I can't believe someone sent me this Obama email.

Fri Jul 25, 2008 at 08:10:43 AM PDT

I received this email from someone I do not know but who I think is a member of a yahoo message board I belong to. It is not a political message board - in fact, the message board relates to a health issue. In any event, this woman apparently believes she can send email out to me about political matters. And boy, did she send me an egregiously disgusting email about Obama today.

Pregnant? Need Help?

Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 05:22:33 PM PDT

You may have seen the religious right-wing billboards in your lovely community posing the question: "Pregnant? Need Help?" I see at least two every day in my liberal town of Austin. It is a deeply personal sign for me - not only because it offends my belief that right-wingers need to stay out of women's lives (and their bodies), but also because it painfully reminds me that there are women out there who have something they don't want but I do - desperately.

You see, I have very definite answers to the questions posed by the sign: no, I am not pregnant, but yes, I need help.

Lincoln, Slavery, and Obama's Vote on FISA

Fri Jun 20, 2008 at 10:47:26 PM PDT

I know a lot of you are stunned, shocked, and hurt right now over Obama's support of the new FISA bill. Some of you have even stated on this site that you will no longer contribute to Obama's campaign, that you will no longer actively volunteer for him, and even - most troubling for Democrats - will not vote for him in the fall. He has, in many of your eyes, let you down and voted to limit the protections of the Constitution. He is not the progressive that you believed him to be.

Let me say that I hear you and I know how hard today's vote was for you. It was for me as well. If you will allow me, however, I would like to go back to the 1860 election for President to provide some context on why Obama chose to do what he did. I am not a historian, nor am I a FISA expert, but I think the little knowledge I do have may shed some light on the bigger stakes we have to keep in mind.

What Is At Stake at the Texas Democratic Convention

Thu Jun 05, 2008 at 05:04:54 PM PDT

Fellow Kossacks,

I am an Obama supporter and have the distinct honor at being an alternate delegate for Obama at the Texas Democratic Convention being held Friday and Saturday (June 6-7) in the great city of Austin (where I live). This Convention is important. Although Texans have already cast their votes in the "primacaucus," there is much still at stake. Of course, we need to elect our national delegates. But there is so much more to do - we need to unite our state party and work on continuing to turn Texas blue.

That is why I want to personally implore Hillary delegates (including alternates) to make sure to attend and participate in the Convention this weekend. This is not an Obama convention. It is a state convention about building party unity and about turning Texas blue. I know there may be some unhappy - even angry - supporters of Hillary who feel disenchanted, and I appreciate everything you are feeling. I am a former Hillary supporter who became an Obama supporter in February. It cannot be easy to see the candidate that you believe in so passionately lose. But, now that our party's nominee has been chosen and Hillary is gracefully conceding tomorrow, let us unite and become part of history. Let's turn Texas blue together.

Democratic Love Fest

Tue Jun 03, 2008 at 10:17:59 PM PDT

I have waited for this night for so long. Almost eight years ago, a man who purports to be from my state (Texas), stood only 5 miles away from my house where my boyfriend (now husband) and I were watching the craziness of the 2000 election. That man is now our president and thankfully is only months away from ending the worst presidential administration of all time. At that time, as Bush's supporters were so excited that Florida was called for Bush (and were jumping up and down with glee and screaming - minutes from where I was), my boyfriend and I were extremely depressed that Al Gore was probably going to lose to someone we considered ill-equipped for the presidency.

Little did we know that it was just the beginning of an eight-year depression that lasted as long as the worst presidency of all time.

CNN Quick Vote on Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Just Say No

Sun Apr 27, 2008 at 05:43:40 PM PDT

First, thanks to Kossack sir for letting me know about CNN's latest "Quick Vote" on the issue of Hillary's demand for a Lincoln-Douglas style debate with Obama. I thought it warranted a diary entry. More debates? That is the last thing we need.
