Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 24, 2008
Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 06:40:40 PM PDT
I think someone may have spiked my Diet Coke with something extra special tonight because tonight's diary prep went to 2 pages - again. Goody for us all - I hope!
So, let's Countdown for the night before payday for me!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 23, 2008
Wed Jul 23, 2008 at 06:40:00 PM PDT
On this Hump Day, I hope you got to be or will be able to assume whichever role you want - either humpee or humper. I wonder what the candidates' stance on Hump Day is? Inquiring minds want to know!
I've got nothing else "Intro" - wise; I've felt like my alarm just went off all day today. So, on to tonight's Countdown diary!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 22, 2008
Tue Jul 22, 2008 at 06:38:51 PM PDT
Well, look at that! Keith had a real fake L.A. background tonight. I thought he was supposed to be back in New York. Oh well...at least he’s here!
I need to warn you all I was really on a roll tonight doing prep work; much of what was covered tonight really got my proverbial goat, so I won't waste time & space with attempts at witty introductions.
Let's Countdown for Tuesday night!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 21, 2008
Mon Jul 21, 2008 at 06:41:56 PM PDT
If Keith's on the "no fly" list, his delays must not be too terrible if he made it to L.A. over the weekend. Either that, or someone drove him there like a bat out of hell! How cool were Keith & Rachel "together"? "In all kinds of weather..." OK, today was my first day back to work after nearly 2 weeks off. Ugh, ugh, and UGH!!
So, enough with the disjointed introductions and on to tonight's Countdown diary.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 18, 2008
Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 06:39:15 PM PDT
I watched V for Vendetta tonight just before Countdown. I highly recommend it. Yep, it'll depress you for awhile, and it'll remind you an awfully lot of a few certain somebodies, but the ending is faboo. So, if you haven't seen it, SEE IT! It stars Natalie Portman (of The Professional & Star Wars prequals), John Hurt (of the first Alien movie & 1984), and the actor who found out the hard way that the woman he was in love with in The Crying Game was really...well...I don't want to give away too much; sorry the actor's name escapes me.
All right - enough movie talk - it's time for Countdown!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - OTR "Edition" - July 17, 2008
Thu Jul 17, 2008 at 06:38:43 PM PDT
Why the "OTR Edition," you ask? Well, instead of watching the fist airing live like I normally do, I had to catch the DVRed version because I got home 40 minutes into it because I was here:
http://www.imamuseum.org/...
What fun! I've seen the scroll before, of course, but I actually learned a couple of new things in the presentation tonight by the gentleman keeping the scroll in one piece. Ah...I actually forgot where I live for a couple of hours; it was nice.
Oh well, so advanced apologies if tonight's diary isn't as "through" as I'd normally like it to be. Back to my non - "Beat" "Hoosier" reality, if I must, and on to tonight's Countdown!
Welcome Back, Olbermann! Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 16, 2008
Wed Jul 16, 2008 at 06:41:55 PM PDT
I need to warn you all, without tooting my own horn TOO much, that I was on a roll tonight if I do say so my own darn self - absolutely on a roll! Maybe, even a ciabatta or a baguette! Hee...Hee...! :)
Friends of Olbermann, not to get real preachy for real long, but I know we're all excited Keith's back, but let's keep the "excitement" to PG - 13 levels, OK? You know I love great discussion and great fun and the occasional "beefcake" comment - not that I'd EVER make one ;) - but there's other places to get all gushy - mushy about Keith. There's important issues to discuss, and I dare say the future of our country's at stake here. As I often say, I endeavor to entertain but also to educate. I won't claim "executive privilege" or nothin'!
So, on that note, let's Countdown for Wednesday, July 16, 2008!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 15, 2008
Tue Jul 15, 2008 at 06:53:46 PM PDT
These pics were taken on Sunday, our anniversary. We spent most of the day in Louisville. Louisville is "bat country" because it is the hometown of Hunter S. Thompson and "bat country" because it is the home of the Louisville Slugger factory and museum! We didn't take the tour because they don't manufacture bats on Sundays, and we were a little pressed for time. I absolutely intend to go back! Other pictures are from Falls of Ohio State Park, a good place to go fossil hunting (don't tell the Creation Museum people that!) and from where we had dinner.

Keith will be back tomorrow night. I know we all missed him. But, he earned his time off and then some. Let's keep our "excitement" to PG - 13 levels and express our enthusiastic gratitude to Rachel Maddow for being his "DH"! THANK YOU, RACHEL!!
Now, on to tonight's Countdown diary.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann- July 14, 2008
Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 06:39:38 PM PDT
On this anniversary of the storming of the Bastille in France to begin the French Revolution, please don't be sending me to the chopping block for not bringing Keith back with me tonight! Please??!! ;) I'm here; I'm back on my bed with my laptop and my kitties helping me!
I've got round 1 of trip pictures to share! These pictures are from Madison, Indiana, a town in southeast Indiana on the Ohio River (the body of water you'll see); Kentucky is on the other side of the river. I need to explain the significance of the pigs you'll see. Every year, a big BBQ festival is held in Madison. Businesses in town can decorate cement pigs as part of a fun contest in conjunction with the festival. So, the pigs you'll see were in front of a store where you could buy hospital scrubs, a chocolate shop, and I can't remember where the law enforcement pig was:

Here's a teaser about tomorrow's pictures. I was literally & figuratively in bat country!
Now, on to tonight's Countdown diary.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 10, 2008
Thu Jul 10, 2008 at 06:41:25 PM PDT
This Sunday is the 6th wedding anniversary of my dearly beloved & me, so we're leaving tomorrow afternoon for a long weekend. It's not San Francisco; hell, it's not even out of the state, but it's at least out of town and won't bankrupt us. So, the Countdown diary is taking a long weekend, too, but I'll be back Monday along with (probably) Keith!
Here is one of my favorite pictures of me. Hubby took this picture during our honeymoon in San Francisco. I didn't even know he was taking it. We're in Caffe Trieste, and I'm reading the paper and enjoying the best vanilla latte' I've ever had!

On with the Countdown diary fun!
RIP That Quaint 4th Amendment - Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 9, 2008
Wed Jul 09, 2008 at 06:42:14 PM PDT
If today were any other day, I'd be doing handsprings at the fact that I have nearly the next 2 weeks off of work. But today's FISA vote was just...wow...I think I've run out of FCC - approved language to express my disgust. So, here's a link to today's roll call Senate vote. There is absolutely no excuse for 68 - 29. Read this & retch:
http://www.senate.gov/...
During days like this, I look to the words of people I most respect, so, in anticipation of a new political environment post the regime of the current ilk at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and on Capitol Hill, here are some words from George Carlin: "Hello. I'm Howard Finely [or John Edwards?], and I'm running for attorney general. This is my pledge to you: If I am elected, and someone breaks the law, I will personally go to his house and beat the $hit out of him. Thank you."
Do you feel a little better? I do! Now, on to tonight's Countdown diary.
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 8, 2008
Tue Jul 08, 2008 at 06:47:15 PM PDT
Well, gee, I get to begin tonight's diary with a couple of semi - unpleasant tasks. First, a lecture - sorry - I'll make it brief. We are all smart, passionate, funny, and care A LOT about our country and it's future. The petty name - calling and cheap shots as reflected in some of last night's comments are beneath us. We are better than that, and sniping won't accomplish what we hope to see in this nation in the next months. OK, lecture over.
Next, a monsoon blew through my neighborhood during the #5 story and knocked out the satellite, so I don't have much. Y'all will have to fill in the blanks; please and thanks!
OK, let's blog tonight's Countdown!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 7, 2008
Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 06:42:03 PM PDT
Team, I have created & am adding a new word to the F.O.O./DailyKos dictionary for my comments & diaries; that word is $hittacular. I'm sure you've heard me use craptacular on a number of occasions. $hittacular is worse. $hittacular is getting in my car this morning, starting it up, and hearing this horrible screeching sound of metal on metal, then having the "check battery" light come on about halfway to work, then having the "check engine" light come on about 10 minutes away from work, then sitting in a Midas muffler on the southside of Indianapolis for 2 hours before even getting to work, then leaving $630 "lighter" because the alternator, belts, and something else were totally shot and needed to be replaced. Once I got to work, phone was ringing off the hook, I had emails out the wazoo, and appointments. Oh, forgot something. I get to spend probably a good chunk of Thursday in a tire place for one of my tires to be replaced because the Midas guy found a hole that couldn't be patched there for whatever reason. I knew I should've stood in bed.
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. On to tonight's Countdown diary!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 2, 2008
Wed Jul 02, 2008 at 06:39:19 PM PDT
Hey! Rachel Maddow’s in the house! How 'bout that? Good for Keith for taking some time off.
And, to express my appreciation for others being patient enough and good natured enough to tolerate some of the more "exciting" comments about Keith and my droolings about Richard Wolffe, any Rachel Maddow fans are welcome to go nuts! Let's just keep it at around a PG - 13 rating, OK? :)
On to tonight's Countdown diary!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - July 1, 2008
Tue Jul 01, 2008 at 06:40:28 PM PDT
Rabbit...Rabbit...Rabbit! According to my Marconi - award - winning morning radio silly guys, Bob & Tom, you're supposed to repeat this phrase the first day of a new month for good luck. What the heck...it couldn't hurt!
Last night's live diary was great fun! Thanks to all of you who showed up with your great comments whenever you were able to make it. I appreciate it and your continued support of my Countdown diary efforts awfully very much!
Now, on to tonight's diary!
Nobody Knows the FISA I've Seen - Countdown with Keith Olbermann, June 30, 2008
Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 04:45:27 PM PDT
Live from Indianapolis, it's Monday night! As per my "usual" diary procedure, anything covered on Countdown tonight is fair game, but I'm not moranic enough to delude myself into thinking that the majority of the comments won't at least touch upon tonight's "special comment" about FISA, Senator Obama, and John Dean's interpretation of the FISA legislation.
One would've had to live under a big 'ol rock over the past few weeks to miss the fact that Senator Obama's position on upcoming FISA legislation has been an emotionally and politically charged topic. Those of you here who are "regular" Countdown diary participants know that I welcome and encourage lively educational debate and discussion; tonight will be no different. But, I absolutely will not tolerate personal attacks on the opinions of any participant here, upon Keith Olbermann, or any other topic addressed in his "special comment." Disagreement and discussion is fine; last I checked, the United States was still a semi - free country. But, personal attacks of a nasty hurtful nature won't get anyone anywhere and will accomplish little.
Lecture's over - on to tonight's Countdown f*ckin' live diary! Now, where'd I put that falafel...
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - June 27, 2008
Fri Jun 27, 2008 at 06:43:37 PM PDT
Congrats to me for getting the date correct tonight! It's been a hell of a week - George Carlin's death, FISA fights, SCOTUS renewing their NRA memberships, etc. I am happy to put this week behind me, and I intend to sleep the sleep of the passed out.
Just a couple of reminders...email Purple Priestess if you want a Friends of Olbermann shirt. I think we just need 1 more person! Also, NBC is running the very first Saturday Night Live tomorrow night which was hosted by Mr. Carlin. Set your favorite recording device because this show will be a keeper!
On to tonight's Countdown diary!
Countdown with Keith Olbermann - June 25, 2008
Thu Jun 26, 2008 at 06:39:00 PM PDT
RIP to the 2nd amendment as of today; go out and get them bazookas! On second thought, a bazooka may bit big for me; I'm only 5'2", you know. Better make mine a sawed - off shot gun. And, barring a miracle of biblical proportions, we all can bid a fond farewell to the 4th amendment shortly after the celebration of our...um...gee...independence from a power that was doing the stuff to us that said amendment would try to protect us from later on. Irony's faboo!
But, let's all look on the bright side. Tomorrow is Friday, and George Carlin's talking about pulling underwear out of your hind quarters as I type this! Yes, I own all the DVDs of the HBO shows, but you can never have enough George.
So, on to tonight's Countdown diary!
