Conservatives Rule! (w/poll!)

Wed Jun 22, 2005 at 01:03:30 PM PDT

Just kidding. But seriously, I'm looking for suggestions on conservatives - particularly bloggers, but any media is fine - who are, you know, not total dicks.

Just for my own ability to talk to Bush supporters, I'd like to have a few sites to keep tabs on to see what reasonably smart people on the other side are saying. Doesn't have to be people like Sullivan who crossed over and supported Kerry. Just want to steer clear of homophobes and wild-eyed freepers and whatnot.

Any help is appreciated, it's too dispiriting to wander that shadowland without a map and a compass. Update [2005-6-22 16:39:55 by watt]: Per Cedwyn's comment directing me to the dkos diary "urgency" requirement, I would like to reframe this diary as an urgent interrogation of the liberal echo chamber. Thanks you for your forbearance.

Because it's apparently never too early to flame each other's presidential preferences.

(for those who care, I voted for Kathleen Hanna and she punched me in the face)

Kafka's war fiction

Mon May 02, 2005 at 01:35:05 PM PDT

I was just reading Kafka'a journals and I came upon an entry about house to house searches during wartime that stopped me cold. It's short, so I'll reproduce it in its entirety below.

But first, a question: what are you reading - ancient or new, fiction or non - that seems to speak to you thoughts/emotions about the war, or war in general?

I've seen - and taken part in - several great threads about what people are reading, but I'm interested particularly in war writing. (Anyone who was good pull quotes can feel free to post those, too.) Have at it.
