General Wes Clark, Welcome to Barack Obama's Democratic Party
Wed Jun 11, 2008 at 07:25:29 PM PDT
Wesley Clark, General US Army (Retired), often gets mentioned as a potential Vice Presidential candidate for Barack Obama.
Often there is a quick response about his attacks against Senator during the primary in favor of his longtime friend Senator Hillary Clinton.
His recent interview with the Huffington Post should open a few eyes. There is some serious healing going on in this Party.

Remaining Contests enable Media Buys that help "swing states"
Wed May 07, 2008 at 08:36:36 PM PDT
We have all come to the realization that there will be at least two more weeks worth of contests.
The solo date of West Virginia on May 13th, and the duel of Kentucky v Oregon.
While the outcome of these contests is almost certain to not effect who the eventual nominee is, there is a chance that how Obama campaigns in these states can effect some swing state prospects for November.

Why become a state legislator?
Thu Apr 10, 2008 at 08:35:35 PM PDT
My LD is recruiting. Of course I pondered the idea, but my personal strengths and interests are in national issues
That isn't the only reason I didn't raise my hand.
Fear.Trepidation.Challenge
But mainly
I couldn't answer the question "Why?"
Sorry, but I'm busy Saturday (updated)
Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 07:49:11 PM PDT
I know you'd rather go with me to the coffeehouse, or join me in my quest for new tires. Certainly I could watch some of the Premiership, or dream about Thierry Henry. There's Spring Cleaning or yardwork that calls as well.
But I'm busy Saturday.
I have to go be a Democrat and an Obama delegate, not just for a day, but for as long as it takes. I caucused on February 9th, and now I go to the 5th Legislative District Convention. It is my duty, and our continuing opportunity to bring change.
So I'm busy Saturday, and hopefully every other delegate in the state is as well.
Democracy in American Sports - The Seattle Test (update)
Thu Mar 27, 2008 at 05:24:06 PM PDT
This might be an odd thing to post at daily kos, but I think to myself it isn't quite fully off topic. It does involve a certain level of politics, while also showing the power of the grassroots and netroots.
Major League Soccer is expanding to Seattle. The ownership is made up of Joe Roth (Hollywood Producer), Paul Allen (yeah, that one), Adrian Hannauer (local soccer supporter) and Drew Carey. Drew has some things that might not make him popular here at dKos, but in this case he ONLY joined the ownership because they agreed with him to attempt to bring Democracy to American sports.
This effort would be an echo of what has been done with the Barcelona club in Spain. The most notable element is that the fans can vote on the President of the Club. But Seattle's first test is coming up, quite simply - the name vote.
Baghdad is still safe - John McCain visits
Sun Mar 16, 2008 at 02:23:49 PM PDT
John McCain made a little stop in Baghdad today.
You all remember last time he said it was safe in Baghdad. I don't need to go over those details, we know them.
How safe was it this time?
Delegate Racing Fans - Contests Prior to Pennsylvania

I'm not talking about special elections or state issues. For that please go to this wonderful open thread on the subject.
There are still the middle and late stages of caucuses. Earlier reported results for most caucuses are merely media estimates. When the results change in Iowa tomorrow it will not be a failure of the system, but a failure of the media.
Why would Iowa change?
(updated)Hillary - beware of the Ides of March, or why Iowa still matters
Sun Mar 09, 2008 at 12:14:21 PM PDT
Next up is Mississippi, we all know that. But on the Ides of March Iowa has the next round of caucusing. Early media estimates of the results had Edwards getting 14 delegates (Obama at 16, Clinton at 15). These early estimates have currently failed to adjust based on the Edwards campaign suspension.
All of his earlier pledged precinct delegates have to rethink their earlier positions and oaths. Each has a duty and a responsibility to favor on March 15th the candidate remaining that would best serve their precinct, the state of Iowa and the Nation.
Update:This next round of caucusing is at the COUNTY level and is among only those elected from their precinct level. Even the state level estimates on CNN, have ignored the middle round. This is true in EVERY caucus state. Recall the chaos in Clark County, Nevada. In comments I mention that event next happens on April 12.
prObama $5.27 - common people for a common cause
Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 05:58:22 PM PDT
Today you probably noticed Adam B's storyabout the American Leadership Project (ALP), a 527 with the sole purpose of "contrasting" Senators Clinton and Obama in order to for Senator Clinton to win the Ohio, and possibly other, March 4th primaries.
This is the effort of the truly rich to skirt campaign finance laws. It is an attack effort by Clinton bundlers to damage another Democrat. It is quite frankly reprehensible behavior.
What can be done to fix this?
Is there room in this tent? Or how this stubborn Indie became a Democrat
Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 09:12:03 PM PDT
Yeah, its my first diary. You already figured that out from the title. Even more disgusting this will likely read a lot like a candidate diary, but it is me, and it is personal and if this medium isn't a place for someone to discuss how they became a Democrat and a Kossack I don't know what is.
I am not an easily defined voter. I have a scattershot history, sometimes a foolish one even. Up until recently I had the privilege of voting in Washington state and not having to declare a party during the primary. That meant that my record was even more screwy as I would vote in a Democratic primary and then later vote for the GOP candidate in the general, sometimes the other way. Sometimes I would toss my GE vote down the toilet with a write-in or third party vote. This election I promised I would do something different. I wanted to look deeply at these sets of candidates and see which came closest to matching my own vision for America.
