Steve King - just mentioning his name conjures up the image of a smart mouth super neo-con congressman from Western Iowa.
 

Senator Tom Harkin (very D-Iowa) is holding an online contest to channel some money to Iowa state house and state senate campaigns. My wife and I are working our butts off to help elect a very good progressive first time candidate, Sharon Savage, to the Iowa Senate.
Sharon has a long pedigree as a progressive. Now, at the age of 60 she has taken on the challenge of winning a senate seat that has been held by republicans for half a century.
 First prize is $5,000 and a mailing. This would be a huge amount of money to our campaign.
 Also, my good friend has a candidate on the house side who is in a very similar situation to Sharon. His candidate's name is Gretchen Lawyer.

Help Obama seal the deal!  Write a short letter and submit it to your state newspaper.  Letters-to-the-editor are the most read section of any newspaper.  We know that because a small group of us in IA-02 helped now Rep. Dave Loebsack defeat Jim Leach in 2006.  We bombarded our local newspapers: published at least 1-2 letters everyday for a 10-month period.  Loebsack's victory was a national shockwave, people never saw it coming. But we did!

 I am fortunate to live in an area that gets AirAmerica radio. Unfortunately as a cost to do this I must occassionally listen to Al Franken throw a little unwarranted praise at Jim Leach.

 Great News! I can't believe it! A highly respected poll puts Democratic challenger Dave Loebsack ahead of long term incumbent (and the original 'catch and release') Republican Jim Leach!

 I am appealing for help. I am to the point of being almost desoerate. For the last 30 years I have lived in the district represented in congress by Republican Jim Leach.

  Is it possible that one of the most progressive districts in the country will finally get a Progressive Democrat to be its representative in Congress? Well, finally, the answer is looking like a big "YES, YES, YES"
