CNN poll up right now...

Sun Jun 01, 2008 at 04:44:41 PM PDT

There is a poll on CNN.com right now about the outcome of the rules and bylaws committee determinations on Michigan and Florida yesterday.

Question: Is the Democratic Party committee's decision on Florida and Michigan sufficient to settle the issue?

Right now the no's are ahead, 52% to 48% for the yes vote.  It seems to me that we could do much better.

I checked and couldn't find any other diary on this.

I'll try for the link... http://www.cnn.com/  The poll is down a little, on the right.

I called my congressman today..

Thu May 08, 2008 at 08:20:03 AM PDT

This morning I read the local paper and saw that my congressman basically said he would continue is support of Hillary and to let the process continue through the end.  Then on Kos  I read about the USA today story and it didn’t look like Hillary was going to back off on the Obama bashing.  That really ticked me off.

I'm starting to detest candidate diaries..

Sun Nov 18, 2007 at 08:27:16 AM PDT

Really, I’m sick of it.  I’m a long time Kos reader, an occasional commenter, and rarely write a diary. I come to DK right after I turn on the computer, check in several times a day, and once again before I turn off the computer at night.  I went to Chicago last summer and enjoyed every minute.  But lately the whole recommended list is just full of more and more diaries slamming one or another candidate. And I’m sick of it.

New York Pootie Lovers...

Sun Aug 26, 2007 at 11:30:52 AM PDT

There is a very special female kitten needing a home in New York at the Lincoln Square Veterinary Hospital. See pictures and story at the following blog...

I read CR all the time, he gives me hope that there are really decent conservatives out there, somewhere.  He rescued this kitten, and now she is ready for a home.  Someone in his comments said that he should post the story here, and I thought it was a good idea.

I hope I got the link in ok, if not it is currningrealist.blogspot.com.

Air America feed, fixed

Sat Jun 10, 2006 at 03:58:58 PM PDT

I have seen several comments with other people that have had problems getting the feed.  I am no techy but I finally got it up.  The problem was apparently with the REalPlayer - when I loaded it to my desktop it never connected to the RealPlayer web site to register.  And if it wouldn't connect for that, it won't connect for AA.  After fooling around, working my way through the Real Player suggestions - I knew it was a setting problem but couldn't figure it out.  However, I have a newer lap top, so I loaded the REal Player to my lap top - came right up!!
My laptop is newer, but XP also.

I know that everyone may not have a spare computer around.  However, if you haven't gone through the REal Player help on connection settings, try that. There were several things you could do.

Why Plame matters..

Wed Oct 12, 2005 at 10:40:06 AM PDT

I cannot tell you the outrage I have felt over the whole Plame case.  I've been a Plame addict, ever since I heard about it.  My outrage is made even worse when I hear the pundits opine that everyone does it, it was just politics, she wasn't really really undercover...

I've recently "discovered" the Next Hurrah.  (Just what I need, another blog to add to my daily reading.)  From there I found my way to firedoglake and the fine writing of ReddHedd.   And ReddHedd wrote something that expressed my feelings and outrage, and the reasons for them, better than I ever could.

Letter to the Editor

Fri Aug 27, 2004 at 12:51:27 PM PDT

Last week there was a post here that everyone should send letters to the editor and try to get them published, the thought being that more people read those than read actual editorials.  So, for the first time ever I sent something to the local newspaper.  For me it was scary, but I did it.  Well, to my surprise when I opened the paper this morning my letter was there. Here is my letter:

"I want to express my appreciation for your thoughtful, comprehensive, and balanced article on the Swift Boat Veterans political ads in today's paper.  This kind of coverage is the reason I prefer to get my news from the KC Star rather than the cable news networks.

Meanwhile back in Iraq, remember that war, our boys continue to die and be maimed.  Today when I looked for the war coverage I found a list of 19 military deaths on page 25 and a short piece on Iraq on page 26.  Compare that to the inches of coverage given to the SBV story.

Why is the press obsessing over something that happened 35 years ago while our boys are coming home in body bags?  Why are they allowing the worst kind of dirty politics to successfully draw attention away from Iraq, the economy, and any thoughtful evaluation of the performance of our current president?  Those are the real issues that face each and every one of us as we make our decision on whom to vote for this November."

Thank you Kos community for giving me the courage to become more than just a political junkie, and to actually try to make a small difference.

How should we target our money?

Tue May 11, 2004 at 06:15:54 PM PDT

Sorry for putting this in a diary but the comments are so long .....

I have very little money to contribute to this project but want to participate.  I vaguely remember a discussion about whether a $10 contribution required more effort from the recipient campaign (in paperwork) than it was worth.

So my questions is, if one donates on-line by credit card is a $10 donation worth it?  Or, would it be better to pick ONE and send them $50?  (Which is all I have for this project, having already given each month to Kerry.)

Feedback?  Ideas?

Bus and the Guard, Washington Post

Thu Feb 12, 2004 at 03:18:15 PM PDT

I've never done a diary before, so please forgive me if I'm not very good.

I just read Froomkin in the Washington Post on GWB and the issues with his guard service.  He asked for feedback.  This issue is finally getting attention, and we need to encourage any reporter willing to keep it in the forefront.  I took the time to write.  So here is his request.  Let's let him hear what the Kos readers think.

"So is that going to be the central issue? Where do you think this is going? Send me your thoughts at froomkin@washingtonpost.com. Please include your name and hometown, and an acknowledgement that I can print your responses. "
