while the rest of america debates whether or not my home town is worth rebuilding, or if it should be rebuilt to their ideals -- right or left -- i'm stuck in texarkana, trying to discern from fuzzy satellite pictures, if i'll even have a home to go back to.

this is the first moment i've had to even think about politics. i'm from new orleans. or at least i was before the 29th. now i'm not sure if there's any "there" to be from anymore.

i'm so happy. wsmb 1350 am has dropped o'liely and picked up air america. o'liely gets moved to their sister station which carries limbaugh, but he gets the 10p-12m slot, which is certainly less desireable than his previous 3-5p slot on wsmb.

i'm so thrilled to finally have air america here.

now all i have to do is find a little portable radio that actually gets am stations. all the little pocket radios i've found so far are fm only. so i'm off now to do a froogle search.

i just wrote the station a big ol' thank you letter and told them i'd be doing my best to support their advertisers and telling everyone i know to listen in.

Yesterday, while with the kids at my mom's house, she informed me that none of her neighbors, white or black, NOT EVEN THE GAY COUPLE, will talk to her anymore. Why? What has made her such a social pariah in the New Orleans suburban neighborhood where she's lived for the past 17 years?
