Is Wes Clark done as VP?

Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 07:51:46 PM PDT

Is Wes Clark out of the running for VP? Did his "gaffe" about McSame's military service doom his chances?

That's certainly the way it would appear. When the punditry speaks of VPs, I generally hear only a few names. We get to obligatory mentions of Hillary as VP...but, of course, that is mostly for ratings and interesting speculation.

We hear Biden and Reed and Rendell and Bayh and even Hagel. But we never hear any more mentions of the best possible choice: Wes Clark.

Obama's Task: Deliver Us A Victory!

Fri Jul 04, 2008 at 04:13:31 PM PDT

Forget FISA! Obama’s task in right now is to deliver us a victory!

I applaud all of you for writing letters to the Obama campaign, voicing your objections to FISA. I think it’s great that some of you have taken to calling the campaign headquarters or posting your points of view on the blogosphere. That is what democracy is all about. Constructive criticism is helpful for Obama. It will make him and better candidate and a better president

Obama-Kerry: Dream Ticket?

Sat Apr 05, 2008 at 08:38:20 PM PDT

Just a thought. We keep spending time talking about Obama's VP. Markos' recent top picks include:

Richardson
Dodd
Sebelius

All reasonable picks, along with Webb, Clark & Zinni. But, what if Obama's best pick was (drumroll):

Gore/Obama might be the ticket

Tue Mar 25, 2008 at 04:42:50 PM PDT

Even though I am a passionate Obama supporter, I always thought that a Gore/Obama ticket was the best option for the democrats. Gore would bring the experience and national security gravitas that Obama seems to lack, while Obama would bring the charisma and excitement that Gore seems to lack. Like many of you, I thought that ticket would bring 16 years of Democrats controlling the White House!

That dream went up in smoke when Gore showed zero interest in running for president. I thought there was no possible way that it would ever happen. Now it looks like that will be the ticket after all!

Obama's Administration: Let's Pick the Team!

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 12:25:46 PM PDT

Obama's Cabinet? What are your thoughts? VP? Sec. of State? Attorney General? What are your thoughts?

Okay, okay, I know it's a little too early for this. Obama hasn't even won the nomination yet. Plus, he'll have a tough battle with Granpa John in the general election....but....damnit! It's just so exciting to think about recapturing the White House, and having our guys (and gals) running things!

BREAKING: Puerto Rico's Governor Endorses Obama!

Wed Feb 13, 2008 at 09:24:21 AM PDT

Sen. Clinton no longer has a strong hold on the latino vote. Obama got blown out in the fight for the latino vote in California and Nevada. But since then, he's improved.

He WON the latino vote in Conn. He also did very well in Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. And, last night, he won the latino vote in VA.

Now, key latino endorsements are coming his way. The other day is was a Texas Rep. Now this:

BREAKING: California SEIU & MoveOn.org Endorses Obama!

Just heard it on MSNBC. This union had been supporting John Edwards. They have now switched to Obama.

McCain vs. Clinton or McCain vs. Obama?

Tue Jan 29, 2008 at 08:23:24 PM PDT

Which match up do you prefer? McCain looks like he's got this GOP nomination just about wrapped up. He's got the juice right now. So we might as well begin the conversation about who on the Democratic side can actually beat him.

The Change Vote: Edwards & Obama Finally Unite!

Wed Jan 16, 2008 at 11:28:33 AM PDT

In Michigan yesterday, we finally got a chance to see how competitive the Democratic primaries would be if we only had ONE change chandidate in the race.

Senator Clinton only won Michigan by 15 percentage points. That margin is only about 6 points greater than the margin of Romney’s victory over McCain.

Romney was facing stiff competition from McCain, the man who won Michigan in 2000.

Hillary Clinton’s competition: "Senator Uncommitted", also known as, the Obama/Edwards unified vote! That is not a very good showing for Clinton, considering that she wasn't truly running against anyone. That's like winning a football game when the other team doesn't show up, and not by a very good score.

In fairness to Senator Clinton, no one campaigned in Michigan, so we can’t take these numbers to heart. But, it is interesting to see how competitive "Senator Uncommitted" was, versus Clinton, and how competitive Edwards or Obama would be if they didn’t split the "change" vote.

Hillary Clinton: Crocodile Tears?

Mon Jan 07, 2008 at 02:22:26 PM PDT

Look, I don’t want to question her motives. Perhaps, Hillary’s latest show of emotions was real. Perhaps the stresses of the campaign trail have gotten to her. Perhaps she didn’t script this one.

However, I just want to place her latest tear-fest into context.

Dear John Edwards: Don't Be The Spoiler

Fri Jan 04, 2008 at 11:47:35 AM PDT

Dear John Edwards,

Please DO NOT drop out of the race.....at least not yet! You have been fighting for the presidency for years, going back to 2003. And you’ve done well. This is no time for a hasty retreat. Take a day or two to let the dust settle and see where things stand in New Hampshire.

But, Mr. Edwards, if it becomes apparent that you don’t have a chance to win, then you should try to wind things down. I would hate to see you lingering on, refusing to accept defeat. I would hate to see you be accused of being a sore loser. And, most of all, I’d hate to see you play spoiler to the other "change" candidate, Barack Obama.

Biden likely to support Obama

Wed Jan 02, 2008 at 05:03:54 PM PDT

Sorry if this has already been diaried. I saw this little tidbit on HuffPo and got excited. This is very encouraging news for the Obama campaign.

After picking up the Kucinich support yesterday, it looks more and more like Obama will also pick up Biden's support tomorrow.

Why Edwards is Wrong and Obama Right: "Hollering" doesn't work

Tue Jan 01, 2008 at 06:17:15 PM PDT

There are two "change" candidates in this race, Barack Obama and John Edwards. Both candidates began this race with a very similar tone.  Now, the two couldn’t be more different.

Obama’s message is to bring a new majority, through a message of unity, to bring about change.

Edward’s message is to be confrontational in order to bring change.

Which is better? I don’t know.

But the real question, at this point in the race, is.......which message can get a Democrat elected in November 2008?

Updated: Edwards has ZERO black support

Sun Dec 30, 2007 at 02:53:36 PM PDT

Hillary Clinton’s recent racial tactics against Obama has made her ineligible for my vote, under any circumstances, including the General Election. If this nomination comes down to Edwards vs. Clinton, I’m rooting for Edwards all the way....

.....but that would be my worst nightmare! Because Edwards vs. Clinton will be a walk in the park for Hillary. And that is largely due to the fact that Edwards just doesn’t appeal to most African-Americans.

Barack Obama: A Leader With Coattails!

Sat Dec 29, 2007 at 01:22:30 PM PDT

It’s time to choose a president, folks. That’s what Hillary Clinton would say. And she’s right. It’s time to pick a president. But, it’s also time to choose the leader of our party.

Our leader is going to have to energize our party. Our leader is going to have to NOT energize the other party. Our leader will define who we are as a party. And, most of all, our leader is going to have to have coattails, able to go out and campaign for other democrats running for congress.

Which one of our candidates would make the best leader of our party?
