The Definition of Patriotism

Fri Jul 04, 2008 at 07:31:49 AM PDT

There has been a lot of talk recently about patriotism -- what it is, who has it, etc.  I feel like a lot of it is self-serving and destructive and I just wanted to add my voice.

Is "Ivy League educated" the latest smear?

Fri Jun 06, 2008 at 08:18:27 AM PDT

Is it me or do people seem to gratuitously refer to Obama's "Ivy League education?"  I'm no expert on the subtleties of racial politics, but this seems frighteningly similar to the "articulate" label.  I guess it could just be a way to tag him as liberal, but even that is pretty hypocritical (see stats below).

Wed May 14, 2008 at 06:29:40 AM PDT

From the CNN Exit polls, it appears that the race factor may have been a little overblown by the breathless reporting from West Virginia.  I think what we're dealing with here is a lot of low-information voters who really like Bill Clinton.  (And the Clintons knew it and used it.)

Hillary Should Stay In The Race

Fri May 09, 2008 at 11:00:57 AM PDT

Well, I should make that: There's no reason to call for Clinton to drop out right now.  Hypocrisy, you say?  Not exactly.  Read on.

All the polls were right (except PPP)

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 06:35:16 AM PDT

I was just looking through the very last polls before Pennsylvania to see which one got it right.  It looks like they pretty much all got it right.
