult takes a certain superhuman quality, an ability to take an almost omnisciently accurate read on the public and know exactly where their buttons are and how to push them. Again, I think such underhanded manipulation is despicable, but still, Karl Rove is so good at it, you have to give him props.

Impeachment Avoided/War Started = Same Problem

Tue Dec 12, 2006 at 07:48:59 AM PDT

One of the main arguments against hard investigations toward impeaching Bush and Cheney is that Republicans will turn such Democratic efforts into political hay for the 2008 election. That is, some Democrats are afraid that Republicans will call them names and smear the Democratic Party, and so they want to avoid that by not holding Bush and Cheney accountable for lying America into the Iraq war et al. However, it was this fear of right-wing name-calling that got us into the war in Iraq in the first place.

Impeachment Day Photos from Chicago

Sun Dec 10, 2006 at 09:08:34 PM PDT

The turnout was great for International Human Rights/National Impeachment Day on December 10 in Chicago. Our impact was significant and boosted the availability of impeachment as a remedy in many people's consciousness. Here are some photos. Please distribute them widely to perpetuate the protest.

Impeachment Letter from Senator Durbin (D-IL)

Sat Dec 09, 2006 at 09:42:47 AM PDT

Just a few days ago, I got a letter from my representative, Jan Schakowsky, regarding impeachment of President Bush. I posted it here: http://www.ilcpj.org/...

Now Senator Dick Durbin has written me back about impeachment.

Impeachment letter from Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)

Fri Dec 08, 2006 at 04:56:28 AM PDT

I wrote a letter to my congressmember, Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), before the election (or maybe it was after?), but I don't have the letter, because I sent it in one of those Internet forms and didn't save it. Anyway, she wrote me back, and I am pleased to be able to share her letter with you

Impeachment /Withdrawal Bad for Democratic Party

Sat Dec 02, 2006 at 12:06:14 PM PDT

(This diary has been updated to correct previous spelling errors. See footnote.)

One of the big reasons that some Democratic suits have offered for not impeaching President Bush and holding him accountable for LYING AMERICA INTO A WAR is because it would be bad for the Democratic Party. So just like the Republicans put politics first when they tried to impeach President Clinton, the Democrats are now putting politics first when they are refusing to consider impeaching President Bush.

But it's not just impeachment y'all. The Democratic Party puts party over everything, so they will sell out on every single point, and here's an example from the New York Times:

Even the Democrats, with an eye toward 2008, have dropped talk of a race for the exits, in favor of a brisk stroll. But that may be the only solace for Mr. Bush as he returns from a messy encounter with Iraq’s prime minister, Nuri Kamal al-Maliki.

Those who don't sell out country, principles, and all decency for party, come to the other side of the fold.

Bush Preparing for Iran War? Kucinich Wants to Know!

IMPEACH - I finally made the Sun-Times

Sun Oct 08, 2006 at 08:59:36 PM PDT

Back when Kagro X kicked off the impeachment guerrilla marketing campaign in December 2005, I thought it was a hell of an idea and made a sign that said, simply, IMPEACH. I also made stickers and slips of paper and did other things. But I went out with my IMPEACH sign to lots of protests, and only this past Friday, October 6, 2006, did I make the Chicago-Sun Times.

The emperor has no clothes: Say something about it

Fri Sep 08, 2006 at 04:42:37 PM PDT

Bush exploited 9/11 to get us into the war in Iraq, and now that people are angry about the war and are complaining it, Bush is again exploiting 9/11 to get people to shut up and stop complaining. He continues to exploit our pain for his gain. But no longer. We are standing up and putting a decisive end to Bush's lies. We cannot depend on the TV to do it, and conversations in dusty corners of the Internet are not going to do it either. We have to put ourselves right out in front of the public where we cannot be ignored, and we have to make it clear that Bush can no longer exploit 9/11 without a response from us.
