My Own Iowa Scream with Poll
Tue Jan 01, 2008 at 12:10:40 PM PDT
Okay, okay, I love the kos-race just as much as anyone. I've been reading blogs all day and discussing politics all day with my thankfully politics-obsessed BF. We've have tons of fun. We have fun here, especially reading about why Ron Paul is a kooklamatz and when people artfully skewer the traditional media and other beltway hacks.
But as we get closer to the Iowa caucuses, you guys seem (-sweeping generalization alert-) just go completely apesh*t and take it to an alternate universe of paranoia.
What's the fun in that?
Ai yi yi yi yi! A Non-candidate diary with poll
Tue Dec 18, 2007 at 07:08:08 PM PDT
My computer homepage when I log on, is Dkos. I was at the first Yearly Kos. Check out my user ID, please. I rubbed shoulders with Markos in Vegas. I came here in 03, a definite Deaniac.
But, seriously, nearly every rec'ed diary a candiate diary? Is this I have fallen through the looking glass and ended up on an internet version of Hardball.
Please, stop it.
Report From the Campaign Trail - NY-13
Sat Aug 12, 2006 at 12:40:03 PM PDT
I worked on a congressional campaign today - why do that on this beautiful August day? I am pumped because of Lamont's win of course, feeling more positive and optimistic than I have in a long time.
Stephen Harrison is a former Community board leader, an activist, and a lawyer. He is running against Vito Fosella, a rotten republican in the NY-13 - a New York City district that shouldn't have Republican representative since in is majority Democratic registration
Headed to the airport now!!!
Thu Jun 08, 2006 at 02:41:25 AM PDT
Hello! i am headed out to lovely newark nj to catch my flight to Las Vegas. Viva las vegas. I am have been telling everyone about my trip, what it means for the DC dems and what it means for us.
There is a shift in the power base - Lamont, Tester, Winograd.....we are moving foward and we are going to take the democratic party with us.
Wallflower at Yearlykos with Poll
Fri May 19, 2006 at 04:02:15 AM PDT
I am going to Yearly Kos - finally got the time off and the $ to book my flight and hotel this week. (I will have to wait a while to register when I get some more $$!)
But I am kind of standoffish in a crowd. I am concerned about going to Las Vegas and sitting in the seminars quietly and never speaking up or connecting with anyone.
And I think that I will not have as much fun in Las Vegas (outside the convention) if I am by myself.
POLL: What if no filbuster materializes?
Tue Jan 24, 2006 at 04:29:32 AM PDT
No chunkalicious lovely has soloed yet, that much is true. I, for one, have been calling Senators a lot, including Reid, Chaffee, Snowe and Collins.
I also wrote letters to every Dem member of the judiciary committee.
The theme I used in every contact is: Filibuster and my basic message is "Alito doesn't deserve to be on the supreme court of a country that loves liberty."
I am sure many of you have done the same and more.
Grassroots - Met A Local Candidate Today!
Sat Jan 21, 2006 at 12:26:03 PM PDT
While I was lugging my shopping cart through the streets of Bay Ridge Brooklyn today I came across a few people tabling for a petition against healthcare cuts. The petiton was directed to my cheesy Congressional Rep. Vito "Cheney's Pal" Fosella.
I know, how can a borough like Brooklyn have such skeez as it's rep? Because my district. NY-13, is mostly Staten Island with a little sliver of southern Brooklyn. Staten Island is filled SUV-driving, spiky-gel-haired homeowners.
In any event, I dutifully signed the petition and got to talking with a tabler and found that we both worked on Barbaro's campaign against Fosella in '04. Currently, no one is running against Fosella - Barbaro is in his 70s and enjoying retirement.
If I didn't have to work, for Pete's sake, I would. Can't the dems come up with someone? For right now, it is not to be.
ACTION UPDATE :30 Letters-8 Cards -13 Phone Calls
Thu Jan 12, 2006 at 06:27:59 AM PDT
I have started a personal campaign to write all dem members of the house regarding Bush, Article 4, illegal wiretaps and the threat to the constitution it poses. I usually enclose a constition on a square of toilet paper - the metaphor is that W is making the constitution worthless and disposable.
I was only 30 letters sent, with 10 more in the oven, when the Alito hearings came to the fore and took precendence over this action.
I wrote 8 cards yesterday to the democratics senators on the judiciary committe. I have also (so far) called Lindsey Graham's office (barfarino), left a message for Harry Reid and spoke to a clerk in Biden's office.
My First 15 Letters Wil Be Mailed Tonight
Sat Jan 07, 2006 at 05:29:49 PM PDT
I bought 30 new stamps today - and I wrote 15 of the 200+ handwritten letters I will be sending to each democratic member of the house.
I am writing about the outrageous criminal behavior committed by the president in violation of the fourth amendment. Below in a partial excerpt of my previous diary on the topic. I would love to have company in this project. Useless action? Maybe, but at least I can pretend a representative democracy exists for a litle while.
4th Amdt ACTION- Boston TP Party
Thu Jan 05, 2006 at 06:15:38 AM PDT
caveat - this isn't Boston related, but I thought it sounded cool
I have long admired the skillful organizers and "party people" here at DK. I've written my share of emails and have called my senators Schumer and Clinton more that once (and I;ve called others too, Durbin, Leahy, etc) I've called Democratic reps in congress too. Working for the Dean campaign I have also written a lot of letters. I don't know their effect, but with the illegal action of the President I feel I must do something.
This time I am going to be sending something to every single Democratic member of the House - damn the expense. That's right, ALL of them.
First, I am sending a handwritten notice containing two citations:
All I want for Christmas.....
Wed Dec 07, 2005 at 07:55:40 AM PDT
Though the next few weeks will be awash in commercialism, there will also be a few small ideas of things in the air: family, giving, charity and for some, peace.
All I want for Christmas...?
For an atheist I have somewhat of a long list this year. My list has been pretty long for a while.
Peace is a pretty big thing, seldom embraced but much cherished, both private and communal peace. Not only are we killing people in an illegal and immoral war in Iraq every day, every hour, but we are torturing people all over the world. Our government is the agent of suffering and pain in the world. Our money, energy and most of the governments' collective will is focused to this end - the delivery of suffering. War is unsubtle coercion - do what we want or we will kill or torture you and your family.
The American government is not an innocent body - how could it be, founded on two genocides? But the ideas of America were innocent. We believed we are good, we do good, we embrace our individuality and want everyone to do the same, everybody gets a chance to grab the gold ring.
Sick of the Party
Wed Sep 21, 2005 at 05:34:38 PM PDT
When I read here that Leahy was going to vote yes on Roberts, I thought, WTF?
This crony administration is the suckiest, crappiest, worst excuses for leadership in the whole fucking world.
So the democratic strategery is to try and out-suckify?
The democratic idea on Iraq is not to attempt to lead?
I want to take political action
Thu Sep 01, 2005 at 07:00:29 PM PDT
I am sickened, outraged, despairing like much of you. I am far from the Gulf Coast in NYC and am dumbfounded by the blase cruelty of this vile excuse for goverment.
And although I can put most of the absurdly disjointed response at Bush's feet - what of the Democrats? Bill Clinton in some motherfucking oval office photo-op with the Bushes?
Give me a goddamn break.
Can Clinton Come?
Wed Aug 31, 2005 at 04:38:29 AM PDT
God knows we need a leader now. Bill Clinton is our tsunami front man (along with Bush the Elder - and he's a swell guy too! )
snark
We need a leader, someone who can comfort the frightened, organize what is needed, and lead the gulf coast during this trying time.
Counterpoint Frame: Shiavo - Sheehan
Thu Aug 18, 2005 at 05:31:56 AM PDT
i know this has been mentioned here before - possibly diaried and mentioned in open threads but for people who write LTEs or the congresspeople or who email the media or for Pete's sake are interviewed, they will probably get a lot of traction with:
"Bush flew to DC in the middle of the night to sign legislation on Terri Shiavo.
He can't go four miles down the road and talk to Cindy?"
The Ultra-Sellouts
Sat Jul 30, 2005 at 07:21:10 PM PDT
Sexy sexy David Sirota has identified the 11 Senators and Congresspeeps who consistently sell out the working class and the middle class, all to kiss the corporate ass on the current front page of his blog.
http://www.davidsirota.com
I know some think this is dreadful disloyalty to the party (Bimini cat-fight anyone?) but I am pleased that someone has actually gone through the votes and congressional rules to identify those most rotten.
New!: Wackadoodle Dean Poll
Sat Jun 11, 2005 at 09:16:18 AM PDT
Hokay - I hardly write diaries anymore but this whole whoosiwhatisis is really getting to me.
We know Kossians lean Dean. That is obvious, if nothing else is. Dean has a lot of defenders around here, and since dailyKos is known for it's deanizens, anti-Dean trolls like to stop and drop a few of their little dung balls here and there.
I also have to acknowlege the democrats who are, shall I say, a little squeamish when it comes to truths the Governor is wont to bring forth, now and again.
He's the ONLY thing keeping me in the Party, dumbass!
Wed Jun 08, 2005 at 02:50:57 AM PDT
HEY YOU!
You know who you are: corporate lobbyist ass-kissers, inside the Beltway buttheads, stammering, cringing, crying assholes.
I mean, the Democratic Party wimps.
Howard Dean is the only thing keeping me on this listing, sagging, ship.
After Kerry wimped out on the election, and after Democrats wavered and wondered about Rice, Abu Gonzales, Bolton, Terry Shiavo (JESUS, they couldn't even pull it together with 80% of America one side of the issue!)....
