Great words by Peggy Noonan. Seriously.

Fri Jun 06, 2008 at 05:47:00 PM PDT

Yes, Peggy Noonan was a speechwriter for Reagan and is a conservative.  But she's a very good writer, and has often been spot-on during this campaign.

Here's an excerpt from her column today.

Required reading for disgruntled Hillary supporters

George Will nicely summed up a few of the more salient arguments against Hillary's candidacy, and her supporters' frequent assertion that she is the victim of sexism.

Why I have opposed Hillary from the start

Sadly, I've never been more right about anything in my life.  And it just keeps getting worse...

I'm torn. Should Obama hit back at Clintonism?

Sun Apr 27, 2008 at 06:41:04 AM PDT

To me, Clintonism can be defined as soulless, calculating, win-at-any-cost politics.  Even if Obama weren't a truly fantastic candidate, I would probably support him if only to reject Clintonism, which I view as no better than McCain.

It seems that Obama's campaign knows that Hillary's #1 political tactic in her career has been playing the victim.   Right or wrong, that tactic has galvanized many behind her and was unquestionably successful in her 2000 Senate run, and even in her tenure as First Lady.

Rep. James Clyburn says it:  Hillary is gunning for 2012

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 06:41:43 PM PDT

Many of us have been speculating for weeks now that since the nomination is out of reach, Hillary's main objective is to clobber Obama enough so that he won't beat McCain, thus preserving her viability for 2012.

And now the top-ranking African-American congressman from South Carolina is saying just that.

Why is the media ignoring North Carolina?!

Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 02:53:54 PM PDT

I'm getting ready to lose my mind.  We hear for 6 weeks that Pennsylvania, a state TAILOR-MADE demographically for Hillary, is critical.  So important.  Hugely vital.

But now that it's over, all the media wants to talk about is Indiana, Indiana, Indiana.

Drudge: NYT teasing possible Obama/Clinton ticket

Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 06:11:22 PM PDT

In my zeal to support Senator Obama's campaign for the Democratic nomination, I honestly haven't stopped to think about the VP slot.

But with Hillary's defeat seeming inevitable, there will certainly be a desire amongst many of us to bring Hillary's supporters back into the fold, and how better to do that than Hillary as VP, right?

Chris Matthews on Today Show

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 05:32:23 AM PDT

Chris Matthews predicted a double-digit HRC win in Pennsylvania, which is reasonable (even if many polls disagree).

But then he moved on to some comments that I found less than reasonable.

My letter to Bob Johnson (BET founder, Bobcats CEO, Clintonista)

Mon Apr 14, 2008 at 04:04:18 PM PDT

Today, BET founder, Clinton supporter, and Charlotte Bobcats owner Bob Johnson said this about Geraldine Ferraro's comments:

Geraldine Ferraro said it right. The problem is Geraldine Ferraro is white. This campaign has such a hair trigger on anything racial. It is almost impossible for anybody to say anything.

Well, I'm a Bobcats season ticketholder and I cannot hold my tongue anymore.  Mr. Johnson has made some egregious comments during the election (comparing Obama to Sidney Poitier in 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner'), and was one of the people who signed that infamous letter to Nancy Pelosi.

Enough is enough.

HRC: "There is no such thing as a pledged delegate"

Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 05:27:45 PM PDT

"There is no such thing as a pledged delegate," Clinton said at a news conference in California, where she has been fundraising.
...
Pledged delegates are a "misnomer. The whole point is for delegates, however they are chosen, to really ask themselves who would be the best president and who would be our best nominee against Senator McCain," Clinton said. "And I think that process goes all the way to the convention."
