Indiana Getting Out the Vote!

Fri May 02, 2008 at 07:23:26 PM PDT

I've said many times in previous diaries (and other folks on DK have said the same) that the cities of Indianapolis (Marion County), Bloomington (Monroe County) and Gary (Lake County) will be allllll Obama.

Check out the story from Yahoo today:

"Black People should get over being Victims"

Unless of course, they continue to be victimized?

I cried for Barack Obama Yesterday

Wed Apr 30, 2008 at 06:52:21 AM PDT

Reading DK diaries yesterday, I saw a lot of different views on the recent Jeremiah Wright incident.  I also saw many people wondering how black people felt about it.

So I've decided to share an IM conversation between myself (black, educated female) and a good friend of mine (black, educated male).

Of course, we are only a snapshot of a portion of the black community, but I'm hopeful that this will give you some perspective on how some of us feel.

Black folks are not monolithic...we don't all agree, we don't all disagree...but those of us who grew up with one foot in the black community and one foot in the 'assimilated' white community live a dual life.

Though I wrote a diary early on about the essence of duality, it was not read by many, and I think it's important to talk about because it's REAL.

Please excuse the poor grammar and colorful language... that's what happens in private conversations. :)

Mini-Ground Report - Indiana 4.26.08 [With Photos]

Sat Apr 26, 2008 at 03:27:08 PM PDT

Today, I had a meeting in Bloomington and some errands to run in Indianapolis.

So I thought.. why not visually record what I'm seeing in regards to Obama support for Kossacks?  After all, in many diaries I see the question again and again, "How's it looking in Indiana?"

Well, take a look at what I saw being out and about for a few hours.

Revelations of White Observers: It May be a Racial Primary

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 08:52:29 AM PDT

Reading Andrew Sullivan's Blog, one of his readers wrote a very insightful observation she had about why race IS a factor in this primary and presidential contest.

It's not surprising to me, per se' (well... I am somewhat surprised that the reader observed this behavior so astutely).

I think this is reinforced by many things that white Obama supporters (who are the majority of his support btw) are seeing up close and in person... i.e. the supporters who went to PA to campaign for him and were called "N-lovers", etc.

Hillary Begging the SD's: What is she saying?

Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 01:23:36 PM PDT

Ambinder says:

24 Apr 2008 01:36 pm

Sen. Hillary Clinton, in Washington for Senate business, is in intense discussions, right now, with uncommitted superdelegates in a conference room at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Clinton held similar meetings last night.

We Got Next, Indiana

Tue Apr 22, 2008 at 09:02:51 PM PDT

I didn't expect Barack Obama to pull out Pennsylvania.  Who actually expected THAT?  All Obama could do was make inroads with groups he had been lacking... and all the data that I have read supports that claim.

It's only Hillary Clinton, who is determined to spin this into something that matters, who is bleeding support.

But that's okay girlie... have your fun and shot of Crown Royal tonight.

Bill Clinton: Under GOP Rules, Hillary would be winning

Well then.  Why doesn't she go to them then?

SNL Finally Gets It Right!

Sun Apr 13, 2008 at 02:18:08 PM PDT

I've been a little disappointed with Saturday Night Live lately, as I feel like their sketches have been amazingly Pro-Hillary.

Until their intro that debuted last night...

I Voted Early: A Hoosier Experience

Fri Apr 11, 2008 at 12:33:49 AM PDT

Yesterday, I voted early for Barack Obama at my county courthouse.

I was inspired by mattinjersey to share.... and considering "Indiana is the new Iowa", I think it's somewhat substantial to relay.

I finally was able to vote for someone who I didn't view as the 'lesser of 2 evils'.. Yesterday, I voted for the BEST candidate.

Drip Drip: Indiana Endorsements For Obama Con't....(4.9.08)

Wed Apr 09, 2008 at 09:26:07 PM PDT

Senator Barack Obama is having many silent victories.  Though some may believe that my home state will end up backing Hillary, IN political figures are slowly but surely, throwing their support behind Obama.

A week or so ago,25 Lawmakers stood together to endorse Obama at the IN Statehouse in Indianapolis, IN. It was reported almost in passing, as many, if not most of them are not superdelegates.

Obama Sign Slashed in IN

Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 07:29:34 AM PDT

I received this email today, and thought I'd share it on dailykos.

It just reiterates how this is an uphill fight, and how people on multiple sides have an irrational hatred (or just are plain silly) towards CHANGE.

Events like this have a silver lining in my opinion, because I love it when people show their true 'colors' (no pun intended).

Duality: Continuing the Obama Challenge

Thu Mar 27, 2008 at 12:36:23 PM PDT

I'm not going to use this diary to make white people feel bad....I promise.  Far from it.  I just thought I'd add my voice into the already (slowly) but building voices of people inspired by Barack Obama's 'Race' Speech last week.  I speak from my heart, my experiences, my eyes.

I ask that you speak from your experiences as well...not just rhetoric from the media or the town you live in.
