Justice Scalia says that McCain can't be the Prez!

Mon Jun 16, 2008 at 05:51:42 PM PDT

Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Antonin Scalia has decided the upcoming election for us - much like he and his cronies did in 2000.  But this time, it's not going his way and his own written words are biting him on his ass.

Scalia wrote an irrational and scathing dissent from the majority opinion which argues in a circle.  The thing is, his opinion really puts the screws to John McCain.  His argument against allowing the prisoners held at the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp (CAMP??) to have the right to the writ of Habeas Corpus also makes the case against McCain's American birth credentials and, therefor, his ability to legally take the Oath of Office.

I'll explain it all below the fold - very interesting reading!

OBAMA Quits Trinity United Church of Christ

In a speech delivered in Aberdeen, South Dakota today, Barack Obama announced his decision to end his 20-year relationship with Trinity United Church of Christ.

An Open Letter to Obama Supporters

Fri May 16, 2008 at 10:50:58 AM PDT

Before you go any further, know this: I am an Obama supporter.  I worked the man's campaign in Pennsylvania, making phone calls and knocking on doors and recruiting volunteers.  I will be working for him during the run-up to Election Day in November.

With that out of the way...read what follows, think about it, then decide for yourself what we should be dong next.

The time for Hillary bashing is over.
The time for autopsies of her campaign is over.
The time to gloat about victory never arrived and never will.
The time to taunt her supporters never happened.

Now, follow me over the fold for the really thoughtful and important stuff.

GOP : Hillary "Our Best Surrogate"

Thu May 01, 2008 at 08:42:47 AM PDT

Yes, the Creepublicans consider Hillary to be one of their best tools in the fight to keep the Democratic nomination away from Barack Obama and to tear him down before he has a chance to pummel John McCain - the Creepublican party's "Knight of The Living Dead".

They'd prefer to face Hillary in November because SO many right wingers hate the Clintons SO strongly that she'd galvanize the right behind McCain, boost his fundraising, and rally voters to their side.

And who was it that called Mrs. Clinton "Our best surrogate"?  The answer is below the fold.

WHITE MEN: Nora Ephron hates you.

Sun Apr 27, 2008 at 12:19:02 PM PDT

That title isn't opinion, it's pure fact - straight from the woman's keyboard.

You think I'm kidding, don't you?  You think that I'm telling tales on the woman who wrote the screenplays for "When Harry met Sally" and "Sleepless in Seattle", don't you?

If so, you'd be thinking wrong.  The proof is in the pudding - or in this case, her HuffPo blog - which I quote and provide a link for below the fold.

What Obama WON in PA Today

Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 09:55:01 PM PDT

Hillary won by 10%!!  What a tremendous victory for her!

BULLSHIT !

Barack Obama won alot in PA today.  This isn't spin, it's pure, straight-arrow fact below the fold.

What I Saw at the PA Polls Today

Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 06:51:10 PM PDT

This report comes to you from a small town in SW PA, about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh.  And yes, I am most certainly bitter but I don't cling to any religion or any guns.  Still, I feel that Sen. Obama hit the nail on the head - with the wrong words.

I voted today.  I took my two voting-age sons with me and showed them a few things.  It was truly a moment of pride for me to show up at a polling place with my sons.

What we saw there is below the fold.

My Reply to Audio Guy

Fri Apr 04, 2008 at 08:46:26 AM PDT

When they shot JFK, my parents wept openly - holding each other and wondering what would become of this country.

I was too young to understand.

When they shot MLK, cities across America burned.  From my front porch, I could see the glow in the sky as large parts of Pittsburgh went up in flames and I knew that my father, a City of Pgh. firefighter, was out there somewhere - risking his life.

When they shot Bobby, I wept openly.  I'd come of age earlier than most of my friends, and I understood that our nation had lost a man who represented hope, unity, and justice.  I'm tearing up a little even now, remembering.  God how this nation needed Bobby Kennedy!

When they shot the kids at Kent State, I was angered.  No - I was outraged.  That event built a fire in me unlike anything I'd ever felt.  A part of it still burns in me today - partly for them, partly for the justice they never received, partly to keep the fight alive.

BILLIONS for Bear Stearns, not a penny for US Children.

Mon Mar 17, 2008 at 09:28:08 AM PDT

Yes, folks - it has happened again.  And right under your noses.

While Bush and his Republican lackeys have blocked the passage of any and all congressional bills expanding the SCHIP program to cover even one additional American child - saying that expanding the program would be an expensive, budget-busting move - the Federal Reserve has moved to bail out one of the worst enablers of predatory lending in the country.

Yep!  Bear Stearns has received a $30 Billion bailout of its shitty mortgage portfolio from the fed.  This means that any and all loss in the portfolio will not be borne by Bear Stearns or JP Morgan (the buyer of Bear Stearns), but by the US Taxpayer - YOU!

Bill's former Aides & Nobel winner say Hillary is LYING

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 05:53:44 AM PDT

Yes, Virginia, Hillary really would do anything to win the nomination - even LIE about her level of "experience" in the area of International Affairs.

Who says so?  None other than Leon Panetta, Bill Clinton's White House chief of staff, Sandy Berger, Bill Clinton's national security adviser, David Trimble, co-winner of the 1998 Nobel Peace Prize for his role in brokering peace in Northern Ireland, and Ivo Daalder, a former NSC official under President Clinton who was responsible for the Balkans.  Oh, and for the record, comedian/actor Sinbad weighed in as well.

Kitchen Sink my ass.  This is pure, hard-core Desperation.

You can read what all of these people had to say about Mrs. Clinton's major claim to enormous Foreign Affairs experience in the link provided below the fold.

Waterboarding WILL Continue - as per Bush

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 07:11:57 PM PDT

The Associated Press is reporting that President Bush WILL veto a bill passed by both houses of Congress which would have outlawed waterboarding by the CIA.

From the AP report:
Bush has said the bill would harm the government's ability to prevent future attacks.  "The bill would take away one of the most valuable tools on the war on terror, the CIA program to detain and question key terrorist leaders and operatives," deputy White House press secretary Tony Fratto said Friday.  The bill would restrict the CIA to using only the 19 interrogation techniques listed in the Army field manual.

More on this below the fold.

As I See It - #1

Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 07:39:54 PM PDT

Experience or Judgment?

The two remaining candidates for the Democratic nomination for President are extolling their strengths in the areas they believe to be important – mostly because they feel that their opponent is lacking in this area.  Hillary Clinton touts her experience as making her the more-qualified candidate.  Barack Obama claims that his better judgment makes him the best choice.

I’m going to offer you, dear reader, some illustrations of why one of these qualities is far better than the other.   If by the time you reach the end of this article you disagree with me, I invite you to respond in an intelligent manner.  If you feel that I’ve scored a bull’s eye with this, please let me know.
