"The Economics of Delusion"

Thu May 15, 2008 at 01:55:14 PM PDT

I know a lot about economics, my degree is in economics, I made damn good grades in economics, I have even entertained the idea of having a career in that field and it is still not out of the realm of possibilities. I have read Adam Smith, John Stuart Mill, Thorsten Veblin, Kenneth Galbreath, Robert Heilbroner, Joseph Schumpeter, Frederick Hayek, Paul Samuelson - hell, I have even read Milton Friedman & Karl Marx. My first Economics professor was an asshole at A & M named Phillip Gramm (You might know him as Sen. Gramm). I know economics more than your average joe but it does not take a genius in economics to know we are in trouble and headed down the wrong path. But McCain says "I think we are better off overall". Who is this "we"? Members of the millionaires club I guess because it is certainly not the middle or lower classes! Not all of us are fortunate enough to cheat on our spouse (called adultery in my copies of the Bible) and marry a heiress like Cindy McCain. For the rest of us
here is where we really stand.

White, Working Class Voters

Thu May 08, 2008 at 06:16:08 AM PDT

The MSM now wants to say Obama has a problem with WWCV, which Hillary has consistantly won. This has become the latest broken record in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. In November WWCV will have a choice between the Democratic candidate of Barrack Obama or four more years of George Bush policies. This will be a no brainer for white, working class voters. On the other hand....

If We Were Republicans...

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 03:14:16 PM PDT

One(of many) of the new campaign meme coming out of the Clinton camp after PA primary is if we used the Republican winner take all system she would be ahead. Once again she is wrong!!!

On to Plan B in Iraq w/poll

Tue Apr 01, 2008 at 05:55:17 AM PDT

With new elections called for October in Iraq (just before the election here in November) it is imperative that Bush & Co. win that contest. Plan A as put forward by Dick Cheney a few weeks ago to al-Maliki was for Iraqi forces to crush the popular opposition. With the utter humiliation of al-Maliki and his puppet master Bush in the fighting last week in Iraq it is time to come up with Plan B of what we will call Operation Subvert Democracy (Phase 3).

Hopeful in Texas!

Sun Mar 30, 2008 at 06:56:01 AM PDT

I have a different story to tell that most of the other diaries here about the Texas caucuses that gives me hope. I was at the Ellis County caucus with about 360 delegates in attendence. I won't say things went smooth since somebody (you can guess) challenged every delegate there, so instead of being called to order at 1PM it was 2:45. Not a good way to start the day! But while all of the behind the scene stuff was going on we had a chance to get in groups and discuss delegates to state, etc. Even though it was split roughly equal (60/40 Obama) it was a very civil crowd with what appeared to be a unified front. Several times during this period the Sgt. At Arms would come out and say "Do we have any Republicans here? Do we have anybody going to vote for a Republican candidate?" Both big loud No's!

What am I Missing?

Thu Mar 27, 2008 at 12:30:08 PM PDT

We've heard over and over from the Clinton camp that pledged delegates are not actually pledged delegates and are free to do as they please, free agents in other words. But that is just not the case. The 2008 Delegate Selection Rules for the Democratic National Convention clearly state in Rule #12

J. Delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good
conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.

But no one seems to be calling her out on this lie!

Dear Supers, Why Do We Listen to Republicans?

Wed Mar 26, 2008 at 02:12:51 PM PDT

Hillary has won the popular vote count in exactly 3 states in the last 17 races. Her victory in Texas was so slim that Obama ended up with the overall victory by defeating her in the caucuses. Her victory in Ohio now appears tainted by the NAFTA-gate scandal that broke just days before and certainly contributed to Obama's defeat there. But an even bigger contributing factor has been Republicans crossover voters.

It's Not 3 AM; You're Awake, Alert and Well Rested

Wed Mar 12, 2008 at 05:18:32 PM PDT

As a matter of fact; you have had days, weeks and even months to ponder your decision and determine what to say and do about this crisis. You are well respected and a leader of your party, some people may even be influenced by your words and vote. Whether to put our young men and women in harm's way. (Not yours; of course, or probably any of your important backers I'm sure.) Thousands of ours and many, many times more of theirs will die. And this is what you say......

A Fine Mess

Mon Mar 10, 2008 at 02:01:46 PM PDT

Well it has been the talk of MSM and the blogsphere all weekend long, what is to be done about the Michigan and Florida delegates? I will tell you right up-front I am a democrat and I support, contribute and campaign for Obama. I will try to be as objective as possible with this entry but it will include some digs at Hillary because quite frankly she deserves them over this matter (I will include the reasons for the shots!)

More on the flip side.

The Other Side of Hillary

Sat Mar 08, 2008 at 06:31:53 AM PDT

I have always been a Clinton (both of them) supporter, backer and defender. I supported her decision to stand by her man. I thought she would make a good president. But with her recent scorch and burn policies I have seen a side of her that in the past I refused to see or denied it existed. This is the Hillary of all the wing nut vitriol. This is the scorned woman than Proverbs spoke of. This is the Hillary that makes me question her character.
