Take THE PLEDGE : I will vote for Hilobamedwardsondoddinich

Tue Dec 11, 2007 at 04:28:52 PM PDT

As I understand it, Daily Kos is a site devoted to getting Democrats (progressive Democrats?) elected.  Every day there are numerous "my candidate is great, your candidate blows" diaries and comment exchanges. And generally, speaking this debate is good.  It makes us stronger...it's a forum for hashing out ideas, etc.   But really, looking at the Republican slate, isn't it fair to say that most of us will (should?) vote for the Democratic nominee even if he/she is not our first choice?

Wouldn't it be good if, during these heated "my candidate is better than your candidate" debates we had some sort of acknowledgment that despite our differences we're on the same team?

A modest proposal below.

Dem Leadership Lives Up to Their Rep (w/POLL)

Sat Dec 08, 2007 at 02:19:19 PM PDT

So the Dems want to cave on their "strong" stand against funding more money for Iraq without a firm withdrawal plan.  Sure, we knew that one was coming.  But only Pelosi and Reid could do it in such a way as to make it twice as bad as "just another cave-in" in a long list of cave-ins.  What do I mean?  Read below the fold and I'll tell you.

What is the immigration problem? Please explain.

Thu Dec 06, 2007 at 06:57:50 PM PDT

I keep hearing about the "immigration problem" but I just don't understand what it is.  Could someone explain the actual problem to me?

I am officially giving up

Fri Nov 09, 2007 at 06:13:06 PM PDT

I give up.

In 2006, we gave the power to the Democrats to derail this train wreck of an administration.   Here we are 12 months later and what have they done?  Worse than nothing...they have enabled this Administration in every way and further besmirched the good name of this country.

Quite frankly if this is the best of the Democratic leadership, we are sunk.

The Hall of Fame can live without Barry Bonds (w/poll)

Fri Nov 02, 2007 at 06:31:35 AM PDT

It has just been reported on ESPN.com that Barry Bonds will boycott the Hall of Fame if they display his 756 HR ball with an asterisk.

Barry Bonds would boycott Cooperstown if the Hall of Fame displays his record-breaking home run ball with an asterisk

That includes skipping his potential induction ceremony.

"I won't go. I won't be part of it," Bonds said in an interview with MSNBC that aired Thursday night. "You can call me, but I won't be there."

You know what Barry? Fine with me.  The Hall of Fame is an honor.  Apparently you are too arrogant to understand that one is invited to join the Hall of Fame.

Personally, you've done so much to taint the image of baseball, I couldn't care less if you are in the Hall of Fame.

First it is the steroids.  Then it's the lying about the steroids.  Finally it's about treating the fans and the game with contempt.

Barry, we're already over you.  HanK Aaron, Willy Mays, your Dad, and yes even in some places Buddy Biancalana will be more beloved and respected than you.

Thanks for reading my rant.

Hillary, Are you kidding???????

Sun Oct 21, 2007 at 03:26:31 PM PDT

Hillary Clinton has defended her vote on the Iran Resolution as "stepped up diplomacy".  Is she nuts?  Calling out another country as "terrorists" is not diplomacy it is saber-rattling.  And she further goes on to say that she is "opposed to letting President Bush take any military action against that country without full Congressional approval."

Hillary, the correct statement is:

"President Bush CANNOT take any military action against Iran without full Congressional approval."

How about some leadership here?  Dems frame the issue as "we don't want Bush to..." as if there is some lack of clarity about his Constitutional authorities.  Bush continually uses this lack of certitude to argue that he has the ability and then dares the Dems to stop him.  Take the fight to him - "Mr President you DO NOT HAVE this authority!" is leadership - the American people will be 76% behind the Dems if they do this.

RETIRED LIBRARIAN now delivering US foreign policy ultimatums

Wed Oct 10, 2007 at 12:02:17 PM PDT

USA Today is reporting that Laura Bush, yes Laura Bush has threatened Burma with additional sanctions if it does not start moving towards Democracy.

Apparently the Administration is now relying on Laura Bush to be the spokesperson and communicator of its foreign policy.  This sparks several questions which I ask below the fold.

What was George Bush thinking this morning?

Sat Oct 06, 2007 at 11:49:55 AM PDT

I woke up this morning thinking what I do every morning:

"Please God, let the national nightmare that is the Bush Administration come to an end soon, please"

Anyhow, after realizing that I am going to have to endure another day with George Bush as my President, I started to ponder what he must have thought when he woke up this morning.  Join me after the fold, for my list of things George Bush may have been thinking this morning when he woke up.

Ten things I'd suggest Bush does after the Presidency

Sun Sep 02, 2007 at 07:50:40 PM PDT

Apparently, President Bush is working with a biographer to "tell his story".  According to a story in the NYT, President Numbnuts has told the biographer that after the Presidency he intends to

First, Mr. Bush said, "I’ll give some speeches, just to replenish the ol’ coffers." With assets that have been estimated as high as nearly $21 million, Mr. Bush added, "I don’t know what my dad gets — it’s more than 50-75" thousand dollars a speech, and "Clinton’s making a lot of money."

Then he said, "We’ll have a nice place in Dallas," where he will be running what he called "a fantastic Freedom Institute" promoting democracy around the world. But he added, "I can just envision getting in the car, getting bored, going down to the ranch."

As much as I would like to see him just get in the car and ride down to the Ranch never to be heard from again, I'd like to humbly suggest ten other things King George might do after he is dethroned.  Check out my list below:

Why do they still hate us?

Fri Aug 17, 2007 at 01:40:01 PM PDT

Bush and Cheney told America that the terrorists attacked us on 9/11 because "they hate us for our way of life, our freedom".  Then the Administration systematically destroyed that way of life.  So I ask how come the terrorists still want to kill us?

Below, I list many of the things we've given up.  It's a not so subtle message, that the Bush Administration has lost the war on Terror already, and without even another successful attack by the terrorists.

Where we are going: January 2009 and beyond

Sat Jun 02, 2007 at 12:57:34 PM PDT

Will any scandal be enough to slow down the administration and turn enough Republicans against Bush to counteract his policies or begin the impeachment /removal process?

Will we leave Iraq?

I think the next 36 months are pretty predictable.  Read more for my Crystal Ball.
