NYT Op-Ed: Obama is an apostate Muslim!
Mon May 12, 2008 at 05:57:56 AM PDT
The NYT, proving yet again that it's the most "liberal" paper of the whole "liberal" media, produces the opposite meme of "Obama is the Hamas candidate."
Yes, folks, it's "Obama is an apostate Muslim!" and therefore Hamas won't ever trust him! You can't make this up!
Hadley *didn't* "misspeak" Nepal/Tibet mixup.
Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 06:00:55 AM PDT
The dialog was ridiculed far and wide in the blogosphere, showing how inept Bush regime toadies were. Bush regime national security adviser Stephen Hadley "mixed up" Nepal and Tibet during an interview with George Stephanopolous on Sunday.
But was it a mistake?
What nobody's mentioned much about Tibet: there's likely ores in them thar Himalayas...

Omigod Hillary: Greenspan should help fix economy??!!

THIS is what the rest of the world is seeing of the USA
Thu Mar 20, 2008 at 07:38:04 AM PDT
Forget about Obama's pastor. Forget about Hillary's needle threading to get the nomination.
Forget even about the fact that John McCain is an absolute blithering idiot.
That's not what the rest of the world, or at least international business travelers and Europeans are seeing.
That's below the fold...

A White Guy's Open Letter to Clinton and Ferarro
Thu Mar 13, 2008 at 06:26:56 AM PDT
OK, I've head enough.
Mondale was boring, albeit a better candidate then Reagan, and I voted for Mondale-Ferarro because they weren't Reagan-Bush. We could have done better, but there it is: reality.
But this latest thing with race?
Disgusting.
Obama: Bring out the Brass Knuckles. America wants you to.
Thu Mar 06, 2008 at 09:06:58 AM PDT
I realized that some of the shock and disgust we've seen from the Hillary Clinton camp was exactly what some Americans want to see.
So let's give it to them.
Pure Propaganda? Chavez "funding" FARC...

A modest proposal for saving energy & housing: Have a war on commuting!
Fri Feb 29, 2008 at 08:09:57 PM PDT
I'm writing this in Japan, and somewhere on this trip I had an epiphany. Perhaps it was when I was told that some of my Japanese counterparts commute up to two hours a day. Each way. And then it hit me:
- Commuting wastes time.
- Long commutes takes away from family life.
- Long commutes make for an inefficient work force.
- Long commutes take ridiculously large amounts of energy.
- Long commutes distort housing prices.
- Long commutes are openly hostile to the concept of community.
Why isn't this Belgrade thing front-paged here?
Fri Feb 22, 2008 at 05:50:20 AM PDT
People here should know damned enough history to know that what happened in Belgrade this week - the burning of our embassy resulting in the likely death of at least 1 person is Huge, Huge news. Bigger than Barack's day at the debates or even Hillary's problem with AUMF.
Slamming the Overton Window on John McCain
Thu Feb 21, 2008 at 06:36:24 AM PDT
It's time that we fought back preemptively at the slime machine heading down its way towards Obama . (See Glenn Greenwald for the dirt ). The extremity of attacks is breathtaking, but right now it's relatively confined, but it's a typical example of the Overton Window -the more extreme the attack, and the more it's propagated, the more something must be true.
So with that in mind, I'd like to point out some of the issues with John McCain that you might not know...that might help next time you meet a righty blathering about Obama's "Marxist" ties... (most of which is as distorted as the crap about Obama...we're not talkin' about the true stuff here.)
I am Liking Hillary Clinton Less and Less

Observations on race and Barack Obama
Tue Feb 12, 2008 at 07:07:08 AM PDT
I've long - maybe since 2004? - had a soft spot in my heart for Barack Obama.
Not that I'm a card-carrying member of his cult. Yeah, I voted for him. Doesn't mean I want him to do anything for me other than be president. In fact, I've tended to agree with Krugman about Obama's health care plan, and am not convinced entirely by the argument about reducing costs first. But I've long had a soft spot in my heart for Obama.
I will be supporting Obama tomorrow in the WA Caucuses
Fri Feb 08, 2008 at 12:57:44 PM PDT
Please let everyone make sure that as many people as possible go to the caucuses.
The Washington State Democratic Party has this nifty "Caucus Finder."
It seems to know who you are, but by all means, use it if you don't know where to go and when!
NYT Magazine: The End of the American Empire
Sun Jan 27, 2008 at 08:53:43 AM PDT
What a difference 5 years makes! The NYT, perhaps noticing the fact that Republican triumphalism is as dead as Russian Communism, has abandoned its cheerleading role in its magazine for a bit of realism...
The NY Times: Weird Romney/Mormon crap written on the campaign trail
Sun Jan 06, 2008 at 07:37:22 AM PDT
I just wanted to diary some rather bizarre things I've seen in the NY Times this morning. Quite a bit of them have to do with Mitt Romney and Mormonism- I'd half suspect it's the NYT trying to game the Repug side to make it competitive for Romney, except that I keep thinking, "The stupid! It burns!"
NYT: Huckabee's rise = Death of conservatism
Sun Dec 30, 2007 at 08:36:40 AM PDT
The NYT Week in Review section, like all of Time Magazine (except for the occasional interview)is opinion masquerading as news.
Today's Week in Review section features an article about Huckabee which presents a viewpoint common to my own: conservatism is dead. I've been saying it at least since Katrina, but now I have company...
