Ok, this is going to be short because I don't have a whole lot of information, and I'm diarying it since I don't see any diaries out where it would be appropriate to add this as a comment. This is about the special election for city council in the 30th council district in Queens, NY taking place tomorrow to replace Republican Dennis Gallagher, who pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct. Michael Chertoff, the Secretary of Homeland Security is above the law. According to a NY Times article this morning, Challenges Arise to Border Fence Project, a 2005 law was passed that allows him to suspend any Federal law that would keep him from building a security fence on the border. And he hasn't wasted any time suspending all sorts of laws so far-- keep reading below for more...

Yes, that's right... allow Rove to testify behind closed doors, with no transcript. Oh, but I bet you're wondering then how we'll get him to tell the truth... that's easy. Follow me below and I'll explain.
No Recess-- we've got work to do!
Tue Jul 31, 2007 at 06:31:33 AM PDT
This is a bit short, but I think it's important, and there's not much time left, and I don't see any other diaries on this...
The smartest thing the Dems in Congress can do right now is skip the recess and continue working. There are so many reasons (continued below):
Don't Feed the Fox!
Fri Aug 25, 2006 at 06:24:28 AM PDT
Everybody knows that Fox "news" is not a news network at all, but a right-wing propaganda machine. Time and time again, Democrats appear on their talk programs only to get yelled at, ridiculed and not get their word out. Now and then, someone scores a small victory (see the recent diaries about Ann Coulter getting pwned) and it's a big deal because the cards are so stacked against us that any victory is significant.
So what would happen, if, collectively, as a party, the entire Democratic party decided NOT TO APPEAR ON FOX. I can hear a bunch of you saying-- "Oh, no-- that would be terrible. There'd be no one to counter their bullshit". I would agree, if it were one or two Democrats boycotting the network, but if it were the ENTIRE PARTY, it would isolate Fox and call attention to their blatant bias, and put the media on notice that we aren't going to put up with this bullshit anymore. Fox's unfair "reporting" would become headline news in itself on all the other networks.
