Barack Obama...? Nope, Ronald Reagan. Many Kossacks will view this video with some pause, I think it is effective and actually parallels well with the DKos story from yesterday 1980 Redux.
I just wanted to share this story I recieved, on this Sunday, for those of use who find our lives to be too hectic and too filled with stress at times.
The Senate on Wednesday failed to vote...AGAIN...on extending tax credits for renewable investments, primarily solar and wind. The vote was pretty much down party lines, with some defections.
Without these tax incentives many of the large renewable projects currently in the development pipeline will be delayed indefinitely and offer a good chance of being abandoned outright.
Not the sexiest diary coming up, but something I really want to raise awareness for, especially the California Kossacks, but all Kossacks to let them know about these practices that may be occuring in your state.
Proposition 2, Tretatment of Farm Animals, seeks to end the use of battery cage, gestation crates and veal crates for use in farming. If you are not familiar with these practices then continue below the fold.
The Tax Policy Center revised their earlier analysis on the two campigns tax and revenue policies to address the criticism that what the candidates say on the stump differs from what the campaign staffs had provided, An Updated Analysis of the 2008 Presidential Candidate's Tax Plans. So how much of a difference in cost?
The difference from what McCain saysd on his speeches versus what his campaign staff claims is his economic policy is a whopping $2.9 trillion more over 10 years, and that is from reducing revenues by $7 trillion versus $4.2 trillion. That is a whopping 65% increase in revenue shortfall.
Obama, on the other hand actually increases revenues by $400 billion from the relatively (relatively being key here) modest $2.8 trillion. The Obama plan, as described in speeches, raises reduces tax revenues by just $2.4 trillion over the 1009-2018 period.
In my mind the McCain screwup on the Iraqi timeline is it's own story and CBS cutting the answer out and replacing it with another answer is completely unethical is another story. ANd both are big stories, or should be. However, apart from KO on MSNBC, I cannot find a single MSM newsource that discusses either part of this.
Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and TNT are teaming up for a new reality series that is to follow the circus train on onme of it's tours of America. What almost certainly won't be shown is the oppresive conditions that the circus animals, especially the elephants, must live under and the abuse they must endure for people's enetertainment.
In the past month or so I have noticed a distrubing trend on DKos of folks writing diaries of completely made up stuff that try and make McCain, the President and other Republicans look bad. I suppose some of them are so outrageously false that they aren't meant to be taken seriously by anyone, but these things tend to proliferate throughout the Internet and take on lives of their own. I think it is simply bad form to be inventing stories about Republicans to try and make them look worse than they already are. Recent examples below the fold.
John McCain biggest problem is not John McCain, it is George Bush. Well it also John McCain who, despite how much he claims it to be otherwise is nothing more than a third Bush term. Now this is not news to the Kossacks, but my point is that this meme must be hammered away night and day until it doesn't just become true in fact but becomes true in perception. Below the fold is the simple formula to help push the message.
The more McCain is associated with W, the more it is ingrained in people's minds the more he will struggle. It is a box he cannot escape from. Over and over again, repeat the meme.
McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush McCain = Bush
I originally wrote this diary, "Declaration of Independence from George W Bush" about a month ago. However, I feel maybe it would have been more appropriate to write it for today. Today we celebrate the day the American colonists listed their grievances against the King of England and declared their independence. This year, a list of grievances against our current leader has also been produced, by Denis Kucinich. In that spirit I present the Decelaraion of Independence, 2008 (with apologies to Thomas Jefferson):
Diane Feinstein has indicated she will support the new FISA bill. Now I am going to be honest, despite all the talk here on DKos, I don't fully understand the bill, so I am not going to comment on her letter. But I am posting it, below the fold for others to comment on.
Norm Coleman, incumbant Republican Senator for Minnesota is running this ad about his Democratic opponent, Al Franken, which is almost beyond words in it's level of pathetic-ness...
Hardly a day goes by without a new announcement for the development of a new large utility scale wind farm or solar project. From a huge solar project in Arizona to a recently announced first of it's kind offshore wind farm off the coast of Delaware. Tens of thousands of megawatts of new renewable capacity is in the pipeline in various stages of development, but it could all come to a screeching halt. More below the fold.
