Wolfson: Edwards coverup cost HRC the nom

Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 06:11:55 AM PDT

Howard Wolfson thinks HRC was cheated.

"I believe we would have won Iowa, and Clinton today would therefore have been the nominee," former Clinton Communications Director Howard Wolfson told ABC News.com.

ABC points out that this isn't helping unity:

Sen. Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic presidential nominee if John Edwards had been caught in his lie about an extramarital affair and forced out of the race last year, insists a top Clinton campaign aide, making a charge that could exacerbate previously existing tensions between the camps of Clinton and Sen. Barack
Obama.

Do people change their minds? (poll)

Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 08:01:18 PM PDT

I have family members who voted for Hillary "because of Iraq."  Not because they supported Iraq, but because they had no idea that Hillary voted for it.   (This was after attending a Hillary stump speech. I'm not kidding.  They managed to watch an entire stump speech without learning that she had voted for the war.)

When I informed them that she had in fact done voted for the war they so detested, and showed them Barack's vehement opposition to it, they didn't change their minds.  They argued a while: but, well, so did everyone else. I said "no, in fact, half the democratic senators didn't," They looked embarrassed; but save for my dad, who doesn't care much, they didn't change their minds.

I had known full well that Hillary voted for the war, and I honestly laughed the first time I heard "35 years of experience," yet initially supported her anyway because I had fond memories of Bill and I didn't know two things about Obama, and bought into the claim that he was an inexperienced newbie with rockstar status thanks solely to Oprah.   I believed he had gotten lucky opposing the war.  Quite frankly, I thought Hillary was inevitable.

VP Question: Give Straight, Honest Answer

Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 08:44:52 PM PDT

The VP question is frustrating me, and I don't think Barack is giving good enough answers.

Here's what I'd say:
" Making hints about a VP right now, before the nomination is decided, can wind up being insincere to voters. I mean, you never know what will happen when the person actually gets the nomination.  What if they suggest they'll take someone for their VP, and voters vote for them expecting this, but then after the nomination,  they change their mind for some reason?  It would be a disappointment for the voters.  So, I don't think VP nods should be hinted at during the nomination process.   If you want to see someone on the ticket, the best guarantee you can have is by voting for them."

Hillary's Irish peace talk claims 'silly', says former Minister.

Fri Mar 07, 2008 at 06:25:13 PM PDT

Hillary Clinton had no direct role in bringing peace to Northern Ireland and is a "wee bit silly" for exaggerating the part she played, according to Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey, the Nobel Peace Prize winner and former First Minister of the province."

"I don’t know there was much she did apart from accompanying Bill [Clinton] going around," he said.

However, she did admire some stainless steel teapots while she was there, complimenting them for keeping the tea "so nice and hot".
