What are you listening to?

Mon May 02, 2005 at 02:11:20 PM PDT

I got up this mornin', decided after 2 years of averaging 55+ hours a week, I needed a mental health day. So I called in, told them my pants were on fire, and wouldn't be able to come in to work. Put Rhapsody on and let the jukebox do its thing.

The so called Liberal Media

Fri Oct 01, 2004 at 07:32:33 PM PDT

I wrote this for another for a non-political forum I visit, so I thought I'd put it here as well to get some feedback. One of my fascinations lately has been the media and it's role here in the US. One of the things the right has masterfully done is convince the people in charge and the general public that there is a secret liberal bias to the news that we see. I'm in the middle of reading up on the subject and will put my thoughts down sometime in the near future, but as I was looking around Atrios tonight, I came across a link for www.Mediamatters.org, where it had a few interesting observations about the pre and post debate spin.

If...and it's a big if, a pregressive TV station ever gets off the ground, who would you want to see? What established names are out there that would get good ratings?

Michael Moore and the looney left

Thu Jun 24, 2004 at 06:27:18 PM PDT

This is my first diary post so bear with me. It seems to me that alot of people refer to Michael Moore as part of the fringe or looney left. Many of the left seem in an apparent gesture of appeasement to have taken up this chant while at the same time privately agreeing with what he has to say. To those I suggest that they go back and see some of his earlier work. Rent Roger and Me or The Big One and watch it. This is a man who has dedicated his life to fighting for the little guy, the average American. He fights corporations who while making record profits, lay off their workers. He goes after institutions that put billions of dollars in their pockets to make weapons. He fights against those who seek to take advantage of AMERICANS, stripping rights in the name of security and safety.

This man is us with a voice. He is our voice. We have a presence on the national stage. Ask yourselves if FOX, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the media take liberties in reporting the news. They are SUPPOSED to be non biased. Michael Moore is not. He is a filmmaker, and an author. He is presenting a viewpoint, but more than that, he does it for us. These vicious attacks from the right just show how scared they are of him, and of the catastrophic impact he can have with average American, which is you and me.

Keep fighting the good fight.
