Real Talk: Race and America

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 07:02:25 PM PDT

Over the course of this historic presidential competition the issue of race has been thrust to the forefront and several occasions. Race has never really been dealt with and always seem to be a highly sensitive and contentious subject matter.

As an African-American, black, negro what ever label one cares to accept I say we should have an honest discussion

And share what it means to all of us.

Please indulge me and stroll over the hump to an honest social discourse on race.

Purge our Party

Sat Feb 23, 2008 at 05:18:50 PM PDT

The time has finally come. We are on the brink of purging our hallowed Democratic party.

The journey has been long and hard fought.

Follow me through the recent history of our party and why we are now near the point of purification.

Atomic Potomac Tuesday

Mon Feb 11, 2008 at 08:09:12 PM PDT

As all of you know tommorow is Potomac Tuesday. Some polls indicate that Sen Obama will do well in all three contests.

In fact rasmussen reports:

Maryland: Obama 57% Clinton 31%
Virginia: Obama 55% Clinton 37%

The aformentioned polls do not mean that we can be complacent. Sen Obama has not won any thing yet. Somenone wrote a diary about we as supporters acting like Obama was 30 points down--I can't find it but it was great.

We have to remain hungry.

Today was different

Sat Feb 02, 2008 at 05:38:25 PM PDT

I have just had one of the best experiences of my life. I was at the Obama for America HQ located in Chicago. I volunteer there on a regular basis and it is always a good experience.

But today..

An open letter to my fellow Obama Supporters

Mon Jan 28, 2008 at 06:34:25 PM PDT

I am an Obama supporter.

I do not like the perception that we as Obama supporters seem to exude on DKOS. I am fairly new and I have read many comments from other Kossacks that would suggest that we are insensitive to the supporters of other candidates.

That is not what being an Obama supporter is about.

If you are an Obama supporter and you are engaging in negative support and destructive discourse:  please stop!

You are hurting our candidate.

Will you as a Obama supporter take a pledge to be more positive and reasonable when it comes to other candidates?

On Ideology and altruism

Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 06:43:35 PM PDT

This is my first diary and I did not want to write a candidate hit diary or a love fest. So I decided to write something that could perhaps inspire intellectual thought and meaningful discourse.

So here we go...

Ideology has a rich and troubled past. The word first emerged during the French Revolution as idéologie, introduced by  A.-L.-C. Destutt de Tracy, which he coined his science of ideas.

The science of ideas was a science with a mission; it aimed at serving men, even saving them, by ridding their minds of prejudice and preparing them for the sovereignty of reason (Cranston)

The initial question I will attempt to answer is how the original definition and the good will behind ideology has become corrupted and perverted over time. Secondly, what are the the characteristics of a modern ideologue. And how can the ideologue reconcile its set of ideas (be they narrow or broad) and its collective behavior to perfecting the greater good with natural antagonists.
