21 Luminaries

Since 9/11 the administration has created an atmosphere of intimidated patriotism and fear mongering. As the anguish and sorrow consumed our nation after the attack that killed almost 3,000. citizens, the Bush administration launched a plot to spread Jeffersonian democracy in the Arab world. The neo-conservatives, after superficial success in Afghanistan, lurched into their pre-disposed plan to invade Iraq, a country populated with zero Al-Qaeda at the time of the invasion, which occurred on March 20, 2003.
The schemes and lies plotted in secret during meetings of the administrations Iraq cabal, the mis-guided pre-war strategy, as well as the post-invasion planning debacle, are now well established as one of the most dishonest and incompetent events in the history of our country and will be rightfully recorded as such by historians.

My Letter to Ned Lamont
Mon Oct 16, 2006 at 01:40:58 PM PDT
Dear Mr. Lamont,
I would first like to thank you. You, your campaign and your message have restored my idealism and faith in the political system. They have energized my interest in politics and have helped me realize that nothing is impossible when you follow your heart.
I have followed your campaign from Naples Pizza, through the primary up to today, your first Senatorial debate as the Democratic candidate from Connecticut. Like many, I worked my heart out for you in August, blog for you, write letters to the editor for you and organize events for you. I am a contributor of money, materials and time and no matter the outcome on November 7th, I don't regret one bit of it.
That having been said, I was at today's debate and quite frankly I'm discouraged. I tried to air my grievances to you personally but with all the excitement I was not able to communicate my thoughts clearly. That is the second purpose of this letter.
The Bottom Line
Sat Oct 14, 2006 at 03:28:49 PM PDT
With less than one month until November 7th and the 2006 midterm elections it is clear that every single vote matters. It's also clear that, more often than not, it is in a politician's nature to be indecisive and safe in their public statements on the campaign trail. Politicians entrust their public image to a staff of trained professionals who manage them from the way they dress to the way the phrase their public policy and you can't blame them; they want to win. Enter stage left, the blogosphere, a new way to organize, energize and inform the base. Thanks to blogs such as MLN and others, we are able to craft a uniform message that politicians will not or cannot come out and say but we know they truly believe.
Guess Who
Fri Oct 13, 2006 at 07:32:17 AM PDT
Okay, its time to play a guessing game. The organization releasing the below ads in direct mail claim to support a candidate from CT for Senate. Guess which one.
Is Joe Lieberman a Democrat masquerading as a Republican pretending to be a Moderate behind the mask of an Independent?
Which mask will he be wearing the day after the election?
Is Joe Lieberman a Democrat?
Is Joe Lieberman a Moderate?
Is Joe Lieberman a Republican?
Is Joe Lieberman an Independent?
Whose Side Will He Be On After the Election?
I consider myself an ethical businessman.
I believe in playing by the rules.
Politics ought to be the same: if, for example, you lose your party's primary, you should take it like a man and move on.
Some of my friends want me to vote for Republican Alan Schlensinger.
Others think I should vote for Independent Joe Lieberman.
Everybody wants to know whose side I'm on.
I don't agree with everything the Republicans do.
I don't agree with everything the Democrats do.
But I know who I trust - and it's not Joe Lieberman.
The answer is on the flip side.
Ned Lamont: A Message for Change
Thu Oct 12, 2006 at 01:28:22 PM PDT
I have been following the Lamont campaign since it was only a dream. I saw the campaign grow as the liberal bloggers found an outlet for the anger they harbored towards Joe Lieberman (often nicknamed Joe LIEberman on local Connecticut blogs). I watched him build a campaign machine from scratch like he did the cable company that now pays the campaign's bills. I watched him rally the Democratic base, sway the Democratic centrists, register thousands of new Democrats and, with the highest turnout in recent Connecticut primary history, win the Democratic candidacy for the US Senate.
Ned Lamont represents the modern Democratic party: moderate yet steadfast in it's beliefs and loyal to the core American values held by our found fathers. I will not, in this opinion, parrot Ned Lamont's platform on the issues. Nor will I list the many ways he differs from Joe Lieberman. If you're looking for that, visit his campaign website or attend a speaking engagement. Instead, I would like to address what this race means to the future of this country.
