Afghan police frees hostage in Kabul raid

The Afghan interior ministry announced this morning that german NGO worker, taken hostage by what they described as a "criminal gang", was freed by afghan police last night.
According to the news report in the german newspaper Der Spiegel (german only), four of the kidnappers were arrested in the raid, among them what appears to be the leader of the group.
The hostage, one Christina Meier, who worked for the charity ORA international, had been abducted last saturday in broad dailight from a Kabul restaurant where she had lunch with her husband. According to reports, police forces noticed the abduction and fired at the car but missing, killing a taxi driver instead.
