Love in the Times of Post-Deployment

Whenever I chat with my friends about what soldiers go through, I inevitably end up confessing that "I live with the most normal crazy person I know:" one Army officer, two deployments, one broken heart.  
"What? Are you implying that your boyfriend has PTSD!?", somebody questioned my once.
"Hmm...yeah, they kind of all do after they come back from that hell", I replied.
" No, your boyfriend’s fine..."  
"Yeah...he hasn’t made the news yet...

Borat and Me

Every time my boyfriend and I are watching some Borat, we get a big, big laugh out of it.  For us, an American Jewish and an Eastern European, the whole thing takes different proportions and the sarcasm quite another flavor.

But after a while, I have to confess, I get sort of annoyed – memories of people asking a little foreigner Borat-like questions start overwhelming me.

Hey Mr. Bush, when are you gonna read the Angry Rakkasan's book?

 I too have recently read "The War I Always Wanted," our Angry Rakkasan's book about his experiences as an infantry officer leading his soldiers through the maze of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. Not only was it an amazing reading but something else just dawned on me: it should be a required textbook for all those Bushes, Cheneys, Rumsfelds...and so on...
