Strong on defense - Democratic President

Sat Nov 03, 2007 at 06:50:34 AM PDT

(I am so tired of the lies that say Democrats are weak on defense.) Actions speak louder than words!

So Bush flew off and hid on 911, while Bill Clinton headed straight home to America, from Australia.

Bush took months to decide what to do about Usama bin Laden and Afghanistan. (First he bombards them with MRE's.)

Bill Clinton took less than 24 hours in the situation below.

This situation presents a clear and present danger to the stability of the Persian Gulf and the safety of people everywhere. The international community gave Saddam one last chance to resume cooperation with the weapons inspectors. Saddam has failed to seize the chance.

Who is stealing the 50 state Strategy?

Tue Sep 18, 2007 at 08:28:50 AM PDT

I hope someone here will look into this to see if it would help in the 2008 elections. Or maybe it is some kind of attempt to copy dkos for the right. I don't know, but maybe someone of you can judge the possible value of the program.

Citizen Journalism

During 2007, we will be adapting some of our publishing tools for public use and encouraging citizen journalists worldwide to create their own online news services. A cornerstone of this initiative is our "50 State Strategy".....

Bush cut programs to prevent bridge disaster

Fri Aug 03, 2007 at 03:23:35 PM PDT

After NOLA I remembered a discussion in early 2001 about Bush cutting funding for the prevention of disasters. With the bridge collapse I finally found the article from March 6, 2001.

The result, if President Bush's budget is any guide, may be a shift in emphasis away from disaster prevention toward disaster relief. And even that assistance may be provided under tougher conditions.

Among Bush's proposed savings in other areas: $100 million by canceling new grants to fire departments; $83 million by cutting the federal share of hazard mitigation grants by one-third; and $25 million by ending Project Impact, a small disaster-preparedness campaign.

Mitigation grants are used to shore up structures already weakened by floods, quakes or more, so they will withstand a future attack better. They also are tapped to buy out damaged property.

Fed Judges schooled in allowing Monopolies

Sun Jul 15, 2007 at 01:34:08 PM PDT

Sherman, Clayton, and FTC Acts

The antitrust laws were originally designed precisely to prevent, along with conspiracies and monopolies against the consuming public, such unfair practices against smaller competitors. Below-cost pricing to kill competitors, for example, was one of the "monopolizing" acts that were banned by the original Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890. Congress expanded that list of condemned practices in the Clayton Act of 1914 to include price discrimination, exclusive dealing, and mergers, along with a general ban on "unfair" acts, practices, and methods of competition in the Federal Trade Commission Act of that same year.

'Political Counterattack'

This enforcement program became increasingly effective... As a result, the U.S. economy was becoming less concentrated in its major industrial sectors and thus more competitive. The country's larger firms, however, were not happy with these developments and launched a carefully planned--and handsomely financed--political counter- attack, the core of which centered around a capture of the federal judiciary.

How W.H. withheld info from Congress

Fri Jul 13, 2007 at 07:18:29 PM PDT

Most of the meeting was dedicated to the different strategies that could be used to limit the flow of information to Congress. Claims of executive privilege..... were mentioned most often.

It is clear from interviews, documents, and notes that the strategy of the Ro.... gang was to try to claim executive privilege or deliberate the process over as many documents as possible.

The Congress was not to have the entire story on the administration's (subject) policy. It was hoped that making these claims would work to deny Congress the most embarrassing and damaging information on (subject).

Mr. Robert Gates is also listed as a recipient of several  (subject) Department memos dealing with the submission of information to Congress.

Who sold your job to China?

Mon Jul 09, 2007 at 10:44:26 AM PDT

Who has been brokering the "sell off" of the American manufacturing industry  to China since 1996 (costing millions of Americans thier jobs)?

Insisted in 2000 that it  would soon get easier?

Then in 2001, bragged that the all restrictions were being removed and "HE" had the contacts and ability to broker the deals?

Failure in Iraq caused by WH Political Nepotism

Mon Mar 26, 2007 at 03:07:06 PM PDT

Nothing wrong about this is there, if you are running a campaign for a political office.

To recruit the people he wanted, O'Beirne sought résumés from the offices of Republican congressmen, conservative think tanks and GOP activists. He discarded applications from those his staff deemed ideologically suspect, even if the applicants possessed Arabic language skills or postwar rebuilding experience.

But this was no campaign,

Atwa in Iraq: A Tale of Two Villages Hotlist
by Jim McDermott
Mon Nov 21, 2005 at 06:40:06 AM PST
Once upon a time in Iraq, a man married a young woman from a village nearby, while his sister married the woman's brother. Each couple made their home in the village of the husband.

It was the best of times in the first village, where the bride bore her husband three sons in quick succession.

It was the worst of times a few miles away, where her childless sister-in-law became an object of scorn.  Unable to bear the increasing weight of social stigma in her new home, the barren bride threw herself in the well and drowned.

The people of her home village were outraged by the treatment she received, and set out bent on vengeance.

The start of the Insurgency and how it could have been prevented

Sun Nov 26, 2006 at 08:51:58 AM PDT

On November 19, 2005, in Haditha, during Kilo Company's third tour of duty in Iraq, a land mine planted by insurgents exploded beneath a Humvee, killing a 20-year-old Marine. What happened next—the slaughter of 24 Iraqi men, women, and children—was not entirely an aberration. These actions were rooted in the very conduct of the war. As the men of Kilo Company face investigation, the author exposes the political, military, and human realities that now make such carnage routine.

Americans Safer under Clinton than we are under Bush, here is proof

Sun Nov 05, 2006 at 05:29:44 AM PDT

When told that we are safer under Republicans than Democrats, just reply with the documented government proof that we were more secure during Clinton's administration than Bush's.

From 1994 U.S. Counterintelligence Effectiveness Directive

to a 23 inter agency organization set up to handle everything from floods to terrorist attacks Federal Response Plan.

Or read about them in action THE COUNTER-TERRORIST

All of which Bush abolished on March 13, 2001

Americans have better lives and are safer under Democrats

Fri Nov 03, 2006 at 03:57:51 PM PDT

The Republicans say we are safer with Bush than we were with Clinton - That is a lie, as you can see with Clinton PDD-39 which was actively protecting us from terrorist.

Bush abolished it right after taking office leaving us wide open to the 911 attack.

Almost every Accomplishment achieved during the Clinton administration has been abolished or reversed by the Bush administration.

The website posted has some dead links, but others work and are worth reading.
