We all MUST understand what is happening here
Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 05:40:25 PM PDT
It isn't that Obama is a political badass. Of course he is. But he is only this powerful because we have given money, time, love and mojo to not just his campaign, but to the Democratic Party for the last long, cold seven and a half years. We are sick and tired of lies, war, torture, cronyism, cowardice, corruption, environmental degradation, and the bullshit fucking money-hungry, cynical priviledged wrongdoers. Obama has arisen at this point in history, not because he is uniquely and singularly talented, which he is, but because he has been empowered by his millions of supporters- our money, hopes and dreams. When he pulled Lieberman aside and said whatever it is he may have said- he spoke with our voice.
Primary Action in Colorado (for all concerned) w/poll
Sun Jun 01, 2008 at 09:00:00 AM PDT
This will be brief. Let's all exert a bit of pressure on uncommitted superdelegate Governor Bill Ritter in Colorado to come out before Tuesday.
How to do this over the fold.
A fair and balanced look at the math, w/poll

Many have commented on the relative impossibility of Hillary to amass the total number of delegates needed to secure the nomination. It has also been noted that she will probably end the primary season behind in other electoral measures of success, such as popular vote and number of states won. I would suggest that these simple measures fail to adequately take into account all of the factors that will be important in the eventual general election. I would propose that not only does Hillary have an argument to say she that she CAN win in November, she can also, convincingly, I think, make the argument that she has already won the primary. I've put together a formula based on the College Football Bowl Championship Series, the indisputably brilliant way in which bowl games are assigned and championships annointed. Depending on the feedback I get here, I am considering sending this system on to the DNC, in hopes it can help resolve the current stalemate. I initially designed this infallible system a month or so ago, but I've updated and re-designed some key elements.
The REAL "Judas"
Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 04:52:59 PM PDT
Is there any more irritating fuckwad than Joe Lieberman? In the spirit of bringing democrats together, I would like to share this nugget. I found this link on firedoglake, and followed it to an interview with Lieberman on fox. I noticed it hasn't been picked up on here and thought that Kossacks were missing out on an opportunity to share some righteous anger with one another, and turn our attention from our primary infighting towards a REAL "Judas". The content of this interview is certainly no news flash, but it just reminded me how much I despise this jerk.
Please, John - Pick Condi
Fri Mar 28, 2008 at 03:47:12 PM PDT
So apparently Condi has discreetly hinted at wanting to be on McCain's ticket this fall.
My reaction to this: Too good to be true! Please Senator, choose Condoleeza Rice as your running mate. This is truly the experience ticket. Obama's "experience is no substitute for judgment" line will become exponentially more powerful.
Stop freaking out w/ poll

I don't post too many diaries, as a graduate student I tend to not have the time to spend to do justice to the DKos readership. This, however, started out as a comment that got a bit out of control. I decided to post it because I'm concerned with the lack of a spine in the Democratic party electorate. Now is not the time to react fearfully to BS "electability" arguments. When we operate from a place of fear, our action is less wise than when we operate from a place of confidence. This election is ours to lose. We have not, in my lifetime, been closer to realizing the possibilities that progressives hold dear. We are playing to win, not to avoid losing.
The BCS solution (snark)
Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 04:23:47 PM PDT
This is turning out to be a pretty tricky primary for the Democrats. We've got two popular candidates, with neither seeming poised to deliver a unequivocal knockout blow before the convention. We're uncertain about if FLA and MI will count, the significance of the superdelegates, and how we'll decide if it goes untill August. Well, maybe we could take a few tips from the Bowl Championship Series, and bring a little science to this messy, democratic process. Follow my irrefutable mathematical logic below the fold.
Day of Celebration w/poll
Wed Jan 30, 2008 at 11:01:26 AM PDT
Hey Kossacks-
It is a pretty eventful day here so far, massively overshadowed by the loss of Edwards. Amidst all of the battling, mourning and infighting, I urge all of us Dems to rejoice in a simple fact- Rudy is sunk. Yes, Rudy is sunk and we didn't have to do a damn thing about it. We still have other Repugs to worry about, but IMHO Rudy was by far the most overtly evil of the bunch. I feel the need to glory in this a little bit- the fall of the one-time front runner, mustering only 15% in what will be his best showing of the campaign. The question-and the subject of the poll, is this: Why was he not supported by his party in this primary season?
Why do you love your candidate?

In the midst of all the controversy of the last few weeks, I have been compelled to formulate a statement of why I am in support of the candidate I favor, Barack Obama, rather than why I oppose the others. I invite anyone to contribute, of course, as this is an open thread. Criticism and disagreement are invited. Hopefully, even with conflict, this thread can avoid the vitriol and name calling that has been so prominent, but I'm not holding my breath.
