This Iraq War Vet just voted
Tue Feb 05, 2008 at 01:32:48 PM PDT
I just finished voting in the Democratic primary, my first vote since returning from Iraq and my first in-person vote in a long time. While there may be differences between Obama and Clinton, some real, some perceived, others extremely nuanced, the differences between the two party’s presidential candidates on Iraq could not be starker. If you truly want to end the war in Iraq, today’s choice comes shining through: Vote Democratic!
John McCain hates the military
Fri Jan 18, 2008 at 09:51:44 AM PDT
Day after day, we are bombarded by John McCain's "expert" war analysis and his constant declarations that victory is just around the corner. However, he explicitly and impliedly talks about "failures", "losing", and "missteps." To maintain his media concocted Maverick status, he will occasionally throw a jab toward Bush or Rumsfeld. Ultimately, though, the brunt of his blows falls directly on the shoulders of our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines.
One more appeal for help

I hate to be a one trick pony, but I have to post about Iraq again. In my short life, the least interesting thing about me has been my service in the military. Regardless, I still have brothers and sisters in harm's way in Iraq and Afghanistan. All I want is for them to come home safe. I am sick of waiting for emails or death releases from the press to know they are alive because for every day and week that my friends are spared, other people's worlds are ended.
O'Rourke Contra Hillary Clinton
Wed Sep 05, 2007 at 09:45:04 PM PDT
After viewing tonight's Republican debate, I felt compelled to write this post. We all know who Hillary Clinton is, but who the hell am I? Well, to begin with, I'm an Iraq War Veteran who's had enough. On top of that, how do I loathe Hillary Clinton? Let me count the ways.
One question for Joe Lieberman
Fri Jul 13, 2007 at 10:48:36 PM PDT
Nearly everyday, Joe Lieberman is bombarded from the left with vitriol and from the right with praise. However, for all of his press coverage, no one has had the guts to ask him the question that gets to the heart of it all: Is there a war against Muslims that you do not support?
One Soldier's thoughts on the funding compromise
Thu May 24, 2007 at 05:29:56 AM PDT
As I wrote last November, the expectation in Iraq was that the new Democratic majorities in Congress would end the war, one way or the other. At the time, I expressed great concern for the quisling attitude toward war funding coming from the mouths of the new leadership. Seven months later, my worst fears have been realized with word of the Great Compromise.
View of the new Democratic Majority from Iraq

To all the Democrats out there mouthing the "gradual drawdown" or the "we broke it, we fix" line: STOP THAT SHIT NOW!!! Despite the ideological differences within the ranks, the Democratic victory this month translated one way: the war is coming to end. This mindset will be nearly impossible to get out of and can prove dangerous to troops on the ground.
