Yeah, another comment on Obama’s "gaffe". It may be getting a little diaried to death, but I haven't seen my take. But if your getting tired of the topic, I won't be offended if you skip this.

IMO, politicians rate right down there with dead banana slugs between my bare toes and finding a yellow jacket nest the hard way. I’d rather step on the cat's latest tithe to protecting the home and hearth. I know better than to expect them to do anything supporting my interests. Inspirational leaders like JFK or RK are myths of the past. So too, is the art of great speaking like FDR or MLK Jr.
Voters get bombarded with sound bites and spin. Mindless pundits rant and politicians make obviously hollow used car salesmen promises. A grand speaker gets short shrift from then MSM (oops- traditional media- crimeny! Like I spell well to begin with.)  and is soon "shut up".

Strangely, it start on 9/11/01. Or maybe not so strange. It was life altering for so many.
It began with my mother pounding on my front door (not a surprise, I sleep soundly and she'd been coming to help get my house in order to sell). But when I opened the door her she exclaimed "Turn on the TV!"
My mother (an atheist) regards the TV as the devil's tool. I did not see She-ra or He-man or Gilligan's Island growing up. I was a third rate conversationalist on the playground.
I knew the world had ended if Mom wanted the TV on.
