Tue May 13, 2008 at 02:31:28 PM PDT

Fresh off my graduation yesterday and already back in school I've got good news for all Oregonian Obamaites and others.

Today I Graduate - Thank You All

Mon May 12, 2008 at 01:11:27 PM PDT

Today I'm graduating from NYU with my second BA on my way to law school back in California next year.

A modest proposal for getting Hillary out of the race and focusing attention on the Democratic nominee - Barack Obama.

A Case of Rotten Texas Justice

Sun Apr 27, 2008 at 05:04:55 PM PDT

It's now been over three weeks since the state of Texas, acting on a call allegedly from a 16-year old "abused child bride" inside the Fundamentalist Latter-day Saints Compound in Eldorado Texas

International Law and the War in Iraq

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 01:46:42 PM PDT

Two weeks ago I agreed to take the side of supporters of the war in Iraq and argue that, under international law, the war was legal. We had a spirited debate and in the end I felt I presented the most convincing view even though that view was contrary to my own personal and legal opinion.

Now I have a chance to set the record straight. What follows is my argument, for my final paper in my international law class at NYU, that the war was illegal.

There's Now Even More Wrong with that Texas Polygamy Raid

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 03:57:54 PM PDT

One of the biggest child-custody cases in US history is rapidly unraveling as legal professionals increasingly raise concerns about the manner in which the original raid was carried out, the treatment of the children removed from their families and the conditions imposed on the mothers of the children.

What's Wrong with Pricilla Presley's Face?

Sun Apr 13, 2008 at 12:13:28 PM PDT

OK - I don't watch that execrable show "Dancing with the Stars" but I do read the LA Times. This Sunday's edition featured a piece written by Times TV critic Mary McNamara in which she brought up the question that Dare Not Speak Its Name - What the hell is wrong with so many female actresses in Hollywood today?

What's Wrong with the Texas Polygamy Raid?

Fri Apr 11, 2008 at 04:58:49 PM PDT

Leave aside the issue of the religious beliefs of the Fundamentalist Latter-Day Saints whose compound was raided this week in Texas. Despite how much you or I disagree with their beliefs those beliefs are protected under the US Constitution as long as they don't violate the law.

Jackie Speier Elected New Democratic Rep. CA-12!! - UPDATED

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 09:00:23 PM PDT

Thought I'd be the first to break it. Jackie Spiers needed 50% +1 in today's special election to claim Tom Lantos's old seat in CA-12 without a runoff election. This district is heavily Democratic and encompasses part of San Francisco and San Mateo counties.

NY Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver - Worthless Political Hack

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 12:16:38 PM PDT

The New York Times today said Democrat Sheldon Silver was "unworthy of his office" because he failed to push through the NY State Assembly congestion-based pricing plans which were supported by the mayor as well as the federal government.

The New York Times is correct - Silver is THE symbol of everything wrong with NY State Government and in particular the legislative process in Albany. We in the Netroots have a long and storied history of challenging entrenched politicians when they're become out-of-touch and continually vote against their constituents concerns. This year Sheldon Silver is facing a viable challenger in Paul Newell. He deserves our contributions and support in his challenge to one of the most entrenched symbols of Albany's inability to get anything done - Sheldon Silver.

Defending John Yoo

Fri Apr 04, 2008 at 12:51:43 PM PDT

I hate to be forced into the position of defending the academic rights of someone as universally abhorred and who I personally find extremely repellent, but recent diaries arguing for public interference in academia have got me riled, so here goes.

Welcome Back Wolverine!

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 01:57:12 PM PDT

For the first time in over 90 years a wolverine has been spotted in California - confounding researchers who must now ascretain if the wolverine is from a group of animals which somehow have avoided detection since 1922 or if it migrated over 900 miles from the nearest group of wolverines.

Rwanda and Hillary: The Truth from Her White House Schedule.

Wed Mar 19, 2008 at 06:27:14 PM PDT

Hillary Clinton has claimed during the genocide in Rwanda she was urging President Clinton to intervene militarily to stop the genocide. Previously her schedules were unavailable for me to investigate exactly where she was when the genocide was unfolding - but the release of her schedules today have helped to paint a very clear picture of Hillary's time during the genocide in Rwanda

Cool New Music - Non-candidate Diary and a Good Stress Reliever

Mon Mar 03, 2008 at 11:30:40 AM PDT

I'm stressed. We're all stressed. Whether it be because the nomination is so tight and we've got two extraordinarly close elections tomorrow or because it's still so cold or because, in my case, it's midterm week and I have to start my LSAT prep class today. Regardless - stress is there, it's present and I find one good way to relieve it is by listening to music.

So I've incorporated some of my new (and not-so-new) favorite videos in this diary and I'm hoping you'll do the same in any comments you leave. This is a great way of us getting to know one another through the medium of sound - we're all so one dimensional here and anything we can do to round one another out is a positive.

So I'll link to YouTube videos and add a bit of commentary as well. I hope you enjoy them!

Desperate Clinton Campaign Threatening to Challenge Texas Primary/Caucus Rules

Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 09:19:49 AM PDT

Once again we're reminded that the Clinton campaign will stop at nothing to ensure her victory in the "must win" state of Texas.
