Progressive's Koolaid should be Mississippi River Water
Sat Jan 12, 2008 at 03:28:35 PM PDT
I started to compile the data maps of the US (shown below) to reinforce my theory that education leads to progressive and Democratic Voting. But after staring at these maps (on education, educational spending, religion, population and more) I found something more interesting in the anamolies than I did in the patterns. Isn't that always the way we learn useful things anyways? Well I have come to a new theory and I think we can study it in time for implementation before the General Election in November. For more Democratic voters, we need to avoid drinking whatever they drink in Wyoming and we should bottle the lower Mississippi River water and spike Republican Koolaid with it. Bear with me below the jump.

Harry Reid called for a cloture vote today and introduced the Senate Intelligence Committee version of the FISA bill that includes immunity for the telecoms.
Senator Dodd has promised a filibuster. Ted Kennedy and Russ Feingold have promised to help in this effort so far.
CALL YOUR SENATORS now to ask them to support Dodd, and vote for the Senate Judiciary version that does not include immunity.
This is not an official live blog.....but please no pictures.

Lies and maybe why they don't matter
Sun Dec 09, 2007 at 09:56:58 AM PDT
It seems to me that lying and falsity are layered into our lives today at such a level that it is becoming less important, less of a vice, and maybe even perfectly acceptable. There has been a lot of talk about how the Bush administration continues to lie to the American public, yet we can see no one in the administration held accountable for these lies. And he is lying about some of the most serious matters in the world today. Lying (and its siblings, cheating, misleading, denial, obfuscation) that has come from our Executive is at the core of our disapproval and anger. Not getting accountability or at a minimum some acknowledgement of responsibility forced on them through the oversight of the Congress is at the core of our significant disappointment with that "co-equal" branch of government. Below I will list several layers of lies that I think may show why we acquiesce.
Senator Saxby Chambliss and Barbara Ann
Tue Oct 02, 2007 at 04:52:35 PM PDT
The title above is a little bit misleading but I will try to get you there step by step. I sent a letter to the Senator to ask him to stop President Bush from bombing Iran. Below the fold is the text of his response and then the text of my follow up to him. Why should this interest you, the Dkos reader? Well I believe we should be talking to Republicans. This may or may not be analogous the United States talking to Iran. But I also believe that the US should be talking with Iran.
Fundamentally Harmful Hook Up
Fri Sep 07, 2007 at 11:33:08 AM PDT
So if an American organization is participating in activities in the middle-east that undermine secular institutions and promote fundamentalist Islam, should we consider them anti-American? Well to my mind, I think this could be how one could view the activities of the Discovery Institute. When it is in the interest of creationist Christians to declaim Islam as evil, they do not hesitate to do it (Pat Robertson here ). But when they see where they see they may use the power of 1.4 billion Muslims to promote their own creationist views ... well they hook up.
Healing your Blue Dog

As Meteor Blades pointed out last weekend 30 of the house members that voted yes on the "Protect America Act" were Blue Dogs. This vote was one of the most damaging legislative acts in recent memory. It was total cowardice.
