Obama is still crushing McCain in the Hispanic / Latino community. It seems that McCain has gotten nothing for all his spending the past month. Those of you familiar with my diaries and my site know that this isn’t "new," news, but it seems to be new to CNN. Today the Pew Hispanic Center released a new poll that shows Obama crushing McCain in the demographic.
Obama 66%
McCain 23%
Telephone interview with a sample size do 2,015.... Very nice!
John McCain is just a little jealous these days. He now has a hit piece on the Media that he is about to launch. Mr. Media McCain seems to be throwing a temper tantrum in order to get attention and this is NOT going to help him any. He has learned nothing from Clinton’s run and now he’s attempting to attack the media as she did in hopes that Obama is knocked down a peg.
Is John McCain frustrated, or maybe a little of jealous, of Obama's headline grabbing trip? Looks like all signs point to yes as Iraq's Prime Minister gives new confidence to Obama's withdrawal plan, Bloomberg News says "Middle Eastern and European leaders are lining up to hear what Barack Obama has to say," and General Petraeus gave photographers fresh photo-ops with the Democratic leader.
Note: this is not an endorsement of Bayh as he is not my first choice as VP, but he did a heck of a job with Lieberman and he is impressing some folks.
Evan Bayh is making a case for VP and I think I am starting to like the guy. I’d have to say that I am first in favor of a strong military man by Obama’s side. I think that a person like Clark or Webb could nullify the one avenue McCain actually can proceed on, but with Webb taking himself out and Clark attacking on his own making media splash's, and the focus in November being the economy not Iraq, my views are changing... Maybe Kaine from VA.
Don't get me wrong, I love the work that Clark has done because it was very effective and I think he's still a good choice. As I stated before in another diary, Clark’s comment has burried itself in American's minds. My mother in-law who is a Republican voting for Obama, was yelling at the T.V. a few weeks ago that "just because the man was shot doesn’t make him qualified," when a talking head started pumping McCain and Iraq. I smiled and silently thanked General Clark when those words came tumbling out.
This has been a historic election already and could shape up to be more historic if that is even possible. Everyone seems to be interested in the election this year. Young, old, black, white, and yes the elusive sleeping giant... brown. Over a 1 million new Hispanics / Latinos were registered during the primary season and another 2 Million MORE is the target for the General election. This is an amazing figure and an extremely important one as you look at the implications.
Before you flame me read this trough to understand the title. I’m back after being gone for a week and a half. The Mrs. and I have been on summer vacation visiting folks back in Texas. We don’t get to see relatives very often because of work obligations and vacation time. It pulls on us at times. Since I had last seen my grandfather a year and a half ago he’s had two brushes with death. At the age of 85 he survived throat cancer, a remarkable feet for his age and at 86 he survived an emergency tracheotomy performed with no real pain relief since it was do it now or let him die. The need for the trach was a side effect of swelling from the cancer treatments months later.
For readers of my site, yes I'm back, and this article is cross-posted there.
Some bloke named Andy Martin has been named as the source of the now viral "Obama is a Muslim," email that has been passed around the net for months. The Washington Post has the story here.
So how was this guy discovered, it took an Obama supporter named Danielle Allen who has two doctorates to figure this one out and she’s nailed the guy. So who the heck is Andy Martin?
I sure hope McCain isn't paying his staff much money cause man do they stink at their job. Granted they have a tough job of making McCain look young, hip, smart, energetic, enthusiastic, smart, oops said that one already...
This camp can’t go a single day without falling on their face, flip-flopping on an issue, or just saying something so stupid it hurts to read.
The past couple of months we’ve seen the Hispanic issue evaporate in front of our eyes. Individual states started to give us a glimpse at what many knew would come, but the media loved the story about Obama having a Hispanic problem. The latest proof that Obama is sitting pretty with Hispanics and McCain has a big problem comes from Latino Decision Poll that has Obama leading by 39 points, pulling 63% to McCain’s 24% of likely voters, 60/23 all Latinos.

Let’s see if the media finally gets the message. I applaud Olbermann for his acknowledgement of this key number in the poll NBC released. For those who don’t know, an NBC News / WallStreet Journal Poll conducted from June 6th thru June 9th was released today, and the results are in line with the Gallup daily tracking polls and the Rasmussen Report Daily tracking polls. A full bump may not be accounted for either since half the polling was done before the official concession by Senator Clinton. The big overall number is Obama beating McCain by 6%, the big number within that that interest me and my website...
A gallup fellow was just on MSNBC talking about the past tracking polls. He gave MSNBC the scoop first, Obama now +7 over McCain. It seems that the bump is builing as the 3 day tracking is showed stong movement in Obama's favor that has now stabalized.
Barack Obama has a 48% to 41% lead in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking presidential election trial heat, based on June 7-9 polling.
Voting preferences have been fairly stable over the last three individual days of tracking polling, all conducted since Hillary Clinton officially suspended her candidacy and publicly endorsed Obama for president on Saturday.
The seven percentage point advantage is Obama's largest to date since Gallup began tracking the general election in March. In turn, McCain has led Obama by as many as six percentage points in early May. (To view the complete trend since Jan. 3, 2008,
According to all reports, tonight the fight might finally be officially over. Right now Obama stands on the edge of wrapping up the nomination. As a result I am proposing a toast for all, 9 pm-ish (or as soon as Obama finish’s on stage tonight. I don’t know what time that is exactly.)
Midday, late day Superdelegate Thread. We'll use this to keep the update total going. as of 5:42 pm CST another just came in....
Notables: 17 Senators Plan to Endorse Later this week after giving Clinton a grace period (reported all over the web and news networks)
30 - 34 House Members to to endorse Tuesday and or Wednesday possibly by the time Obama takes the stage Tuesday night. This via Hardball and Andrea Mitchell's sources. (NBC News says "They now know that 34 House Members,")
For those of you who don't know these guys.... you should. They are pretty funny guys regardless of where your political views fall. They call their act, "Red State Update," Think of them as Colbert in overalls and boots. Yes, they bash Democrats a lot, but so does Colbert, and if you listen to their spots they make fun of Republicans a lot too. Honestly a lot of their jokes probably go right over their target audiences head. Check them out, but go in knowing they might take a shot at us. Still funny. IMO
Producer Andres Levin, who worked with Will.i.am on the now famous "Yes we Can," video has lent his hand to another great piece. I’ve diaried a number of times that the demographic is already coming over to Obama, but shoring up the vote never hurts, and we know McCain thinks he can make a play for the demographic. Here is the latest star studded piece that targets Latinos/Hispanics. (below the break)
The media has been trying and make a story out of Obama’s low Hispanic vote turnout. They assume that since he lost the vote in many states, that he will lose the vote in Nov. I can not emphisis how stupid of an argument this is. We’ve seen the argument made with "whites," until Obama won the demographic in Oregon, only after winning Iowa, Wisconsin, Utah, Washington... you get the idea. Once again the media isn’t doing it’s job of conducting journalistic research. Here’s what the real story is on Obama and the Hispanic vote.
Need some help.... Yesterday a report hit the net that McCain was looking for bloggers to infiltrate sites across the net. We’ll today I’m recruiting bloggers to post, or just cross-post on my site. My site was built off of the Great Kos Daddy model and in now way am I trying to replace it. The Daily Kos is the single most influential site out there and we should all keep the movement going, but I’m trying to target a demographic that has traditionally not come out to vote in large numbers and is only now finding a voice.
TN GOP is playing with fire. Barack Obama stated today "Lay off my wife." People in the MSM saw this as an empty passing warning, nothing more. He said that the TN GOP "needs to think long and hard," about the tactics they are using. The MSM didn’t sit and think about this at all, not surprising.... What exactly was Obama implying? What was his threat? Senator Bob Corker understands and is trying to make the TN GOP see what he sees.
Late today Senator Bob Corker released a statement warning his state party to back away from their latest attack on Michelle Obama. If you haven’t seen the attack looky here.
